Ronaldo’s wage bill at United is the problem

A smart manager can hire 3 high quality players from the lower leagues who can have a positive impact in the side with that money

Rapheal Varane £340k lol

I don’t think he is worth £200k a week anymore

Jack Grealish is earning too much money for not being a 90 minute player

Who determines their price? market? Thats driven by people like you and me so we cant really complain

No not at all. Ed Woodward is well known to pay inflated prices to players in order to secure their signature for Manchester United.

Who in this world is willing to give Varane £340k per week and 37 year old Ronaldo £550k?? Woodward was paying injured Falcao astronomical fees to sit on the bench.

Manchester United’s financial structure is easily the most stupid in the premier league historically

Martial has not developed into the new Theiry Henry as everyone was hoping he would, and is picking up so much money considering he is a flop

Of course he does but he pays on based on his judgement of what is likely to earn him money from we the customers.

Lets face it, EPL is less about development of the game and more about building a team of the best players money can buy.

John Stones and Sterling are just about right considering they are England first XI players. Their prices are correct for the English player premium rates.

That’s not the financial structure followed by the likes of City, Chelsea and Liverpool recently. United scouts are not putting in 30% of the effort the scouts of these 3 teams are putting in whilst identifying talent from Europe, Africa and South America. It just seems as if Manchester United are always confused. Sometimes they want to go the easy way out by adopting the Real Madrid Galactico way and build a team of huge names, look to recover the money from shirt sales and merchandise. At other times, they want to go the clean slate way and build a team of unknown commodities whilst hoping they develop into a unit, force through chemistry.

Chelsea, City and Liverpool have been brilliant in their transfer market business. They don’t identify prospects, they hire the right guys for the job. I loved how Liverpool built that core spine of Becker, Van Dyke, Fabinho, Firmino, Mane and Salah. Anyone walking into the team with these core players will automatically improve his performance considering this core spine is holding the team together.

Rana in your view what is the real value of each of these players?

Ronaldo maximum £300k on a year to year basis

De Bruyne is correct

De Gea seems correct but it is too much for a club that isn’t a Champions League winning contender.

Haaland is correct, he could have gone for more at PSG or Madrid

Varane £200-250k.

Sancho seems fine,

Lukaku earned that contract, he has not delivered this season.

Grealish is correct, but Pep isn’t utilising him enough.

Sterling is correct

Stones is correct

Cavani is making free cash in the twilight of his career. Perks of being a free agent who has been a deadly hunter in his prime

Martial is probably running down an initial contract where he was expected to be the next big thing. His next contract will demand him to either leave or come to terms with a significant pay cut if £50-100k

The salaries (and the transfer fees) within professional football are absolutely obscene and completely insane, but these numbers are essentially moving with inflation and in line with the ever changing market, so in the end it is what it is really.

I remember when Alan Shearer signed for Newcastle United in 1996 and Blackburn Rovers were paid a record-breaking £15 million for his transfer. Everyone was open mouthed at the time. Now in top level football £15 million barely qualifies as pocket money.
