Yes my arguments aren’t making sense because I was the one to bring Morgan’s Test credentials to the table.
Let me make it easy for you:
Faf hasn’t played in the BBL for 7 years, but Morgan has played in both competitions in recent years. Hence, he is in a better position to judge which tournament is better, and if he thinks that the IPL was a better preparation for Archer, no one can dispute him.
You are right that I am no one to challenge Faf if he is blaming IPL for Rabada running out of steam and Steyn getting injured, but the problem is that Faf is coming across as a blithering hypocrite.
If he really thinks playing in the IPL put his players at injury risk, why did he play at the age of 35? One injury and the South Africa’s captain would have been on the sidelines.
If he really believes what he is saying, he would have skipped the IPL and made a point, which would have added credibility to complaint that Steyn and Rabada have suffered because of the IPL.
People who are bitter when it comes to IPL’s success and cannot digest the fact that it is a huge deal will obviously get excited over Faf’s statement, but it doesn’t take much to come to the conclusion that Faf’s moaning doesn’t have a whiff of credibility and he is simply deflecting the blame onto anything that he can latch on at this point.
His players aren’t the only ones who played in the IPL, and I don’t see any other captain complaining.
