Khusdil, Mohd Haris, Hasan Ali and Hussain Talat are not good enough and have not performed enough in this PSL to be selected. Abbas Afridi is not only good bowler with 17 wickets but also sensible tail end batsman, and he seem to be sensible personality. Suffain on psl performance are not good but he has bowled well in international matches. Tariq also deserved to be included, but there are already two main spinners in the team with Abrar and Shadab., and Saim and Agha as part time.

Sick and tired of you people making own selection criterias and standards!

Who performed enough in the PSL?? RIZWAN???

Allah has given you such an opportunity in life which normal job people like us dream of. Focus on your bowling perform and come back as simple as that.

No and I do not know what is the answer is for Pakistan wicketkeeping woes but the solution is definitely not Azam K or Haris, others not given enough exposure to develop or prove their potential yet. As far as you being sick and crying it does not affect me, you just ruining your own health.

The selection committee has named a 16-member men’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, with Salman Ali Agha continuing as captain of the team.

All three matches will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the schedule set to be announced soon.

The squad has been selected based on players’ performances in the ongoing HBL PSL X, which concludes on 25 May. This series also marks the first assignment for newly appointed head coach Mike Hesson.

16-member squad (in alphabetical order):

Salman Ali Agha (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan (wicket-keeper) and Saim Ayub

Sahibzada Farhan is a Wicket keeper? 😯

Faheem Ashraf 45(23) and (2/33) yesterday. Proving his selection right. I think he did a fine job in PSL and TBH, we don't need Hussain Talat in the presence of Faheem, Khushdil and Wasim. We need a genuine spinner actually.
I would say we don't need Faheem for any reason . For 8 years we have been giving him chances for some periodical performance in some low level matches but he always fails at the big stage , not an international level material .

Balanced team selected

Personal opinion/bias aside, based on PSL and continuity this is a pretty good squad.

Personally I would've picked Abbas and Muqeem over Faheem and Talat. Also, and a lot of people will disagree with this, but Rizwan will always be a better option than any other keeper purely on his wicketkeeping skills. Play him at 6, 7 or 8, doesn't matter, the value he brings as a specialist keeper is undeniable. For me a safe keeper is worth a lot more than 15-20 quick runs.
Totally agreed with you

I hope we see Fakhar finally opening in t20s. Don’t care whether it’s saim or Farhan alongside him , but I’m done seeing him at 3 or 4.

I am finding it difficult to disagree with this post.

Fakhar and Farhan can open as well.. Left hand-right Hand combo will be a good thing. Saim can bat at 3.. Pakistan can try every motion tbh... farhna/fakhar or saim/fakhar or farhan/saim.

Why all batters in Pak wants to open in White ball format. We had a time when only youngsters use to open for Pakistan in white ball format and seniors used to bat in middle orders (in inzi captaincy era)

Its easier at least in t20 because of powerplay and in most games ball doesn't do much to challenge technique - unless you're playing in new zealand early season.

Abbas afrid
Where is everyone who was crying for Abbas Afridi?

He earned his spot, was selected for Pakistan, and gave good performances for Pakistan.

To drop him you need a solid reason and looking slightly off but still being top wicket taker while also showing improvements in batting is very far from a solid reason.

I honestly can't believe anyone can sincerely believe he deserves to get dropped.

These whimsical selection decisions will lead us nowhere.

No one is arguing that he deserved to get dropped.

The point is, the guy clearly isnt bowling well. Same case goes for Jamal and Naseem Shah (who I think is unfairly picked). You are going to destroy this guy's career if you play him unchecked at the moment. He will get smashed in a few games and then totally discarded. So its better that he goes back and gets his act together.

Fair enough. I can see your point and I generally am in favour of such tactical rests but I personally don't see his current situation that way.

He generally became better as the psl progressed and I don't think he should have been dropped rn.

I actually like the squad. Bar probably Naseem Shah it's actually pretty good.

There aren't any good allrounders so they probably had no choice to go with Faheem Ashraf again. But he did get good numbers.

Good to see Sahibzada Farhan return and keeping Hassan Nawaz. However Sahibzada Farhan being classed as a WK is a bit of stretch.

Think Sufiyaan Muqeem should have been kept in all honestly. He's a handing spinner.

I was a fan of Mhd Haris but watching him in PSL has been painful. The guy has regressed massively and now bats like a tail-ender. I don't think he deserves a place in the squad; but then the other option is Rizwan... So, we're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Personally, I think Hassan Nawaz is a hack and is not international level. But after how he's performed at the PSL, he deserves a spot in the side.

PSL where a player has like 3 catches dropped on average.
We do not have many choices, but Faheem is a TTF and.

Easiest spot to bat in T20s. New ball that rarely swings and with only two fielders out.

These are the stats of 2 bowlers... One guy is selected without any performance and also made vice captain, and the other guy is dropped even after proving everyone wrong after getting every chance he could get. And you are talking about his post??? LOL

crazy that people are not talking about statuses and posts instead of performances... Prove sufiyan is worse than shadab and we are good.

No no I dont have any problem with posting verses. Thats actually a lot better than writing those english quotes of never give up.
My problem is not this and can never be as a muslim astagfirullah.
But i am saying why loose hope So quickly when you know you can go and perform better in domestic circuit and shut everyone's mouth.
I hate these tweets stuff.
Just work in silence and take your game to next level.

I don't have to prove that
I am not his hater infact he is 100 times better bowler than Shadab. I am actually happy shadab lost yesterday otherwise trust me PCB would have definitely made him captain this year.
I only have problem with these tweets why do these players loose hope so quickly that they feel someone should hear them. Allah has given you such a stage where every day you getting a chance to prove yourself through domestic games or psl or through so many leagues.

So you think the 35+ averaging Naseem, who went over 50+ last 3 PSL matches, should have been selected over the 22 averaging Afridi based on PSL and continuity?

Ok then.

In PSL 10, Shaheen Shah Afridi outperformed Naseem Shah by a clear margin—taking 16 wickets in 36.1 overs at an average of 18.00 and an economy rate of 7.96, while Naseem managed just 9 wickets in 39 overs, averaging 40.33 with a costly economy of 9.30.

Despite this contrast, the selectors have picked Naseem for the upcoming series against Bangladesh, leaving out Shaheen. This surprising decision by the PCB raises serious questions about selection criteria, especially when form and performance tell a different story.

Can’t believe Shaheen Afridi has been dropped? He should be the captain, in fact, because he is the only PSL captain to win 3 titles, which is amazing. He is by far the best fast bowler we have in this country. It tells you how clueless the selectors are.

Best thing about the squad is no Rizwan or Babar. There are some quibbles with rest of the squad though. A lot of the squad just looks like it's giving chances/comebacks to whoever did well in PSL and they did the same last year and it backfired spectacularly. I am sorry but I just don't believe in guys like Hasan Ali no matter how well they perform in PSL.

In particular, the Sufiyan exclusion. Just makes little sense and he's shown quite a bit of potential. Unless he's injured or something I don't see how it makes sense.

Faheem over Abbas Afridi. Let's please stop with these Faheem comebacks all the time. Abbas is younger with a lot more upside as he can bowl much faster, has good slower deliveries and has shown solid ability to hit sixes.

Hussain Talat inclusion. I am just not a fan. I think he's a mediocre batsmen with little power and minimal ability to hit sixes and only an extra bowling options if things going awry. I'd rather just give someone like Haider Ali a shot.

My XI that I would try:

Saim
Nawaz
Agha (flexible depending on situation)
Fakhar (career SR of 156 at this position - Pakistan's only good left handed option in the middle to attack leg spinner & left arm spinners during the middle phase of the game)
Shadab
Haris
Khushdil
Faheem
Wasim
Naseem
Abrar

Balances of lefties & righties batters. 7 legitimate bowling options. Batting depth until 8.
Could also look to swap Haris/Nawaz positions if they prefer Haris opening and Nawaz showing good skills batting in the middle order. Personally, I like Nawaz opening more because he's shown the ability that once he is set, he is truly explosive and can take the game away from the opposition.

Once more Sahibzada Farhan getting hard done by. He's an opener. Why select him if you're not going to play him as an opener?

He was made captain once and sacked on behalf of a couple of chances as soon as new mgmt stepped in... PCB is pathetic

Hussain talat and niazi both don't deserve their selection.

Niazi has performed worse than Shadab khan with the bat( 20 avg @ 132 sr vs 24 avg @155) What's the point of such a specialist batsman? One off innings should never be basis for selection.

Atleast one full season of performance should be necessary.

He's good in finishing role, won a match for kk as a finisher.

Another surprising omission for me is Khurram Shehzad. I really rate him as a bowler & feel like he could be a multi format pacer. Unfortunately his injury record isn't good.

How does "Allah helps those who remain patient/steadfast" is losing patience ? I don't understand your reasoning.

Also in a professional setup like England and Australia, one can rely on pure silent hardwork doing the job for you. Whereas, in yaari dosti and sifarish ridden culture of Pakistan, you are left behind if you are a silent acha bacha.

There is a reason why Shehzad, Imam, Malik, Amir, Imad, Tayyab types have played a lot more international cricket than they should have and why shareef players like Kamran, Mir Hamza, Saud etc kept toiling in domestics.

Talat is an extremely limited player, an inferior version of Malik who shouldn't be near an international setup.

Irfan Niazi is selected on the basis of potential which he has shown in glimpses at international and domestic level. Moreover he avgs 46 in FC which means he can play a longer innings. He should be given a long run just like Saim was backed.

Because they are obsessed with the 35 averaging Naseem Shah's age.

I would have preferred Khurram over Naseem in his current form. Khurram is an underrated pacer. Even Mir Hamza has done better job than Naseem. Nasee's selection was all based on hype.

Why play Shaheen against Bangladesh in T20Is ? Our premier fast bowlers i.e Naseem, Shaheen and Harris should all have been rested for this series.

Huh? Where did I say that? I was saying Afridi should have been picked! Also I hadnt realized Naseem had such bad numbers. Definitely doesn't deserve to be in the team.

Shocking how Sleectors do not reward good perforamnces and allow players to develop , leaving out Abbas Afridi and Sufyan makes no sense considering their performances in ver limited opportunities they got at internationals.

When you have lord Shadab and lord Naseem in side, you will see such stuff happening.

Saim Ayub
Mohammad Haris
Sahibzada Farhan
Fakhar Zaman
Mohammad Naeem
Hassan Nawaz

These are the opening options that Pakistan has in T20 right now. I don't think anyone is clamoring to see a return to 125 SR days.

Faheem Ashraf is a waste of time and cannon fodder in International Cricket. Pakistan Domestic circuit and local talent in PSL is so low quality that it makes Fahrem Ashraf look exceptional.

He is Garbage!

I don't think Khurram is in the T20 squad which is what is being discussed in this thread and neither are some others.

So good point but not relevant to what I said.

Thanks

Starting X1

Saim Ayub
Fakhar Zaman
Salman Ali Agha
Hassan Nawaz
Mohammad Haris
Shadab Khan
Khushdil Shah
Faheem Ashraf
Hasan Ali
Mohammad Wasim Jnr
Abrar Ahmed

Overall a decent squad but Haris Rauf should of been rested for this series with someone like an Ubaid shah or Ali Raza given a chance.

Hussain Talat is more of a 50 over player batting at 6 or 7 is not his game.

Farhan s form has got him selected however long term Muhammad Naeem of Qalandars is a better prospect.

  1. Saim Ayub
  2. Mohammad Haris (wk)
  3. Fakhar Zaman
  4. Salman Agha (c)
  5. Hassan Nawaz
  6. Shadab Khan
  7. Khushdil Shah
  8. Faheem Ashraf
  9. Hasan Ali
  10. Haris Rauf/Mohammad Wasim Jr.
  11. Abrar Ahmed

Yeah, it's fine. Although saim isnt justified in the squad. He was poor this psl. Ik people like saim but I dont appreciate players making it based of past hype
The squad is full of hyped up players, Batting looks very weak. Hassan Nawaz was very inconsistent (but had a few good innings in PSL), Sahibzada Farhan has failed to perform on international level in past, Saim hasn't recovered his form since his injury. Hussein Talat another who couldn't translate his domestic performance into International, Shahdab been a long time since he performed at international level. Mohd Harris another with no consistency, Faheem Ashraf also has terrible averages at international level. The list goes on and on. Having a couple of them is ok, but the whole line up is very iffy and unreliable. Selected on wishful thinking.

I still can't believe they didn't pick Sufiyaan Muqeem. He would have been a good option to try against Bangladesh after impressing against Zimbabwe.

That's everyone in Pakistan lol

Despite some issues, this is best Pakistani T20I squad in years. With emphasis on strike rates, we are moving in the right direction.

1. Saim
2. Farhan
3. Fakhar
4. Salman
5. Hassan
6. Khushdil
7. Harris

Thats is not a bad top 7 at all specially in Asian conditions and if we pursue similar approach (Hesson remains), I think we have a real chance in next T20 WC. We just need to invest in spinners like Sufyan and Yaqoob. Dropping them in this series was a blunder.

This team has too many openers... Until they adjust Hassan nawaz in middle order, we have 5 actually.

Farhan, fakhar, saim, haris, hassan nawaz. But it is a good squad ignoring shadab, hussain talat and Naseem here.

Fakhar Zaman last 6 scores in T20Is:

1 v Bangladesh
5 v Ireland
4 v Canada
13 v India
11 v USA
9 v England

43 runs
7.17 average
100.00 strike-rate

Not playing Farhan is unfair both to him and the team. I hope they play him next game instead of waiting for the results of the second game and then only playing him if its a dead rubber.
