Known for his excellent analytical and forthright views on cricket, Fazeer Mohammed is a Trinidadian commentator and journalist who has been covering West Indies cricket since 1987. His recent commentary on the Pakistan versus West Indies series played in the UAE has also won him kudos and given him cult status amongst a large fan following on PakPassion and beyond.

It therefore gives us immense pleasure to announce that Fazeer will be writing exclusive blogs for PakPassion on a variety of topics about the game he loves and is passionate about.

A very warm welcome to Fazeer from all at PakPassion.

The blogs will be available on http://www.pakpassion.net/literature/pp-blogs/fazeer-s-focus.html

Fantastic!

I still miss the great Tony Cozier, but I really enjoyed the knowledge and style of Fazeer Mohammed on the recent tour.

Can't wait to read these blogs. Very knowledgeable about cricket and loved his knowledge on Pakistan cricket.

It has been a pleasure listening to him all over the series. Both him and Ian Bishop who is just superb and spot on over fast bowling analysis.

Ian Bishop is the great cricketing tragedy of my lifetime.

Believe me, apart from Malcolm Marshall he was the greatest of the West Indies fast bowlers. Tall like Ambrose or Garner or Walsh but faster than any of them and able to swing the ball away to the slips.

But he got stress fractures in his back twice and remodelled his action and lost his consistency.

He ended up with 161 Test wickets at 24.27. But he was a contemporary of Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram and until he fractured his spine he was better than both of them.

Fantastic news.

I've followed Fazeer's work for number of years as like many cricket fans, West Indies is my second team and wish for their resurgence, and have found his analysis on West Indian cricket insightful and thoughtful.

Like the great Tony Cozier, and unlike many modern commentators, he is a proper cricket journalist and not yet another ex-player turned commentator.

Totally agree which is why we are looking forward to read his views.

,

Faz is a great guy and a great commentator. I met him once, and was in awe of his mighty beard.

What sets him apart is his knowledge of stats well before his formative years; he seems to have an intimate knowledge of games and players as far back as the 1920s.

He's also one of the few WI commies to publicly chastise the WICB. Most are afraid to challenge their poor management style.

Indeed, I see the WICB have recently given Darren Bravo a low paying C contract, which Bravo rejected, which looks like it will push him off the test team. Several of the young WI players, in contrast, have been awarded A contracts.

Excellent news!!! looking forward to his views. imo he and ian bishop were the best commentators of the last test series.

He is an excellent commentator and brilliant analyst. His knowledge of cricket and not just West Indian cricket is superb.

His commentary was that good, at times he made some of the other commentators look rather foolish during the Pakistan versus West Indies series.

Looking forward to reading his views.

Excellent.

Fazeer has amazing knowledge of the game and his commentary is superb.

The first blog entry is on its way folks and it's a cracker ....

He's on a different level to most of the other commentators in this series.
