"Even Jonty Rhodes would not have done a run out like one Fakhar Zaman did": Sarfaraz Ahmed

Sarfaraz Ahmed speaking to media

"Dropping catches can happen in a game, its part of the game, if the catches had been taken the game would have ended sooner but this is the beauty of cricket"

"It was Glen Maxwell's good luck that his catches were dropped today"

"The way Fakhar Zaman did the run-out, even Jonty Rhodes would not have done a run out like that"

"That run out wasnt easy - Fakhar is one of our top fielders, we also have Babar Azam, Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali"

"Fakhar's run out was a turning point and one could not think that the run out could happen like that"

"I told Shaheen Afridi before start of the [last] over that this is the time to be a hero and gave him confidence"

"After the six I told him no worries, no issues, just bowl 2 good balls and we will win the match"

"Look Asif Ali is a good player, and we are backing him up a lot"

"He is getting a turn to bat at a time when he has to hit out"

"He is trying hard and we are hopeful that in the upcoming matches he will play a good innings"

"All the series we have played, we have played against the top teams and we should get credit for that"

About D'Arcy : "I dont know why so much reaction [to the run out decision], it was clearly out as the bat was not on the ground, this is not my domain, its the umpires and referees call"

"This is my reaction whenever I win a game" [Aussie journo asked why he looked so animated after the win]

and people said he was putting pressure on Shaheen chatting with your bowler doesn’t mean he is putting pressure on him
Good to see backing Asif Ali

He always backs his (young) players. You dont win 10 INT series in a row if your not good enough as a captain / motivator. He has lots of confidence in his bowlers and that shows if you look at the number of times teams get bowled out.:hasan2:shadab:salute

What exactly did he mean to say here?

Click bait title. I am sure it was all in jest

It was said as it was, the answer was response to my question to him asking if the 2 dropped catches could have lost the game doe for Pakistan

He answered that and then praised Fakhars incredible piece of athleticism.

NO NO NO

Us experts on PP know better
He was putting extreme pressure on poor shaheen, he's was shouting at poor shaheen and telling him if he doesn't take a wicket he will never play for Pakistan again and poor shaheen was in invisible tears. Sarfaraz should be no where near the team for bullying youngsters

Shouting is just his way to convey msg, it doesn’t necessarily represent his anger. :wahab2

Fakhar wasnt even looking when he throwed the ball, it was exceptional but I think it was more of a one time thing which just happened.

He isnt comparing Fakhar with Johnty but just saying that this particular run out is not something which even the great johnty can easily do and with that I tend to agree.

This is the best one I have seen for a long time, previous one was Bavuma in tests against aussies I guess.

Wow? Drop catches just happen? Those sitters? This is how you end up losing eventually ladies and gentlemen, by not being critical of mistakes just because your winning. Not impressed with this.

Even though that run out was a big massive fluke, but I don't think I have seen a better and more magical runout in my life, yes that includes jonty himself demoliting the stumps with the ball in hand dive.

It was was great fielding effort from Fakhar Zaman. Calling it just a fluke is not fair. For this particular run out i totally concur with the statement of Sarfaraz. Other than that, Shadab's catch was excellent too. In fact, apart from 2 drop catches, Pakistani team was brilliant on field.

He seems to be putting too much emphasis on t2p wins with his OTT reaction at the end

Surely the focus and this energy should be directed more towards the odi team with the World Cup being next year rather than inconsequential bilateral t20 wins

Fakhar is a good fielder and the run out was great. TBH he was not even looking at the stumps when he threw the ball, it just happened.

No one can come close to Jonty when it comes to fielding. He is the only cricketer in the history to receive a man of the match award playing as a 12th man. Such was his class.
