Will the Pakistani team be fasting during the tournament? Will it severely affect their performance? You would think it would since the matches are 7 hours long.

The fasts here are pretty challenging as it is, will be tough for pro sportsman; I think they will make up for them later or seek another alternative even though it may not be permissible given that you can only not fast if you're seriously ill or travelling (well technically they are on tour so....) but it's their intention which counts.

You arent required to fast when you are travelling.

i expect there to be a half hour news item on this on every cable channel

I'm not claiming to be a religious expert but I thought that was only for essential travel?

Anyway back on topic I think fasting will severely impact the team. Especially since the fasts here are like 19 hours long

Tbh, Islamically spekaing they can't miss these fasts but in reality, it is between them and their Lord, what does it matter to us?

Let's concentrate on our own fasts firsts.

U right regarding their matter but it is right that travellers are exempt as Quran says:

فمن کان منکم مریضا او علی سفر فعدۃ من ایام اخر
"If you're I'll or a traveller then make up fasts later"

If your job is such that you can't fast then you can skip the fast and make it up later on.

Yes but the travel does not mean you go to a place, earn lots of money, live in nice hotels for 2 weeks or however long. It means essential travel where you can not stay in one place too long etc

Anyway, like I said, none of our problem.

Not sure, maybe the really religious people will like Sarfraz, Hafeez but I think it is not very healthy for them to fast in the heat in long hours because they could definitely faint so most likely will not fast

The temperature is not that much and in June is usually around 18-20 Degree Celsius.

its open to interpretation and its an opinion that lots of sportsmen respect.

What does the OP thinks, do pilots fast? Do you want them to crash an entire airplane?

Their job is such that they can't.

Same is for pro athletes. They cannot, so they won't. It's none of our business. Leave them alone.

OP asked a genuine question....

Lets keep ours and the duas going. Its our only hope with opening batsmen like ours

Don't think it is possible to fast when you are playing all day long. They may very well do so on days Pak is not playing. Those who don't keep a few fasts are not entitled to celebrate Eid.

It's obvious they won't be fasting on match days since they have a valid excuse.
