I have been saying for a long time. Pakistan is not very strong with this 7 bowlers approach in ODIs. We still conceded 300 runs against Afghanistan today.

Advice for Mickey & Babar, drop one bowler and replace with a batter. Simples!

100%. We are 1 batter short. This line up looks so fragile against quality bowling. let’s not be fooled by bloated averages against B/C teams, Pak batting is relying almost entirely on top 3 currently. Another solid bat like Saud ain’t gonna hurt at 4.

Which seven bowlers? Salman Ali Agha is a part-timer. He's there for his batting. Now, it's true that he should probably be replaced if he doesn't do well in the next game, but that would be replacing a batter with another batter, not a bowler being replaced.

If it were up to me, I'd take a risk on Haris and go with the following XI. Iftikhar is there simply for the balance of the side otherwise he's not very confidence-inspiring at the moment, especially against spin. Hope he finds some form with the bat.

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Abdullah Shafiq
Iftikhar
Haris
Shadab
Nawaz
the fast bowlers

There is an argument to drop Salman Agha from the side but at the moment he is selected on merit for his batting skills, especially against spin. His bowling is a bonus which as a package puts him above the likes of Saud and Abdullah at the moment.

Not totally sold that Abdullah Shafique would bat drastically better than Salman Agha. Even less so on Saud who has serious limitations in aggressive batting.

Reminds me of Indian team from yesteryear banking on only 2-3 players. if Afghanistan is giving tough time then some steps need to be taken . I think we need imad wasim who can bow spin can take singles and hit. I feel like Pakistan is preparing for a Tape BALL world cup.

It's 5 bowlers and 2 part-timers lol.

Pakistan is never going to by purely batting - it is simply never going to happen no matter how much bat they added. In fact, this exact strategy is what they did in the 2019 WC where they included Malik & Asif to go with 4 bowlers & part-timers in Malik/Hafeez and it cost them the match vs both India & Australia.

Just because bowlers weren't at their best for one game calls for such a drastic change. You back your bowlers because they are quite good and do deliver for the most part. Pakistan best chance of ever winning is on their bowling anyways and hoping they score enough.

I would like Imad Wasim to be given a chance in ODI's. I'm surprised and disappointed he wasn't in the squad for this series. But that means it's probably too late and we're sticking with mediocre Nawaz instead.

Indeed.. Imad wasim is a genuine all rounder who can bowl quick economical overs and he can smash the ball too. He should have been selected.

You will go with 2 pacer only?

Very shakky middle order with rizwan not putting any contribution...
We are only relying on babar or imam

And who should that batter be?

Haris is another Haider Ali you can't rely on him as he could get out while going for a slog at any moment. I think he's more suited for T20s.

Drop Chacha, due to him being very very old , he will not be scoring runs against big boy, he can only scores against the minnows or at domestic level. Oh, I just found out he was only 32 .

Babar plz for the love of God stop banking on bits and pieces.
Chacha Shadab Faheem none deserve to be in the side.
This can bat/can bowl mentality is hurting us

@gazza619

Any thoughts on this now?
Absolutely! Pakistan need to add more meat to the batting and drop guys who are half bowlers.

Its too late anyway as we have are now out of the Asia Cup and the new PCB management deserve this humiliation.

The problem with Pakistan is that there are just too many fake allrounders in the team who can neither bat or bowl. Salman Agha was billed as an off spin allrounder but didnt bowl on a turning wicket where the Indian spin bowlers made a mockery of Pakistani batsmen. He didn’t even bowl when two frontline bowlers got injured and their overs needed to be finished. This is just criminal.

Shadab
Salman
Nawaz
Faheem
Iftikhar

Are all fake allrounders who can neither bat or bowl and their averages, played against very weak teams, also reflects this basic fact.

In such a situation, Pakistan is better off with going with specialist bowlers and batsmen and forgo this crazy obsession with fake allrounders.

It doesn't seem to be a wise idea to play with 7 bowlers. You can have one extra bowler in case someone gets injured or have an off day but there is no point of playing 7 bowlers when the job can be done with 5 bowlers.

What’s with the Agha Salman hate lately , I don’t think he’s done too bad and he plays spin decently ,no ?

Naseem, Shaheen, Rauf, Shadab, and Nawaz.

Ifti can chip in with a few overs.

I think this should be the bowling lineup for ODI.

So the team management finally saw my thread. Too late I am afraid

Pakistan should play with 4 fast bowlers in the remaining two matches. Our spinners are struggling and I think the 5th over quota will be bowled by Iftikhar and Agha.

Agha needs to bowl some overs I don't think he warrants a place in the xi as just a batter.
