Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail - The solution to Pakistan's opening woes in LOIs?

Would be a great solution to our opening problems actually

Fakhar
Haris
Babar
Sarfraz
Talat
Malik
Shadab
Fahim
Hasan
Amir
Junaid

and everyone can bowl except for Babar

I like this just replace Malik with Imad and it makes the bowling stronger. Malik isn't a good hitter against pace.

Malik is a really good finisher. He is perfect at number 6.

Having said that he's not going to come in at 50/3 on a green pitch and get you to 150/3.

We need to groom Shadab as the #6. He is a dynamic batsman who has the perfect game for a number 6 - he can accumulate and hit big against spin and pace.

Maybe, but we already have two great hitters in Faheem (8) and Hasan (9). Shadab (6) is a similar type of player to Sarfraz except he is a better hitter against pace.

At 7 you need a guy who can bowl and hit well. This is where Imad fits in.

Think about this bowling:
1.
Amir
Junaid
Hasan
Faheem
Shadab
Imad
2.
Amir
Junaid
Hasan
Faheem
Shadab
Malik/Fakhar

The first one is easily better. Imad will keep it under 6 an over 99% of the time. The other two are part timers and will be targeted by opposing teams. They don't have immaculate line and length or wicket-taking deliveries. Our bowling is our strength and bowling part-timers like India will nullify that. Remember how in CT final, India had to Kedar Jadhav because they didn't have a 6th bowler? That cost them a lot. 6th bowler is important in our team because Shadab and Faheem have those days where they get phainty.

For batting, the order would be flexible. Shadab is best suited from overs 15-25, Imad in 25-35, Faheem 35-50 and Hasan 45-50.

Also remember that 1 year from now Shoaib bhai will be older and there is a high chance he will be past it.

This thread is probably null and void now because it seems like Fakhar and Babar will open from now on. Don’t mind that TBH.

I think opening in a T20 is completely different to opening in an ODI and I'd rather leave Babar at 3 as he seems quite settled there despite the blip vs. NZ. I'd rather have Haris open due to him just coming into the team.

Bhai jaan we don't need Imad when we have Haris, Talat, Malik and Fakhar aside of our 5 front line bowlers. India didn't have that luxury but we have 9 bowlers in my XI from before, not 5.

It is better to strengthen our batting, not our bowling. Either Malik plays or someone like Salman Agha comes in who is way below Malik in terms of quality.

Having your best batsmen open in ODIs and Tests is a recipe for failure IMO, especially outside Asia.

This is why I am against Azhar Ali opening in Tests aswell.

Haris is a halwa bowler. When was the last time he bowled in ODIs? We all saw what happened the last time Fakhar bowled.

And what's your obsession with Malik? He has failed in the last 7-8 matches now. A dud against top-sides and a Bradman against minnows
