I was horrified by how he struggled today with the leg side yorker line the NZ bowler's were bowling at him because any decent left handed batsman would have been able to flick it effortlessly on the leg side. Also seems weak against the short ball coming from around the wicket which was puzzling given how easily he handled the same tactic against the English bowlers in the CT.

This is where Grant Flower has to earn his keep. Why do our players show the same technical problems and weakness with zero improvement?

Seems like the curse of the classy left handed opener.Quite a few who came on,showed some promise then poof.
Salman Butt,Sharjeel Khan,Nasir Jamshed, now (hopefully not) Fakhar Zaman

Grant Flower is getting a fat pay check like our bowling coach.

Fakhar have this weakness against leg side and into his body bowling since the start.

Teams will exploit it.

Which begs the question why is he being overpaid?

Fakhar is showing lack of match awareness and bowler awareness. Like today he was trying to slog Ferguson like he was a medium pacer. Fakhar needs to choose his bowlers carefully. He needs to learn that some bowlers need to be respected.

I know right. Why ain’t grant going out there and performing for him? I mean that’s what he’s being paid to do right?

I wonder how long will it be before Fakhar goes the Nasir Jamshed way.

This. He needs to relax. Goes way too hard at it from ball 1. Today NZ clearly were a bowler short. He should have knocked it around and take on the weak links like sodhi and munro.

Hardly any batsmen other than Babar and Imam have improved under him. Time to find a new batting coach.

It's not just leg side, he is also struggling with his timing in Asian conditions . i feel he has a problem with his back lift . You need to adjust your back lift with different conditions. I don't know whether anyone is helping him or not. He needs some proper guidance.

Pretty good on the leg-side today.

Only player in this PK team who can score big and quickly. He has many weaknesses but I would take him over all of other openers any day of the week.

Just imagine if Sharjeel Khan hadn't done that foolish act, we would have both opening. It would have been awesome to watch them bat together.

Both Hawkeye and Savak will be missing from this thread for a while.

I hope Fakhar scores another ton in the next match and ends the debate about his “hackness”.

If anybody actually watched the match, they wouldn't have a problem with this. Look at where England bowled to him. Moeen, Plunkett and Rashid were all trying to cramp him for room on his legs, so he is obviously going to hit in the leg side.

Precisely.

FZ will never be aesthetically pleasing but what he lacks in technique, he makes up in heart. He will fail more often than not, but his innings against Ind has earnt him a very long rope.

Fakhar is here to stay.

He isn’t going anywhere.

Just need Sharjeel Khan back or the Sahibzada Farhan’s to step up and we will have a solid modern-day opening combination.

FZ has heart, Sharjeel is an idiot and should not be anywhere near the team.

Sharjeel was trapped by Najam Sethi.

He admitted his “fault” because he thought he may have a chance to play again for Pakistan.

Should play his natural game. Looks like he was being too defensive recently. Hopefully this innings knocks some sense into him.

When the bowlers gone wrong it's all the coaches fault. When batters start performing it's nothing to do with coaches. I am no fan of Flower. But I think he has taught some of our batters the fundamentals of batting.

I also share this view.

Najam Sethi opened his mouth prematurely about having "conclusive evidence" and when it came to the investigation - to save face he wanted him banned.

I'm so happy to see Najam Sethi away from the PCB, he has a very shady past!

Nephew isn't going anywhere... the pattern of scoring 40s 50s 60s with a strike rate of 70s on flat tracks is working very well for nephew and uncle they dont care about team's needs or modern day cricket they are happy that his avg is good enough to shut up the mouth of critics. Inzi's instructions to nephew seem clear 'just maintain ur avg and u r untouchable , undroppable' even if team loses 50 consecutive matches because of slow batting his avg will keep him in the team forever

Chachu will lose his position if Pakistan doesn’t perform well in the WC.

And when that will happen so will Imam ul Haq disappear from the LOIs.

Imam is a good Test player but as a LO player, a big no from me.

I still don’t know how he became the chairman of PCB.

Guy doesn’t know the ABC of cricket.

And do not forget the corruption he has done in the first three seasons of PSL.

And probably he is the only reason why we couldn’t witness one of our best opening batsman after Saeed Anwar.

He wasn't trapped, the gormless idiot had form. There were stories about his behaviour going back a number of years.

Chachu will still be here, PM is his chum he will keep his job even if we fail badly in the WC.

Even if he goes, I dont think nephew is going to be dropped as Inzi's influence will remain considering he's a big name in Pak cricket and new CS wont make such a bold decision of dropping imam and to replace him with someone controversial like Sharjeel...nah don't see that happening. though we need such a change badly we needed that to happen before the WC

I hope better sense prevails and management play Babar or Abid Ali as an opening batsman.

Management clearly lack guts to make such a decision. Infact, it seems like Micky is playing give and take with Inzi he's playing nephew and in return he gets to keep his favourites (the likes of Amir) around the team.

Babar is the ideal partner for fakhar Someone who can bat through the innings and compliment fakhars aggressive style Babar isnt a 3 with his lack of power game Dont know why the management are pigeoning bhanjha in when clearly he has no place in the team

Grant Flower is fine. Real question is why our bowlers are averaging 47 since CT17 ?
