Cannot stand the guy, full on hype. Got lucky with 2019 WC win. A true mercenary. Glad England lost under his watch in this WC. Total sham.

I cannot understand why did he not come ahead of Moin Ali today. It's one thing to promote younger players and others in useless billateral games but this was the WC, he should have dared to lead from the front.

IIRC he has the highest ODI aggregate of any England player, and is an excellent motivator who lifted the World Cup.
He is probably past his best and should retire.

The worst part about him is his arrogance. Remember in CT17 when Pakistan walloped England in the semi he refused to acknowledge that Pakistan played well instead blamed the pitch. I'm sure he will come up with a similar excuse for today's drumming. For all of England's hype as the greatest LOI team of this era, they only have 1 world event victory to show for it and that too based on numbers of boundaries LOL. The last time a team was truly great was Australia who used to win tournaments without breaking a sweat.

Really? Absolutely demolished Rashid Khan in the WC a couple of years ago. The English aren't fickle like us. They will back Morgan. One defeat does not mean that Morgan is not a good player.

Hasn't been upto much for a while. Woeful in the Hundred, terrible in the IPL and doesn't have a meaningful knock for England in as long as I can remember now.
Quality captaincy is a myth - when he presides over a quality players they will inevitably achieve.
His London Spirit team was useless, so was he and his Captaincy was exposed.
He has the persona that'd about it.

It is hard to understand why he didn't bowled Moeen because the matchup rule is that Conway should have been bowled to by Moeen Ali as he is an offie who are generally tried to left handers. This would have allowed them to finish more overs of the fifth and sixth bowler.
However, at the same time, I feel that their main bowlers like Wood and Jordan disappointed them by bowling too many length deliveries to Neesham and Mitchell in the backend.

Morgan is England's most capped limited overs player & he is someone who has featured for England in every icc tournament since his debut for them. there must be some reason why he made the team all the time & later given rebuilding job after 2015 worldcup.
Since he has been made captain he has lead from the front if you remember the series against New Zealand and Australia just after 2015 worldcup. 2019 world Cup win is a testament of his career as a leader and mentor of Worldcup winning side.
Now that he is 35 years old , his form is no longer the best, England has abundance of batting talent waiting & in jos butter they have a future limited overs captain ready. So it's time for him to step back and make team on merit if he wants to play longer. I think the kind of decision maker he is, Morgan will step back and retire.
He will be remembered as one of the Chief architect of England's limited overs cricket overhaul which lead them to 2019 worldcup glory.
As a batsman he underachieved imo. Should have averaged 45 at least in odis with talent he had. In his early years he was comfortably one of England's most dynamic limited overs batsman along side KP. Among current generation his batting was largely overshadowed by root & buttler in middle overs but he had his moments and in no ways he looked out of place or undeserving in England playing 11 up until now.
2021 has been rough year for him t20s & England no longer needs him in t20s. In ODIs it's different story all together, he still makes the playing 11 there as a player but if he is not in 2023 worldcup plans it's better to strip him from captaincy for the greater good of the team.

Conway has an excellent record against off spinners hence why Livingstone, who will nearly always bowl off spin to left handers, was instead bowling leg spin to him.

Hes been a very good batsmen and a fantastic leader for england whos changed the mentality of the english towards limited overs cricket and brought them great success

London: England’s 2019 World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan on Friday has ruled himself out from the race of becoming the next men’s Test captain and has instead backed all-rounder Ben Stokes to take up the job after Joe Root’s resignation earlier in April.
Whoever becomes England’s Test captain has got the tough job to get the side on track with collective performances in all departments of the game. In its last 17 Tests, England have emerged victorious just once and lost the Ashes 4-0 in Australia followed by 1-0 defeat in West Indies.
“Absolutely not, no. I’m very happy with the role that I play within the white-ball team and English cricket at the moment. It has been the part of my career that I’m most proud of. My career is firmly focused on World Cups, and hopefully sustaining what we’ve built over the last six years is probably going to be the most important part of what I leave behind eventually. I haven’t played red-ball cricket for a long time. I wouldn’t have any interest in the job. I would be no good at it,” Morgan told Sky Sports.
Morgan, who played a Test match in February 2012 against Pakistan in Dubai, has backed Stokes to take the role of captaining England in the longest format of the game.
“Obviously Ben is a fantastic player, a brilliant leader, though he doesn’t need to have the captain’s armband on to lead like he does. The experience of the World Cup final here (at Lord’s) really showed his true colours in the way that he led from start to finish – and throughout the whole tournament as well,” he said.
“He’d certainly be a candidate. I think it would be hard to turn down the captaincy. It’s a privileged position to be in. Obviously circumstances have to be right, but most people who want to take red-ball cricket forward would like to take it on.”
Morgan revealed that he had a meeting with new ECB managing director of men’s cricket, Rob Key and felt that splitting coaching roles on the basis of formats would be the road ahead as England gear up to appoint next coaches for the men’s team. “Just the demands of the game as a whole now is huge, there is almost no break. It’s such a big ask for one man to do the job.”
