England's slip catching has been woeful recently

England's slip catching in recent times has been awful, with Alastair Cook the biggest culprit who somehow still remains in the cordon.

There's at least one or two dollies shelled each Test. It's gotten so bad that in Pakistan's 2016 tour of England - England actually dropped more catches than us (14 drops vs 10).

Given England's shaky batting, they cannot afford to be dropping so many chances.

They are still better than India and Bangladesh. Kohli/Dhawan now that disease has spread to Rahane too.

Yep, been a terrible slip fielder. Too fidgety to stand in slips.

Dhawan and Vijay are awful. Ashwin and Rahane are the only better ones but even they have dropped many recently

We don't have even one good slip fielder right now (for pacers) for spinners rahane is best. I was reading stats back in 2016-17 series and it showed raina and rohit had best stats in slips but they are not even worth to be in team imo.

We only dropped one catch the entire series and there were some really difficult ones at slip.

Unfortunately, Hasan’s catch cost us the series.

I was just about to post that both England and India have really fallen off on their slip catching and that Pakistan has gradually improved but I had no stats to back it up...so thanks for this lol

I think the big issue for India is that they do not fully understand that slip catching, especially at 1 and 2 is an almost specialist pursuit but they do not have nay stable hands there.

Woakes got the ball to move late and sowed a seed of doubt in Kohli's mind, he was late in leaving that and the ball takes the face of his withdrawing bat and goes to Buttler's left. Wouldn't have carried to Cook at first slip, Buttler may have seen that late. Kohli gets a life

The promotion hasn't worked. Woakes adjusts his radar, gets it around off, on the back foot trying to defend and the late movement produces the edge. I would have never thought I would say this but Pakistan test team has one of the nest slip fielders who ae consistent. Shafiq, Babar Azam and Harris Sohail are all excellent slip fielders. England and India are quite pathetic when it comes to slip catching. India was bad but England are right up there. Going to be a great battle between butter fingers

We are definitely more consistent in dropping them. No matter what series, we drop 4-5 catches every match.

Was just listening to Steve Harmison , according to him stokes and Anderson are the safest fielders in slips. Do not forget that flontoff was an excellent slip fielder and he used to bowl a lot
