What's new

Fakhar Zaman will be the first Pakistani to score a 200 in ODI

Which means absolutely nothing. However, I hope that Fakhar can be a player who can fire Pakistan to series wins against the top teams.

I think he can win us series like just he did in the T20 tri series tournament final against Aussies, was also the lone warrior in NZ series to some extent.

Of all the times to be at work. Well done to "The Man" Fakhar Zaman.

Will be hard, I don't know if there is a current top order Pakistan batsman that can do that maybe Malik but he's not good against quality teams or quality pacers.

Will be hard I said. Besides the dot ball percentage this is an incredible achievement. Well done Fakhar Zaman. Been waiting for a Pakistan batsman to achieve this.

This thread is nearly as big a fluke as Bilal7’s thread on how Pakistan would surprise the world in the Champions Trophy.

However, the timing of this thread was fantastic, and the OP deserves full credit for it. Congratulations are definitely in order.

Nonetheless, I am very sad today. Saeed Anwar is one of my all-time favorites, and to see his record broken against a third class team makes very sad.

I am not taking anything away from Fakhar, he has been a shining light for Pakistan, but this is an artificial record - a fake record that is nowhere near as worthy as Saeed Anwar’s 194 against India.
Not taking anything away from Anwar but plenty of people cast doubt if his 194 was the greatest knock by a Pakistani player (as he was using a runner most of his innings which is not fair play really)

No doubt it was. 194 in that era was unthinkable, only Viv had a more brutal knock. That too was in a 55 over match I believe, or I might be wrong

I almost replied yesterday that he didn’t have the longevity to do it, glad I didn’t lol.

Congrats to him, Zimbabwe or not most double hundreds have come against impoverished attacks, how is this different than Rohit pounding a minnow level Sri Lanka for two double tons at home.

Congratulations to Fakhar, that's a pretty crazy achievement, no matter the opposition. And to those who are not accepting the achievement to be "real", It's not like Pakistan hasn't played this level of teams in the past. IIRC we played terrible teams like Kenya and Canada in the 2011 WC.

Surely I deserve a POTW?!?!

You can’t just predict a specific player will be the first to score a 200 and the guy goes on to actually do it a few days later!

boyyyyy !! forget thread of the week , you won the INTERNETS for the week !!!! Great thread

I remember coming home after school board exams and saw Anwar pelting Kumble for 2 or 3 sixes in an over. Those were the days man!

RIDICULOUS PREDICTION THREAD! Gratz OP.. should've bought a lottery ticket instead though! Haha

It's just Zimbabwe but still, I hope he continues to make runs :)

Dude credit to where credit is due. The guy has to play against Zimbabwe and he did the most he could as a world class pro, scored a double ton and became the first Pakistani to do it. Many wannabes have failed at achieving this amazing feat!

Great thread and my apologies that I underestimated Fakhar's ability of playing long innings.

200 in a ODI is superb, irrespective of the opposition.

Credit to Fakhar for a very good innings.

Brilliant performance from Fakhar. He has the potential to become one of Pakistan's best ever modern era LOI bat .

So are odi 200's not overrated?

No, because unlike the other double hundreds, it didn’t come on a flat pitch against a weak attack, and it doesn’t represent how modern ODI cricket has become a joke due to the imbalance between bat and ball.

Scoring a 200 in ODIs at that time was unthinkable, Gary Kirsten came close in the 1996 World Cup but it was a minnow attack.

Yes he used a runner, but he was suffering from fever, and at one point, he looked like score well above 200.

That innings was pretty much what Rohit’s 264 is today. A feat that looks impossible to better, and it is not a surprise that it took 13 years for the record to be broken (and 12 to be equaled).

Yo guyssss, we don't have to turn this into a Anwar vs Fakhar Zaman! Why can't we enjoy both? No doubt Anwar's 194 was >>>>>>>> this knock vs Zimbabwe in terms of quality of opposition, pressure situation (i.e. all games vs India), etc. but 200 is a landmark milestone. It's specially impressive given that most people don't consider Fakhar to have the temperament to bat long!

He's going to be the first Pakistani to score a double hundred IA. I can feel it, and it could happen anytime soon. The only player who bats high enough in the order and who plays the modern game against each and every opposition. He will score a double ton if not a 180+ score on a flat deck.

Watch this thread!

He did it.

The initial thread title was,

“Fakhar Zaman will be the first Pakistani to score a 200 in ODI”

I was convinced and had no doubt he would do I don’t really need the feel for the question mark.

Watch he will do it again! He will score 180+ once again!

I knew it.

He scored 138 against England in 2019 as well. This guy is our big daddy hundred player!

I've changed the title back to what it was.

For a long time I have always been fascinated at the lack of Pakistan not producing an ODI opener who is going to bat long and score a 150+ score

These two boys Imam ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman are the only openers since Saeed Anwar who can show that they have the grit to bat long and go massive!

Even Babar’s ceiling seems to be a 130* score, not a 180 or 200+ score

Imam will need to face minimum of 180 deliveries to score 200. Also batting first. He cant contribute in any chase over 300.

Soft player who scores soft runs. Cant compare Imam with FZ.

Fakhar is a champ.

But you can’t take away the fact that Imam did score 150 against the later that summer world champions England. Before him, the only other player in Pakistan who had scored a meaningful ODI score (besides Fakhar) was Imran Nazir who scored that 160 against Zimbabwe in the 2007 World Cup.

I recon Imam can get a 170+ score if he does play 150 balls on a belter like Bristol again. But it does mean that the opposition will have a player who will score 200 in 130 odd deliveries.

Salman Butt did show glimpses of playing a big daddy innings before he was caught cheating. What a waste of a talent!

Thanks for the praise but Fluke? I think not mate. Mods are witness to this, they changed the thread title to a question mark rather than the complete statement I submitted. I was never in doubt and my reasoning was justified. I clearly said that it’s his modern game ability and batting right at the top that will enable him to do so. A fluke would be to predict Asif Ali would break DeVilliers record of the fastest hundred, as it seems he will need lots of factors going his way. But no, not for Fakhar and this record.

Mark my words, he will score a 180+ score against a top tier side also in this modern age

HAHAHA amazing mate! The fact that he called your prediction a fluke makes this second prediction coming true even funnier.

So its will be worth nothing.
Imam is a very soft player. Doesnt have it in him to score serious runs when the heat is on.

Was a genuine India basher. Apart vs India I dont think he made big runs in ODI's.

But he did fancy himself against India though, a rare breed of Pakistani batsmen who love to feast on brown men wearing sky blue!

He may have scored a 150+ against India in the sub continent had ties resumed normally and hadn’t been caught for match fixing

Love owning this guy and bumping his posts from 7-8 months ago. He has zero cricket vision.
