In our latest exclusive interview, Bazid Khan—former Pakistan Test cricketer, son of legend Majid Khan, and celebrated cricket commentator—delivers insightful analysis of Pakistan cricket’s structural flaws, PSL’s evolving role, and the road ahead. With decades of experience on and off the field, Bazid unpacks the systemic issues plaguing the nation’s cricket and offers bold solutions.

Key topics include:

Why “PSL isn’t producing enough international-ready players” despite its success.

The “three years minimum” rule for player selection to avoid knee-jerk decisions.

PSL needs home and away games” to engage fans and boost local support.

How “Pakistani players post-injury are almost never the same” due to poor medical structures.

Decentralizing PCB” to fix administration and grassroots development.

The financial reality: “PSL is your only product that produce money.”

Ali Tareen's timing is all wrong”—debating PSL criticism amid its 10th season.

Pakistan now is a second-tier team”—why the gap with top nations is widening.

All we need atm is stability. We cannot change the captain and coaches after every series. Need to give them a full run and for a longer time (MORE THAN 2-3 WEEKS.... lol)

Unfortunately our team ahs no future. Too much corruption in every sector and no talent to mentioned.

In T20 cricket it can be done in a year or so.

5-6 years is needed for test but by that time test may not exist so we don't need to worry too much.

Should give up on TEST cricket.
White ball can be a quick fix. It will of course require bold moves.

The main issue for the players is their approach and mindset heading in to a game along with implementing the correct strategies for every opponent in a team.

The Professionalism needs to start from the PCB and then it will filter down to the players.

No more 1000 fake admin staff on the payroll looting.

Followed by bringing in professional coaching staff , facilities, strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionists etc and letting them work for the duration of their contract without interference.

Professional Leadership across the board and the players to be held accountable and answerable is what is needed.

You don't get it do you, the problem is the lack of skill. These guys are simply not good enough and no amount of coaching will make them world beaters. The systems needs changing from the grassroot level.

How can a team with the top run scorer of the tournament be ranked bottom?

How can a player averaging 47 in T20is averages 40 in Test cricket??

It is in between.

Players such as Fakhar, Saim, Babar, Naseem, SSA, Haris Rauf and Shadab to name a few in potential are very good players to compete vs the best in white ball.

It is the lack of fitness, improvement and a proper system which has resulted in where these players stand now.

Who made you judge and jury issuing certificates on skill levels???.

These players have achieved at international level therefore your comments are a nonsense.

Do you think corrupt organisations will invest at the grass route level or give jobs to their fool mates under the fraud of admin.

Wake up and get real.

What have they achieved at the international level? What test series abroad against quality opposition do they look competent against? Other than a couple of T20 events, when have they looked anything other than rubbish in the shorter formats?

Just look at the averages for our batsmen and bowlers in all formats. Apart from 1 or 2 guys, they are dreadful.

I don't care about white ball cricket. Test cricket is what I follow mostly. That is where we are so so lacking.

Majid Khan was a fantastic cricket administrator. I feel his son Bazid will be the same and should be tried by PCB

It is not rocket science. Cricket is a team sport and you need some of the other team members to contribute for a successful campaign. MS need to be smarter with their foreign players choices next season

I think they need to be smarter with their rubbish, outdated approach with an opener who anchors.

I don’t disagree. Riz needs to attack but to blame everything entirely on one man is not a fair analysis. Bowling has also been disappointing.

It is a fair and strong analysis when the main strategy is built around him.

I’ve outlined it in the other thread regarding MS’s failure

Lol Bazid Khan would appoint Misbah and Babar as coach and captain. No thanks!
