Last night Karachi was trending on top on Twitter and majority of Indians were celebrating that Indian IAF entered into Pakistan airspace and as a result Karachi was completely blackout. Of course it was not true but not sure what are Indians upto? Right now F16 is trending top and again. Look at the image.

F16.jpg

Fake.jpg

A screenshot of a fake news story doctored to look like an article on Dawn.com surfaced on social media on Wednesday.

The fake screenshot, shared on Twitter, attempts to mislead the public by suggesting that a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 fighter jet has gone 'missing' during a 'panic situation' in Karachi.

The fake screenshot — widely shared by Indian Twitterati — has surfaced on the same day that Indian media reported "panic" in Karachi on Tuesday night following what they called were rumours of Indian Air Force fighters crossing the Line of Control (LoC).

The image is cropped to show only the fake story's headline and is doctored to resemble news articles on Dawn.com. However, certain grammatical and stylistic deviations point to the glaring inauthenticity of the screenshot.

Firstly, a sans serif font has been used for the headline while the site uses a serif font. The line serving to separate the headline and the author is light grey in the fake screenshot while Dawn.com uses a prominent black coloured line.

Additionally, the colour of the font used for the author and the timestamp in the fake screenshot appear to be different. Similarly, the font below the Dawn logo for today's newspaper appears bold; on the real site the font is not bold.

Moreover, the icons for sharing the story on social media have been compressed in the fake screenshot using a photo editor. Similarly, the wrong font and colour have been used to indicate the number of comments on the fake story.

This is not the first attempt to mislead the public by circulating fake news using the Dawn brand.

Earlier, in April a fake social media post doctored to pose as Dawn.com surfaced on Facebook and Instagram attempting to mislead the public by suggesting that Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa had been "possibly infected" with Covid-19 and falsely claimed that he was under self-quarantine.

In October 2018, another fake screenshot of a news story attempted to mislead the public by suggesting that PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz was expecting and falsely claimed that "Dawn news" had obtained her medical reports.

Earlier in August that year, yet another screenshot of a fake news story falsified to look like an article on Dawn.com had surfaced on social media, in an attempt to mislead the public by implying that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Faisal Vawda had withdrawn a petition against the alleged corruption of Karachi mayor Wasim Akhtar.

In a similar occurrence, in June 2018, a fake Facebook post screenshot doctored to pose as Dawn.com was shared on social media. It attempted to misinform the public and stakeholders by suggesting that Afghanistan had accepted the Durand Line as an official border.

The doctored image had led to the Afghan National Security Council (NSC) to issue a press release that mistakenly assumed the post was legitimate.

Indians are desperate to save face after the 27th Feb humiliation. They badly want to get back at us LOL

For me it is very hard to find truth when people of both countries have a crappy record of telling lies to their public. Thanks God I am not living in that part of the world. Total waste of human resources and what not. It is not like each citizen in that part of the world enjoys first class living standards. These so called internet warriors do not know what a real war looks like. There is no winner only human loss.

Why are some Indians so obsessed with knocking down a Pakistan plane? Is it because of the embarrassment of the Abhinandan episode or to make up up for the fact that they shot down their aircraft down in panic?

I mean this is like the 5th time they have started a rumour about a Pakistan plane being knocked down lol.

they seriously need to save thre face, so they can show off ..... like that.

an epic fail ....

they paint thre own Mig-21 as Pakistani Jet .....

Seems as if the events of last Feb are still haunting the Indians.... they just cannot accept the fact that their airforce was slapped around like a little B.

A false equivalence here makes no sense. It is clear that in the last few years who has been lying and who has not, who made up stories about the Feb 27 events despite overwhelming evidence against it.

There are many Pakistani's who complained to have seen IAF planes on Karachi skilines. This Dawn news picture maybe a photoshop but below tweets are real.

Maybe Karachi residents mistook Pak airforce planes with Indian jets? There are some videos of the blackout as well.

Where in any of the tweets have anyone confirmed to seeing IAF jets in Karachi? Scratching my head over this.

The only tweet close to possible is this Salman Manzoor account, and even he mentioned LOC which is in Kashmir and if you open his account, you will see the recent tweets taunting India over fake news..

Man, are you guys this desperate?

From any of these tweets, how did you reach the conclusion that the India media and twitter keyboard warriors are reporting?

I can confirm there was no blackout. It was again fake news. I saw this Arnab guy's show. Mona Alam took him to cleaners, thats why he didnt let her speak for much LOL

I just saw the whole clip. I am starting to believe the Arnab Goswami show is all fixed, Arnab speaks to all the guests prior to the show and gives clear instructions on how to behave which ensures a shouting fest and plenty of views.

P.S. Mona Alam is quite a looker :) ... Sighh

Our MiG-21 champs are behind this, I tell ya.

And we didn't shoot down our own helicopter this time.

How can you make chai when there's no bijli? :batman:

Mona Alam is the only intelligent speaker he invites from Pakistan, rest dont even bother showing up. Bunch of no name Army officers invited to get whipped for the entertainment of the saffron junta.

Not sure if its fixed, but he surely doesnt let intelligent speakers speak. He and his little alleged rapist croney Gaurav treat the whole show like Bollywood.

Surprisingly you even watch that crap. I have only seen 2-3 min clips that somebody shares on YouTube and it is headache inducing, imagine watching Arnab shouting for an hour or more. That'll be unbearable.

Tribune Fact Check: Indian media manufactures 'Karachi blackout'

Indian news oulets and twitterati late last night claimed that an emergency blackout was imposed in Karachi with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets patrolling the skies after a formation of Indian Air Force (IAF) jets was identified at the border.

The Express Tribune analysed the claim and found it to be false and just another attempt by New Delhi to spread war hysteria.

A viral video has been shared thousands of times on Twitter and Facebook, as well as, through whatsapp purportedly showing the coastal city plunged in darkness with the sound of jets reverberating in the background.

The unverified video was peddled by almost a dozen news outlets including India Today and Times of India in the neighbouring country as supposed ‘proof’ that there was a blackout in the city.

However, no major electricity breakdowns were even reported in the Karachi on June 10.

While another video claimed to show a Pakistani F-16 being downed by the IAF.

A google image reverse search found the video was of a Eurofighter jet falling into the sea in Italy back in 2017.

While another Indian user also shared the same claim.

A google image reverse search found that the screengrab was taken from a YouTube video of a PAF F-16 releasing flares at night in 2017.

A screengrab of fake headline and cover photo of Pakistani news outlet Dawn.com was also shared claiming a PAF F-16 had gone missing.

What has Pakistan done now? Oh may be upcoming elections in Bihar has a lot to do with this?

It's getting boring now. I think we should start flying our planes over Chinese territory for a change. Bhakhts will also love this because according to them and our mediawalas India > China. :inti

I don't support or believe everything the Indian government does or says, I never once believed 300 terrorists were killed in Balakot, along with the ridiculous stories such as IAF jet shooting down a 'missile' which was fired from a PAF jet etc :)). However I am not a Pseudo Secular idiot either though that come on here and sings the Pakistani tune to get their support because majority don't give 2 hoots about them in India :inti:

Please spare us. You would take -7% Economic Growth if it meant Damodardas's average son and his hippo-lookalike sidekick addressed you on TV with their spiel.

You like them more than you like India, and you like living in Australia more than you like living in India too.

Fake news seems to be going through the roof in India. They are now capturing locations in AJK and GB on google maps.

What has gone wrong with India? You don't really see this anywhere else in the world.

This is kind of sad to be honest. I wonder if these guys think they are actually accomplishing something by doing this. I think they are in the third stage of denial, where people try to cling on to false hope.

Anyways if these guys really think these places are In India, they should try visiting especially without a visa lol.

Fake news problem in India is beyond repair. The master in chief himself is a peddler of fake news and the biggest beneficiary.

I know a few that have personally told me, without using these exact words, that Pakistan is already nearly separated into 4-5 pieces - for Muhajirs, Pathan, Balochis, Sindhis, etc - and it's just a formality before it's official. Given it's a few that told me this directly, it would suggest it's a lot bigger number, since most of them wouldn't say this openly to a Pakistani.

These clowns are saying that in 2020, when Pakistan is far more stable than it was 8-12 years. And Pakistan is supposed to disintegrate now as opposed to then. To be fair, they probably thought it would disintegrate 8-12 years ago.

Well there is one thing that no man can control and that is "time". These people cannot change history and all documentaries/news/etc made on K2 over the years which had one work associated with it that is Pakistan. They would have to live with the fact that whenever K2 is mentioned Pakistan is mentioned in the same breath.

These are innocent people, successfully fooled by our C grade media channels and their anchors. :inti

And i thought our media was cancer. India media is terrible and has zero credibility. Not just that but the government partakes fully in the propoganda and lying as well. Its 1984 in India basically..

Fake news is a very big problem worldwide. Potential solutions can be fines and lawsuits.

There are many Pakistani's who complained to have seen IAF planes on Karachi skilines. This Dawn news picture maybe a photoshop but below tweets are real.

Maybe Karachi residents mistook Pak airforce planes with Indian jets? There are some videos of the blackout as well.

Wondering why this poster didn't bother to come back at this thread :)))

Desperation of highest level..

This has to be a new low, one of the the official twitter accounts of the Indian army tweeted fake news and only took it out when called out.

An old video was shared by Chinar Corps-Indian Army as the recent ceasefire violation by Pakistan. Fake news by trolls is one thing but official army channels doing it is just something else.

Arnab will never let the other side speak at all. He turned their volume down, he moves the camera to another person as soon as a counter argument is given and just to avoid being embarrased he even changes topic. This has to be the worst and biased show ever and his whole channel is dependent on fake newz from Pakistan, otherwise he will lose viewers and ratings.

And there are a couple of locals ho also take him and his BJP masters to cleaners, like Nishant Verma and a few other professors. Nishant, just kills them and I am impressed with his courage.

Listen how this BJP ******* is taken to the cleaners by Nishant. This Patra is known to redicule people on live TV and here get's a bit of his own medicine back.

Why do you waste your time on these clowns ? They do not deserve our attention.

Why do you waste your time on these clowns ? They do not deserve our attention.

It’s important to have knowledge of them when discussing matters with their supporters and to see how they brainwash their awaam with lies, so have to waste some time on them, unfortunately.

They do not deserve anyone's attention in India either but still get it because of only one thing and that is Pakistan. These hypocrites earn their salaries by talking about Pakistan 24x7 but they have problem if someone like 'Mika' goes to Pakistan and earn money legally lol. :inti

fake-news.jpg

The fake screenshot reads, “Pakistani submarine mistakens a fishing boat as Indian Navy ship, last minute call averted a major disaster”.

Neither ARY News nor any other news outlet or agency reported the story which is completely false and baseless.

This is not the first time that Indian social media pages or even the mainstream news media spread such baseless rumours but probably the first time that a fake screenshot is used to claim that ARY News published such a baseless story.

History of forgeries

Soon after the alleged “surgical strike” in 2019, the Indian media, in its attempt to bring some “proof” for the Indian government’s false claims ran fake audio notes.

The Indian news channels while trying to prove that their IAF men actually did some damage probably tasked some dubbing artists from Bollywood to make fake audio notes as Pakistanis living near Balakot who said that they witnessed some “Qayamat Ka Manzar” in Balakot that day.

The video released by a Hindi news channel generated a lot of laughs as the channel claimed that it has obtained an audio conversation between two militants while all audience could hear were two Indians talking to each other posing as Pakistani Muslims in typical Bollywood fashion. The highlight of the forgery is their use of word “Janaab”.

“Janab, Lag Gai, buhat grenad fatay (not phatay)” was all one could hear and of course laugh.

Then, in a bid to prove false claims that Indian Air Force shot down a Pakistan F-16 aircraft on February 27, India’s Zee News made itself a laughing stock by presenting wrapper of ‘F-16 Naswar‘ as an evidence in support of the claim.

As this time, the Indian social media pages tried to mislead the public by using ARY News template, we feel it as our responsibility to alert the people about their devious designs.

Fake news 'screenshot' posing as Dawn.com about PNS Saad surfaces on social media

A screenshot of a fake news story doctored to look like an article on Dawn.com surfaced on social media on Sunday.

This is the second such image to surface in a span of five days — both widely shared by Indian Twitterati.

The fake screenshot attempts to mislead the public by suggesting that a Pakistani submarine, PNS Saad, engaged a civilian boat.

A caption under the photo says: "A Pakistani fishing boat was intercepted mistakenly amid Indo-Pak tensions yesterday night."

The image is cropped to show only the fake story's headline and is doctored to resemble the homepage of Dawn.com. However, certain grammatical and stylistic deviations point to the glaring inauthenticity of the screenshot.

Firstly, a sans serif font has been used for the headline while the site uses a serif font. Also, the excerpt underneath the picture is entirely in uppercase in contrast to Dawn.com's style and uses a font which is found nowhere on the website.

Additionally, the font below the Dawn logo for today's newspaper appears blurry and of a lighter colour. The red 'Live' icon above the headline is also blurry.

Moreover, the timestamp under the story about when it was last updated is missing.

This is not the first attempt to mislead the public by circulating fake news using the Dawn brand.

On June 10, a fake screenshot suggested that a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 fighter jet had gone 'missing' during a 'panic situation' in Karachi.

Now what is this newfound fascination with this PNS Saad story? :inti
