It's mostly around 83-84 . It was 83 before last match .
Anyways, yes you want batsmen to provide stability in the middle but even the definition of stability has changed in modern day cricket FYI, anchoring the innings doesn't mean you have to suck all the momentum and consume deliveries just to hold an end and play with a SR of 83-84. Kohli and Root also provide stability but they don't play with SR of 80-85...Root's SR in last 3 years has been 90+ yet there were noises in Eng camp last year during WI tour that he is too slow for the modern standards and should be dropped. Kohli's SR is 92.
We provide free rides to our blue eyed boys that's why we have been in such a mess in ODIs for many years now. we need to put pressure on our favorites so that they can improve instead of getting complacent and think they are no 1 with SR of 83 with 0 match winning contribution in big match.

You really believe in ICC rankings? Faheem is in the top rankings too in bowling in t20s does that mean he becomes best pacer in the world? And also T20 ranking is even more flawed as it doesn't give consideration to the SR but to the runs scored. T20 is more about SR we all know that.. Test rankings are more valid because it give considerations to avg and babar is nowhere in those rankings.

Point is in modern day ODIs we need middle order batsmen with SR of 88-89 or more not less than that..

So which player would you suggest for that number 3? You're the same guy that wanted Shahzaib Hasan in the team am I correct in saying?

Guys hafeez n malik still have utility. I would back them to get us over the line Vs bang, afg, wi, SL
These are the must win games and hafeez / Malik can dominate these teams, especially there spinners

I dont think the team management would trust Malik and Haris to bowl 10.It would be frankly surprising if they do.But then they will have to drop a batsmen to incorporate a bowler and Malik wont be dropped and Asif after the previous match can't be either. Haris might be dropped for all we know. Not an easy decision to make by all means.

Even Sarfaraz himself would be better than Yasir honestly
But i dont think Malik will be able to contain though Haris might.Malik would probably be feasted upon by the beastly English lineup.

Even frontline bowlers are conceding 7-8 rpo.
In these scenario, it's better to bowl 10 overs of part time. At least it will strengthen batting line up.

This is a better option, if ;
1= Part Timers are used smartly.
2= Notoriously slow batsmen are lectured to play aggressively, particularly Middle order.

'Jos Buttler's almost demoralising the guys in the top-order' – Jason Roy

Buttler, who hit a blistering century against Pakistan in the second one-day international, has been terrific of late and performing consistently for the past couple of years. In 2019, he has already accumulated 321 runs in seven matches at a whopping average of 107. He also scored over 300 runs in the recently concluded Indian Premier League and was one of Rajasthan Royals' key batsmen.

Roy thinks Buttler is "as good as it gets" and his talent cannot be denied. The 28-year-old himself scored a solid 98-ball 87 in that match against Pakistan but his patient effort was overshadowed by Buttler's 55-ball 110* blitz.

"He's as good as it gets to be honest," Roy told Sky Sports. "It's not a shock, in fact it's getting a bit kind of routine for him to come out and play those sort of innings. He's almost demoralising the guys at the top of the order that are going at a run a ball and he comes in and just blitzes it.

"He's an extreme talent and works hard for it and deserves everything he gets," he added.

Buttler's innings had also prompted former England captain Nasser Hussain to shower high praise on him. Speaking to Sky Sports, the veteran had said,"I don't like massive comments, but he'd have to be up there with the three or four greatest white-ball players of all time. You're talking Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni, Viv Richards. I have to put Buttler in that category."

Roy, who came back from an injury, is feeling confident about his game as well. His knock in the second ODI helped England get off to a brilliant start and laid the foundation for Buttler to come and play his shots. Roy had suffered a back spasm while playing for Surrey in the Royal London One-Day Cup last month but is fully fit now.

"I'm 100 per cent fit. I spent six or seven weeks with my hamstring injury, fixing my torn hamstring, Then my back was quite a big issue but it was resolved by the great medical staff we have here. So I'm back fully, fully fit. I actually feel better than I did before," he concluded.

England play Pakistan in the third ODI on Tuesday, 14 May in Bristol.

Why everyone is so keen to play 4 bowlers? You saw what England pitches are 1 full time bowler is likely to get punished. Then how you can adjust 15 odd overs or even 10 among part timers?

It will cost us runs. And playing extra batsman at no. 7 won't strengthen our batting. Instead we'll have a weak bowling line up.
