Ahh, so this has been emotional day for me I found out this morning when I woke up still in my bed that ABD retired from intl cricket. At first I thought it was fake news but no. Since then my whole day has been kind of a down. But instead of think about the downs and how international cricket has lost a genius today, lets talk about our favorite innings of AB De Villiers. (in test, odi and t20 cricket)I will choose one from each Tests, ODI's and T20I's

69* (28) vs England 2014 World T20 - It was a must win game for SA in the World T20 and they were struggling at around 120/6 after 16 overs. But AB then cut loose in order to launch SA to almost 200. Watched this one live and it was such a treat.

106* (186) vs Australia 2008 1st Test Perth - This is probably AB De Villiers greatest innings of all time and probably my all time favorite. Australia were on top when AB came out to bat 179-3, losing the quick wickets of set batsman Amla, and Smith. At 179-3 South Africa had to reconsolidate chasing 414. SA had to climb a mountain and others did well however AB saw his team through the finish line and without his hundred who knows what could've happened! Easily the best AB innings for me in regards of context.

162* (66) vs WI 2015 World Cup - It had not even been 2 months since AB delivered WI an epic phainty. I watched this one live as well, and I was like there's no way he can play like the way he did a few weeks ago. However it's ABD we're talking about an he just comes and annihilated the WI bowlers once again scoring the quickest 150 of all time. This was just a great innings just pure pleasure to watch it live, and it happened in a WC!

So what's your favorite AB De Villiers innings of all time?

That windies bowling was trash, Guptill got about 240 against them. I'd go for the inns against Pak in UAE to draw the series

Pakistan vs South Africa in the group stages of the 2015 WC. I don't care that he couldn't drag his team across the line, but the sheer determination and drive with which he played that innings is something I will never forget. Truly a lone-ranger.

Yeah but that thing is how many batsman are their in world cricket who have two innings of 140+ at a SR of 200+

AB's innings

149 (44) SR - 339 Min - 59
162* (66) SR - 246 Min - 103

Like how many batsman in world cricket have scored of 150+ or even near 150 before facing 100 deliveries! Those two innings were insane not only with the way he just came out and started middling the ball left and right out the ground, but also the shots he played were absolutely unreal. Plus he almost scored 150 before even being at the crease for an hour in that first innings, that just unheard of, I don't care what bowling attack it is. I mean if it was that easy to score against the Windies bowling everyone would be scoring 150's of 50/60 balls.

Martin Guptill's innings

237 (163) SR - 145 Min - 223

As for Guptill's inning you can see it is not comparable to AB's innings this is a more realistic innings one we have seen a few times. A double hundred is still rare yes, but those two innings AB played are unreal. Nobody in world cricket and I mean nobody can ever replicate those innings. They are unique. Plus with Guptill he got to his hundred off 111 balls. He later accelerated so his innings can not be compared to AB's at all. Scoring a 150 in 64 balls is unreal nobody well ever do that in the near future trust me, the second fastest 150 is off 83 balls I'm pretty sure. I would say his 149 (44) is probably even better than his 162 but just because the 162 happened in the world cup I put it up there.

Tests:- 126*(146) vs Australia 2018

odis:- 136*(106) vs Australia 2014

T20s:- Here I would pick one of his IPL inning- the one in which he smashed Steyn for 24 runs in an over in a match vs SRH and chased down a huge total. That was one of the finest display of batting you would get to see.

The inning against WI was unreal though. The kind of shots he played was breathtaking and admirable as well.

There waa nothing he couldn't do. Kept gloves when mattered and also did the 5th bowling role during the WC 2015.

An underrated test player as well.

For me the one in 2015 WC against Pakistan. All wickets falling at the other end were looking good for nothing as long as AB was batting. Seemed like he would easily win the game but finally we won after getting him out
