Fakhar Zaman's stunning knock against Aus takes Pak to their largest T20I chase and Tri-Series win

Congrats to all Pakistani fans.Brilliant run chase. Dekha my prediction Usman Chada?

Congrats Pakistan!!!
Sarfi needs to lose a good few kilos, embarrassing to see his tummy flapping when running 😂
Mamoon in hiding trying to figure out how Australia are still better than Pak and would beat us 9/10 times

What a win by Pakistan, beautifully set up by Fakhar Zaman.

He does it again in a final.

:pakflag2

Was a gem of a knock ably supporter by Malik.

This guy has been the real find of PSL!

What a chase! Fakhar Zaman is a real hero Ma sha Allah!

First tournament win against Aus in 28 years according to Rambo.

Well done to Sarfraz and Malik as well. Good contributions.

Another fluke victory for Pakistan
btw.. Where's Mamoon?

Congrats Pakistan what a beautiful win today they never seemed to panic despite losing two early wickets. Stating the obvious but indeed Fakhar Zaman is clutch what an innings today

Congratulations to Pakistan on a record T20I chase. When was the last time against a top team when our bowling failed but our batting saved the day ?!

Only a biased person could not see the progress made with this LOI team. Fakhar Zaman and Asif Ali have provided much needed power to a previously one paced lineup. If we can sort out positions 2 and 3 then we've a team that can contend for the World T20.

The bowling and fielding has seen better days - I hope this was only a blip.

Finally, it's very satisfying to beat Australia in a tournament final. We now have 9 consecutive T20I series wins in a row and those who doubted the worthiness of our #1 T20I ranking have their answer.

Pakistani dressing room lacks passion. They should have come down on the field running hard to hug Malik and Asif like Bangladesh :therock

Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan. What a victory. This just validates how we are progressing so heavily upwards in terms of LOI cricket. Its definitely going to make a lot of people cry. Thankyou Fakhar Zaman, you champ! Pakistani fans owe a lot to him.

I enjoyed the chase. What I found surprising and atypical for a Pakistani chase was Fakhar consistently providing us with high scoring overs around the middle. Normally we would leave everything for the last 4 overs with a huge RR. This time we went into the death overs with RR pretty much manageable which led to a comfortable finish.

Who expected Pakistan to win after they were 2-2 in the first over?We won quite comfortably thanks to the 'hack'.The stars have been aligning quite often for him.

Very good win. What a knock by Fakhar. He was excellent. Our T20 run certainly isn't a fluke.

Fluke after fluke...Zaman got luckyyy...of course Short played all those shots skills required to edge a ball...May this run of flukes never stop.

..

Who expected Pakistan to win after they were 2-2 in the first over?

I did not but I'm glad i was proven wrong. Just hope we stop relying so heavily on Fakhar. Can't wait to have Babar back, Malik and Asif looked brilliant. Sarafraz has been better than he has been but not amazing

Pakistan are not known for chasing down big totals let alone in a final so this is a great achievement.

At the half way mark, I thought Pak had conceded just too many runs

180+ is always a stiff run chase

Great run chase esp after losing 2 wickets in the 1st over. Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz also played their parts today

Fakhar has been superb throughout this tri-series. So consistent with the bat. His blistering knock made the latter half of the run chase pretty much a formality. He scored in every game except the 1st match vs Australia

Result also means Pakistan will stay as the no 1 T20 side, a position they have occupied since 2016.

I never had any doubt about Fakhar’s talent and what a game changer this guy can be even when he was batted down the order in his debut T20 and many tried to potrait him as hack just bcz he got out on the boundary without reslizing how esdily he had hit that and wasnt shy of targeting his areas.

What I saw in his first PSL was that how strong he was with his hitting areas and how good his hitting technique was and his defensive technique is also much better than many realize.

More importantly he has the temperament ro play at this level, he knows his game and is intelligent enough to understand match situations.

Many more trophies to come

When in a final just leave it to FZ, Whattaaa player!

I am bit disappointed in Husain Talat, not that he has been too shabby in his career as he has done reasonably well but he needs to open up himself and practice his hitting areas. If he wants to become a match changer or a big match player he needs to be confident of his abilities and hitting areas.

While Asif Ali and Fakhar Zaman both have shown they can deliver in big matches and Babar has really improved in the last 6 months in terms of performing under pressure.

Such players are needed in tournament finals and series deciders.

In bowling Shaheen is one hell of a find, no pressure and nothing fazes him other than many other skills in his kitty. Needs to be kept away from tests for 2,3 years as at this age with this height back issued can come into play.

However, must mention that his action is really smooth and minimizes excess pressure on any body part. He can transitioned in ODIs.

Tbf, Mamoon did say the tournament was useless. Maybe he saw the the writing on wall beforehand...

;-)

Congrats to all posters here. Slim
Fakhar has proven to get a clutch player. Australia on the other hand really need Smith and Warner back even in the T20 side . Also apart from Richardson and Stanlake, their bowling is utter rubbish. No wonder England smashed them. Pakistan's bowling seems to have improved radically in the last couple of years. Aamir/Hasan/Shaheen/Shadab/Fabeem is probably the best Lou attack going around.

Brilliant win... Best T20 side in the world

Excellent win by the team!

Showed everyone why we are the No. 1 team in the world!

In saying that we need to get a fielding coach ASAP.

My favourite Pakistani batsman. What a player. Great find by Pakistan. Even if he loses form in future he should be persisted with.

Heartiest congratulations to Pakistan. Great performance, truly well deserved.

Keep going guys!

Wasn't even watching (probably) but still recognises Sarf's value to the team :sarf2

Shaheen should be kept away from T20s imo as he can be a real wicket taker for us in test match cricket with his skills.

Fakhar is a fearless man, I thought no that’s why he does well in big games.. other Pakistani batsmen are sometimes too scared of failure and can’t show the bottle..

Hope Fakhar keeps this up... we have not had a top order batsman like him since Afridi was on his pomp as an opener..

You make a very good point.
I’ve always said that batting is all in the head.
Most first class players have the basics in terms of technique, what most lack is the mental side of things...

Fakhar just goes out there and plays naturally. Others get nervous and tighten up or have scrambled thinking..

Was really happy with that win. Think that over where that Australian bowler bowled like 4 wides was the turning point. TBH part of me still thought we would win even when we were 2-2. Fakhar Zaman deserved a century though, but this is a great win nevertheless

Just watched the highlights... what character shown by the side. Aus were 100 odd after 10 overs with 1 down. They were racing away and then to restrict them to 183 was a feat in itself. Then Pak were 2-2 after the first over and staring down the barrel, yet they ended up winning it with so much ease. This Pak side reminds me of Aus side of early 2000s where no matter what position you put them in they find a way to win it. Man I'm really stoked about this LOI side and looking forward to future series. Its a travesty that we hardly play any of the big boys often. Pretty sure we would absolutely smash every single team in world cricket apart from perhaps India or England.

Oh Mother!

Fakhar!

Congrats to the team. I'm now convinced we're the real deal in T20s.

Scandal or bowlers ravaged by long tough Test series or not, let's remember that Australia don't have half of the players that are first choice.

If only we were playing India so the best players could test each other.

Fakhar is comfortably the best T20 player we have (even better than Babar). The way he steps up when the odds are stacked agaisnt him and conquers the opposition makes him world class. God knows what our top order could've been if Sharjeel was around to partner up with Fakhar.

I feel after return of Babar, This team will be more potent, Only disappointment was Talat failure. I still feel he has a good potential and should be persisted in the future. If we some how manage to get one young off spinner we will have a very good line up.

Not yet mate! Wait for few more series win against Top side like SA, India. I think coming Asia Cup will be litmus test for this side. I still feel we have to sort out mantle block against while playing India . If we do so we can beat them in any tournament for simple reason. In tournaments skills play only little where as big heart is major factor.

Rubbish win. Clearly the aussies just let us win that. Complete fluke..if you want to watch a proper match watch how india won. Actually just watch India all the time not this flukey team..

Yes we saw that in the ODI series in New Zealand.

Since the Champions Trophy, we have only played on tough ODI series and we got utterly destroyed. So much overreaction over beating minnows and a weak Australia in a pointless series.

Yes and had we lost then i’m sure you would come here and said it was expected because we’re a pathetic side....

T20 Win against England = Fluke
T20 win against Kiwis = Fluke
T20 wins against Srilanka Windies = Fluke because they were depleted sides.

Hell even our test match win against England at Lords was a fluke just as the CT2017 final against India...

So really we can’t win whatever happens.

Rather then priaising the talent we have and the progress we’ve shown in our cricket despite the pathetic first class structure let’s just call every victory a fluke...

How about appreciating Fakhar’s innings when were 2 for 2 chasing 180 odd rather then dissing our players... I assure you had Australia win this low grade tournament they would have celebrated it, just like any other nation would have...

As usual, people love to put words in my mouth. Just because I call Champions Trophy win a fluke doesn’t mean that every Pakistan win is one.

Apart from the Champions Trophy, none of the wins that you highlighted were flukes.

This tri-series win was by no means a fluke either, but neither was it a big deal.

I remember one Indian poster on this forum telling us Fakhar won't be around the team in a year or so, right after the CT final

Aur ab ghayab, predictably so

You still haven't offered a valid explanation as to why the CT victory was a fluke.

You missed the point.
Firstly, you mentioned the ODI series against the Kiwis when we’re talking about T20’s.
Then you said the tri-series wasn’t a big deal...

So you’re damned if you win and damned if you lose...
