I was really surprised by fahim's bowling. He bowled 30 balls..20 ball was dot.10 singles conceded..no boundary, doubles were conceded. He bowled every bowl in an exceptional good line and length..even set tharanga were unable to rotate strikes and hitting in his overs..
His speed was also good.HE bowled most balls at 130-135kmph and He clocked 138kmph once.
I think he can be real pace bowling all-rounder in future.
Your opinion please?

His batting is his bigger asset, was pleasantly surprised by his bowling. Before this match he seemed to me to be a run-of-the-mill type of bowler that you give overs in the middle of the innings to make up the numbers.

He surprised a lot of people including me with his tight bowling. He also got 2 wickets for 30 odd runs in the CT match against SL. He needs to be slotted at 6 to smash the ball like he did when we played the practice match against Bangladesh.

Same here bro...he can be real wicket taking option if he bowls like that.i have seen all 30 balls of him in 3 rd ODI.Its really special.Same tight line length and variation in pace and give no chance to even place the ball on the gaps.

At best, a 6th bowling option. This could bode well.

Since Hafeez is gone, may be a blessing in disguise to u guys.

1.Fakhar
2.Imam
3.Babar
4.Haris
5.Malik
6. Sarfraz * +
7.Imad/ Fahim
8.Shadab
9.Hassan
10.Amir
11.Junaid

Thank God we have a decent Medium pace all-rounder for once

It will be his batting that will keep him in the team, not his bowling. That's what people should be foremost interested in.

I agree with this, but if he can chip in with a few overs that's even better. Weirdly he considers bowling his stronger suit, so I hope someone has had a word with him.

The management's refusal to give him time in the middle with the bat is very frustrating. Do you think they have any valid reasons for holding him back?

He bowled really well to contain the Sri Lankan batsman but I guess his test will come against quality opposition but I'm keen to see his batting. He played a good knock against Sri Lanka in Champions Throphy.

Replacement for Imad

He is a good replacement option for Imad, and you are right, it will be his batting that will keep him in the side, a strong athlete that can hit from the first ball

Mickey sees him as a long term prospect so they are taking their time bringing him along step by step.

Hitting ability =/= athleticism. He's an average athlete. He's shown some ability with the bat but we're yet to really see his full capabilities. Even in his short domestic career he's batted down the order at 7-8 mostly and played as a bowler first, mostly just to fit him in the side without benching the "seniors."

Hopefully we bat first in 4th ODI tomorrow & we get to see his batting abilities at #6 or 7

Never got to see the highlights of his batting vs Bangladesh in the CT Warm-up game.

Should definitely replace Imad. He’s more than capable of bowling 5-6 overs a match and picking up wickets.

His batting also looks very promising.

That innings of his vs Bangladesh was no fluke, amazing striking of the ball.

Also he was looking dangerous in CT vs Sri lanka but got run out very unluckily.

Bowled very good. The ineptness of Sri Lankan batsman was on display but the way he pulled things back after a brisk start from a rampaging Tharanga, it was very impressive. Was even more delighted to see him bowling at 140 KPH. In his early 20's right now, he can seriously increase his pace hereon.

Hasan was a late 120's and early 130's bowler in his first few months and is consistently in the early 140's with the odd ball around 147. I'm pretty sure Fahim can do very good in a few months.

Why do people criticise his action?

Now we’ve won the series I hope we experiment with the youngsters. Like India do with Pandya sending him at 4 etc

exactly i think the same.
if he can bowl between 137-144 with good line & length then he can be our pandya

He needs to bowl more to improve his bowling. I hope he is given more chances.

I think he will be a real asset he should be given a run at number 7, I would play this lineup for the 4th odi:

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Imam ul Haq
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Malik
6. Sarfaraz
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Shadab Khan
9. Hassan Ali
10. Rumman Raees
11. Junaid Khan

7.Imad/ Fahim
8.Shadab
9.Hassan
10.Amir
11.Junaid

If Hafeez doesn't get banned from bowling again... looks like it is between these too for now:

1. Zaman
2. Imam / Azhar
3. Azam
4. Malik
5. Hafeez
6. Haris
7. Sarfraz
8. Shadab
9. Hasan
10. Amir
11. Junaid

1. Zaman
2. Azhar / Imam
3. Azam
4. Malik
5. Hafeez
6. Sarfraz
7. Shadab
8. Ashraf / Imad
9. Hasan
10. Amir
11. Junaid

Which of these teams would win more matches consistently?

Well he actually surprised everyone with his economical bowling!

Someone who pleasantly surprised me with his massive batting improvement in Last 12 months.

Hope He keeps on improving.

Yes, but they should give him time out in the middle in dead rubbers (like the rest of this series).

There's a WC in 2 years after all, and it's not like Pakistan's calendar is full!

Yes but we need a reliable bowler coz shady will have bad days and there may be no hafeez who have avg 4.07 economy since 2010

He was bowling some good pace.

Fairly rapid at times and was pleasantly suprised by his accuracy.

Seems he's working hard behind the scenes - very bright future.

Bhai do you think he is the solution to Pakistan’s search for a fast bowling all rounder?

Also could he play test cricket?

A bit earlier to judge his bowling but I would say that his bowling performance in 3rd ODI was more due to slow pitch rather than the improvement in bowling .Although his speed has improved , he was bowling in 132 to 137 kph range but still line length was not very tight .At present , he does not appear to be a full 10 over bowler especially against strong teams. But I hope he improves and becomes a fast bowling-hard hitting all rounder ,we desperately need.

As long as he can deliver 7 overs and max 5rpo and get a quick 30 runs with the bat then he is a solid replacement for Imad.

To be honest , once Hafeez goes out imad would be an ideal replacement for him. From what I have seen imad can bat pretty well and he can bowl well too. Not to mention that he has a level head on his shoulders. It wOuld be ideal if both of them are played together with them used as per the pitch and conditions. Im sure if imad is given proper chance he can have better average and strike rate than Hafeez in batting.

Not seen him bowl so I checked his Cricinfo profile. I am surprised you guys are terming his batting being the main strength when both his FC and List A record suggests otherwise.

Agreed. And he is the kinda batsman we desperately need. But he is a good bowler as well. Remember him being the joint highest wicket taker with Yamin in the pakistan cup.

I didnt get to see him in the 3rd ODI, any vids of his bowling.

Dopped yet again from the playing Xl. He needs to be given a decent run in the side to test out his power hitting capabilities. What is the management playing at?

Don't worry man it's not like he will be dropped from the squad in the next series in NZ. And over there I'd give him every game over Shadab in those conditions.

I don't understand why there isn't a culture of giving players a run in the team after they have been selected in the playing XI. Only players that seem to have connections appear to get a run for others its all about perform or perish. In Faheem's case his only fault was that he did not pick up a wicket. Other than that he bowled quite recently I thought.

Poor lad bowls well and then gets dropped! how can anyone gain any sort of consitancy. rather have him in side then imad wasim right now.

and today imad bowled beautifully

Who cares. We know what Imad is capable of. Its a dead rubber. Give your fringe players a chance. How often Pakistan win a 5 match series in 3 games?

Fahim can hit and we need a hitter. Give him a chance. Pathetic management.

Nah sorry but there should be some of highlights of the game on YouTube.

Very disappointed he got dropped - no idea why.

Sarfaraz seemed to suggest he is injured. I think it was while fielding in the previous game.

Sarfaraz clearly said at the previous toss that Haris is injured :ibutt

Khuda ki kasam Harry tou bistar se otartay howay injure hojata hai. He needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap at all times.

Yes, Shadab should be dropped and golden boy Imad can't be touched.
