If Pakistan has to win the series they need to play aggressive cricket by promoting Shadab at 3. Haider needs to play as well. Babar and Haider could be a good opening partnership. Hafeez should play as a finisher. This would be the actual test for this management because we were doing well in T20s previously.

My Playing XI
Babar (C)
Haider
Shadab
Rizwan (WK)
Malik
Hafeez
Khushdil
Imad
Amir
Haris Rauf
Hasnain

This would be the perfect blend of experience +youth and the youth should play up the order.

The performance of the T20 team would depend both on the Playing XI and the batting order. And actually the batting order would decide the matches. Babar+Haider could be like Babar and Banton for Somerset. If they click together it would be a fabulous sighting. Shadab's pinch hitter role would be an aggressive move. Rizwan at 4 would be necessary if we lose 2 early wickets. If first 2 wickets fell before 10th over, Rizwan should come in otherwise Khusdil or Hafeez should be promoted and Malik should stick to 5.The presence of seniors in the later part of the innings will help in chasing big scores. The role of Hafeez as a finisher would be the aggressive move and that is something Hafeez should do for the team.

Haider should play all 3 matches in my opinion so only one of Malik and Hafeez can play as you also wanna keep atleast one of Khushdil and Iftikhar as these two are probably the best hitter of the ball lower down the order.

Malik will play

Jason Roy ruled out of Pakistan Vitality IT20s

England's Jason Roy has been ruled out of the Vitality IT20s against Pakistan after sustaining a left side strain.

The Surrey top-order batsman picked up the injury this week in the team’s preparation at Emirates Old Trafford and had a scan on Wednesday.

He will remain with the England set-up and will commence his rehabilitation programme looking ahead to the Australia white-ball series, which starts next month at The Ageas Bowl.

Looks like I’ll be changing my fantasy pick in that case :afridi

Will there be a replacement?

England opener Jason Roy will miss the Vitality IT20 series against Pakistan after sustaining a left side strain.

The Surrey batsman sustained the injury this week in the team's preparation at Emirates Old Trafford and had a scan on Wednesday.

Roy will remain with the England set-up and will commence his rehabilitation programme looking ahead to the Australia white-ball series, which starts in September at The Ageas Bowl.

England captain Eoin Morgan is confident Roy will recover in time.

"At the moment we don't anticipate it being anything serious but we want to give him every chance to be fit for Australia, both series, T20's and 50 overs. So we'll see how he progresses over the next three or four days and be able to report back then."

The 30-year-old had been aiming to extend a run that has seen him hit four scores of 40 or more in his last five T20 international innings - his most recent fifty coming in February against South Africa.

He subsequently experienced what it was like to play behind-closed-doors during a spell with Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, before returning to England and registering scores of 24, nought and one in the three ODIs against Ireland.

Roy continued to struggle for form in the recent Bob Willis Trophy fixture against Hampshire at Arundel, where he was dismissed for four and 14.

Give Shaheen and Naseem a break after the Test series.

No point of leaving Malik and Hafeez out as they will both play for sure. But this would be my preferred numbers for them to bat at. Hafeez is a solid power hitter down the order, and Malik is good at rotating the strike in the middle overs and getting some boundaries here and there.

Unfortunately we have to play Sarfraz because Rizwan averages 16 @ 97 for us in T20I’s and only about 19 @109 in T20s as a whole. I honestly don’t know what Rizwan is doing in the T20I side do we really have no Wicket Keeper that can come in at 6/7 and get us 30 odd runs of 12-16 balls?

I rather have ifti than Malik or hafeez anyday

You’d rather have Ifti chacha over Hafeez? Who has mediocre he has been throughout has career has played knocks in the past 2/3 years down the order Ifti chacha can only dream of -

• Match Winning 34 (21) vs New Zeland whilst chasing on a very slow pitch.
• Clutch display of power hitting 57 (37) vs India in CT Final with the whole world watching.
• Match Winning 71 (63) vs South Africa, in another chase sealing the deal and playing a clutch knock and winning it for Pakistan with things looking tough.
• Momentum Shifting 84 (62) vs England in the World Cup, shifted the momentum of the whole innings, his knock was the difference between 300 and 350.

Since the start of 2018 Hafeez averages 56 at a SR of 133 in T20I’s. Hafeez is a game changer down the order and if he plays at 5/6 I’d take him over anyone in Pakistan right now because there’s just no power hitter in Pakistan at the moment that’s our biggest weakness. We need to groom some players that can come in at 6-7 and just hit from ball one like a Buttler or Maxwell.

You're going to need to find a slot for Imad Wasim too, probably in place of one of the young pacers.

I don't disagree with the rest of your side but it's probably the most pathetic middle order i've seen in a long time. In general the batting is a joke except for Babar.

You're absolutely right, which is why it won't happen. Malik and Hafeez will play. I don't have much faith in Khushdil and Ifti getting in largely for that reason.

i don't see how pakistan stands a chance vs the hacks on their patta pitches. Anywhere else I would say pakistan but the hacks should get the job done in england.

ohh. the best hack is out....pakistan have a shot now.

Captain Eoin Morgan wants England's players to "present their best case for selection" for next year's T20 World Cup in the series against Pakistan.

Emirates Old Trafford will host the first of three Twenty20s on Friday.

The T20 World Cup, due to start in Australia in October, was moved to India in 2021 because of Covid-19.

"One of the challenges between now and then will be getting our strongest team on the park as often as we can to define roles," Morgan said.

He told BBC Test Match Special: "We don't know how long Covid is going to hang around and the scenario around selection with guys moving from bubble to bubble will continue.

"This is another opportunity for guys who would potentially sit outside that 15 to try and present their best case for winter tours and the World Cup next year."

England's Test and one-day squads have been in bio-secure bubbles at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton or Old Trafford in Manchester since international cricket returned in July.

Morgan said changes to selection policy might be made if the bubbles continue.

"Yes, we want to play cricket at the highest level as much as we can, but also it's like being on the road for 12 months a year - you can't expect guys to do it all the time," he said.

"It might be an area that we look at more than we do at the moment, maybe taking decisions out of guys' hands and forcing rest periods to go and see their families - guys with young kids or guys who are just missing home.

"It's something we have to be flexible about."

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, whose side were beaten 1-0 by England in the three-Test series that finished on Monday, said: "It's really difficult to come from red ball to white ball, but T20 specific players have been practising, so the aim is to win the series."

Can Jordan become England's T20 leading wicket-taker?

Chris Jordan has taken 58 wickets at an average of 24.27 and economy rate of 8.66 in 46 Twenty20s
With the T20s starting only four days after the culmination of the Test series, England have named a squad containing no Test players.

They have won five T20 series in a row, their most recent series loss coming against India in July 2018.

Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jos Buttler are not involved following Test commitments, while opener Jason Roy will miss the series because of a side strain.

Seamer Chris Jordan will have the opportunity to become England's all-time leading T20 wicket-taker. He has 58 wickets, seven behind Stuart Broad.

Jordan returns after arm surgery in July, while batsman Dawid Malan is fit after a calf problem ruled him out of June's one-day series against Ireland. The left-hander scored an unbeaten century against New Zealand in his most recent T20 for England last November.

Batting coach Graham Thorpe will oversee the squad in the absence of head coach Chris Silverwood, while former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood - part of the TMS commentary team for the Test series - is a bowling consultant.

England squad: Eoin Morgan (capt), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Tom Banton, Sam Billings (wk), Tom Curran, Joe Denly, Lewis Gregory, Chris Jordan, Saqib Mahmood, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, David Willey. Reserves: Pat Brown, Liam Livingstone, Reece Topley.

What about Pakistan?

Shoaib Malik was a part of the Pakistan side that beat Sri Lanka in the 2009 World T20 final at Lord's
Pace bowler Mohammad Amir and veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik, who were part of Pakistan's 2009 World T20-winning team, return to the 17-man squad.

Shoaib is Pakistan's leading run-scorer in the format with 2,309, while Amir retired from Test cricket last year to focus on ODIs and T20s.

Former captain and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez have also been recalled, while there could be a white-ball debut for 17-year-old pace bowler Naseem Shah, who impressed in the Test series.

Babar is the world's number one ranked T20 batsman - he averages 50.72, behind only India's Virat Kohli - and was the leading scorer in last season's T20 Blast with 578 runs for Somerset.

Pakistan have lost five of their past six matches outside Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

Pakistan squad: Babar Azam (capt), Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Khusdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz.

England captain Eoin Morgan has urged his players to seize their chance against a dangerous Pakistan side in the three-match Twenty20 international series that provides an early audition for next year’s World Cup. The teams meet at Old Trafford on Friday with England much changed from what would be considered their first-choice squad as players who featured in the recent test series against Pakistan are rested.

Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood are all missing, while Jason Roy is absent through injury, handing opportunities to the likes of Tom Banton, Dawid Malan and Lewis Gregory.

“It gives guys the chance to stake their claim to be in that final 15-man squad for the World Cup next year,” Morgan told reporters on Thursday.

“Given the circumstances surrounding COVID and the restrictions we have selection-wise, this is an opportunity for guys who would potentially sit outside that 15 to try and present their best case for the upcoming winter tours and the World Cup.

“Opportunities like this don’t come around all that often when we have our squad at full strength.”

Morgan knows that with the likelihood of a crammed calendar across all formats in 2021, opportunities to field what he would consider England’s best Twenty20 lineup on a regular basis will be slim ahead of the October-November World Cup in India.

“One of the challenges between now and then is going to be getting our strongest team on the park as often as we can to define their roles,” he said.

Pakistan will present an excellent challenge for England, who have not played in the format since a 2-1 away series win over South Africa in February.

“Pakistan are a very dangerous T20 team and you forget the depth that they have across domestic cricket.

“For us they are always a difficult side to play against because they always have all bases covered.”

Oh yeah totally forgot Imad Wasim was in the squad he'll be there too, and yeah the middle order is pretty pathetic, especially considering Hafeez will most probably bat at 3,4 where he is of no use, and push down Malik and Sarfraz even though they can only hit spinners, the can't power hit pacers to save their life.

For the love of God don’t pick Hafeez and Malik or Amir and Wahab in the same team. All of them did nothing in the last T20 WC and they’ll do nothing in the next one.

My friend they’re all going to be picked, and Iftikhar and Imad too...

Loads of interesting and exciting things can be done with the current team and those strategies can make us really competitive. As I said earlier in the thread, Babar and Haider should open. If Haider gets out first, then Shadab should join Babar. However, if Babar gets out then Rizwan should join Haider. Shadab should be sent once Haider gets out. In my team, Babar is the first anchor and Rizwan would be the second anchor. The role of the second anchor would be minute if Pakistan starts well and Babar does well. However, in case of early two wickets, Rizwan role becomes really important. In the middle of the innings, the role of Malik would be to use the experience to keep the strike rotation in the middle overs and not get bogged down. In the end part of the innings, Hafeez, khushdil and Imad should play the hitting role.
In my team, youth and high strike rate players get the early license to attack and aim for 50+ runs in the powerplay. The first four players would also feel mentally out of pressure as they will know the experienced duo of Malik and Hafeez are yet to bat. Players like Haider, Shadab and Rizwan will be wasted if they do not play up the order. Also, Rizwan might not be required to bat in matches where Haider, Babar and Shadab play the first 10 overs. My team also relieves Babar from the pressure of being the main player. If Babar gets out, the team should play around Rizwan. The role of Haider and Shadab should not change. This kind of aggressive cricket with the same players is possible.
I am totally against Fakhar as an opener because the truth is that he is predictable with limited shots. Playing Hafeez up the order will make Rizwan useless and if Haider or Shadab play below Hafeez they will be wasted too. Hafeez has the ability to play down the order and he would be most effective in that role.
Lastly, the best thing about my team is that the top 4 are young players who can play for many years. The retirement of Hafeez and Malik would not be an issue as it would be if they play up the order.

I want Babar to have a great series.

Same for Haider.

Really wish we win the series!

I know it's strange times but surely they could have prepared this series based on weather forecasts and someone managed to play games in London where the weather is always warmer

All 3 games are going to be disrupted by weather

Babar Azam
Haider Ali
Mohammad Rizwan
Shoaib Malik (One of Hafeez or Malik will play, Malik deserves it more)
Shadab Khan
Khushdil Shah
Iftikhar Ahmed
Imad Wasim
Amir
Hasnain
Rauf

Batting order could be tweaked, put Rizwan at 8 and slide the others up a slot. Or Shadab at 7.

Well it's predicted to rain all day in London so there would have been even less of a chance of getting a game...you can't tell when it comes to weather in England....

Either way don't see them getting in full matches

Pakistan need to give Shaheen and Naseem a rest why are they even there still. Need to get them playing FC in a months time.

We should go with Babar fakhar Haider shadab as the top 4, if we have to play seniors , let them come and sort the innings out after the above guys have had a proper dash

We probably have seen more rain then cricket on TV in test series. Weather again not looking great tmw at the start. :shehzad

Weather is alrightt. Should be an on time start with a little damp conditions. Expect a very slow outfield. So babar must really do more than timing the ball in order to reach the fence. Should be a cracker of a game. Haider Ali will be debuting from the sources so far. One of malik/hafeez will play

My dream team and also possibly most probable team, but the batting order may change and that change of order can turn a win in loss, so hopefully sense prevail.
1.Fakhar
2.Babar
3.Haider
4.Shadab/Rizwan
5.Hafeez
6.Ifitikhar
7.Imad
8.Shadab/Rizwan
9.Amir
10.Shinwari/Wahab
11.Shaheen
If they play this team in this order and with a license to go for kill then we can take series atleast 2-1, And there is good depth in both batting and bowling.

^ if second wicket fall before 10th than Rizwan must play at 4, and he can consolidate one end and if it fall after 10 than shadab should come and attack and they should swap positions, and if second fall after 15 then both of them should come after imad. this is how we can utilize them best.
