What's new

Federal Areas [254/5] defeat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa [252] by 5 wickets to win Pakistan One-Day Cup 2018

Fahim bats at 8 so he can't replace him but he can easily replace Malik and should bat at 6.

malik will not be dropped till the wc2019 he is the only senior player in the team. They will never drop him.

If pakistan has these bowlers
Amir
Hassan
Shinwari
Shadab
Talat

And also
Malik
Fakhar

Fahim will be competing with shinwari for 3rd seamer's spot.
And shinwari wins it 7 out of 10.

Both of Fahim and asif can only be played together if babar opens the inings.
If rhey do this then pak will have a supeeb batting line up and also a superb bowling line up.

Or we can get rid of Malik. Doesn't matter if he's senior he's just not good enough.

KPK win easily,
Manzoor and Shan Masood making 298 partnership speaks about the nature of the loser opposition.

Again pathetic captaincy and field placings. Had given up early and spread the field around to give no confidence to the bowlers although this pitch was better than before.

Khurram Manzoor made 190*, but for me the players of the match were Zia ul Haq (4-60) and Asif Ali (121 off 90 balls). Zia literally destroyed the top ordero f Punjab with his in swinging deliveries and varying length, at 7 overs he conceded 24 runs and took 3 wickets. He hastened the way for sure victory for KPK. If it was not for Asif Ali blitz Zia would've ended with better econ. figures. He did manage to get Asif Ali out.
Asif Ali came in when Punjab was 71 for 4 and then lost their loser captain Shoaib Malik on 86. Went onto rebuild and brought his team to respectable total, where Punjab was not looking to get past 150 even on this wicket.

Federal has sunk pretty bad, they are 227-8 in 48 overs on this wicket where 340 is'nt even a par score. They have changed pitches and this wicket is spinning more but still its a 320+ wicket.

Akmal came in to openwith a totally demotivated and ignored trailblazer of 2010, Awais Zia. As usual Akmal went for a duck with Yamin swinging the bowl more than expected. Sad to see Awais playing in such manner. I'm sure he would be a different player in Karachi's Ramzan tournament. Selection committee and its biased decisions have something to do with players losing vigour and just going thru the motions.

Very poor quality of batting in this match noted. Abid Ali scored a century here but it was far from convincing display, got beaten for pace after scoring century too just shows lack of skills.

And beside all that Bilal Asif blatantly chucked his way to 2 wickets.

Stopped watching this tournament as it is full of ttfs.

Sindh is looking disinterested to even try for a chase. Very awful game today no one seems to care enough to do well. It seems they feel nothing would come out of it even if they play well.

Thanks to inzamam for inducing such confidence in the domestic players, nobody thinks their good performances would earn them a place in the team. Even if they perform an Akmal, Malik and Shehzad will be selected.

Sadaf Hussain's action looks similar to Philander's. This guy is only made for First class/Test cricket.

Sadaf has been carted away so far in this tournament. Won't do his chanced any good. Poor guy.

3/67 in the first game hardly looked like being carted. He was dropped twice in the last match, and is currently joint third in the wicket taking tables.

Meanwhile, he has a better List A record than any other bowler in domestics, and has been the leading wicket taker in the premier domestic ODI tournament for three years, including 2017.

Explain.

Not much pace. Kept bowling length instead of trying out variations or bowling a yorker. Seemed like someone who would do well in tests bowling that length especially when there is some seam movement available.

Anyway it's unfair to judge him after one game. So let's see what he does in the rest of the tournament,

So its just take 15 balls to change the course of a match for anwar ali. In PSL he flipped the whole match in just 6 balls. Where as golden joker akmal failed again on an easy pitch.

Was a mix of good strokes and a quite a few edges.

Finally a better game than yesterday where both teams fought well.

This is definitely the best innings by Anwar Ali as well as the fastest 50 recorded for List A.

Khushdil Shah/Rameez Raja Jr were taking singles and 2s, around the 40 over mark. And the run rate had jumped to 12.3, they need 112 off 60. Were not able to play any scoring shot. I'd left the game then when I came back they required 75 off 35 balls and Rameez Raja got out the next. It was pretty much all over for Balochistan. They had accelerated but made only 37 off last 4 overs.

Then Anwar Ali came and hit Sadaf for 2 sixes. Off just 11 balls he had made 37. Was looking unstoppable at one point. Zia extracted few edges nevertheless Anwar still hit 12 off 3. Was surprising to see no use of the slower bowl against Anwar. Bowling medium pace length to Anwar is suicidal.

Till 45th over KPK was unofficially the winner of this match. By mid-47 over BAlochistan needed just 16 off 16 balls. Anwar had finished the match in 15 freakin' deliveries.

Akmal drops the eaisest catch ever and then wonder why we don't select him and the commentators are are rubbing salt into the wound.

Rofl Punjabs 2 selfish players, Shoaib Malik and Rizwan on the crease. Expecting the run flow to remain slow. Punjab is going in just over 6 per over. Very much behind the standard run rate on this pitch.

Abdullah719 did you watch Asif? How was his innings?

PAK's best bet for T20 & ODI opener is Kamran Akmal, may not be a popular comments but he is playing exceptionally well. Compared to any other player, this guy has the ability to clear rope effortlessly on either feet and either side - and he has off side shots.

Mickey also recognizes that, hence he is dodging political bullets - where Kamran is going to field? As if his current keeper is Allen Knott!!!!!!

In the past he was more of a dasher scoring 30 40 then getting out recently he's been scoring hundreds the ability to score hundreds has come after the age of 35.
International cricket is different but on flat wickets he's got the ability it depends how fit he is how long he can play.

Why not Fakhar and Babar to fix the openers issue for the next few years at least?

Kamran is more destructive and now he is converting starts - if Kmran can stay for 35 overs, it's almost certainly a match winning stay.

Babar isn't a destructive player, but he is very good to anchor the innings at more than decent rate. FZ doesn't have the range of shots Kamran has, therefore when he is not fed hittable balls, he starts swinging blindly, often looks ugly. Besides, even at his best form, Fakhar's majority big hits are against spinners despite being opener - Kamran hits fast bowling better than most PAK batsmen.

Are you sure he could do it against the top teams? His prior record doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Kamran in his life time has never been such a serial scorer at domestics, which indicates something must have changed. Guy's career average is 37 in FC and 32 in List A - but for last 3 years or so, he is batting in FC at probably 60/60 stats on atrocious wickets and in List A even impressive 60+/100+ sort of stats. On top of that, he is the MVP of PSL this year - this can't be fluke. Some players mature at older age, Kamran is like one of them; besides he is not going to do MoHa/Shehzad job, that's 29 of 48 consuming entire power play. At this form, a good shout for 2019 WC for sure.

Fakhar Zaman despite not having the 'range of shots' has already done more in his short career than Kamran did in the hundreds of miserable matches he played for Pakistan. I don't know whether your post is an attempt at trolling because almost every point you made was ridiculous. If Anwar Ali stayed at the crease for 35 overs, he would certainly get a higher score than most of our batsman... If Hasan Ali opened the innings and carried his bat, I think he would get at least 250 runs etc.

I guess. But like you said a tournament where Anwar Ali can come in and blast an 18 ball 50 to chase 370 with one over to spare shouldn’t be taken seriously.

I don’t think Kamran has much chance of getting into the side though anyway.

Anwar isn't scoring thousand runs over a season, Anwar also hit 26 in last over of PSL - I am talking about a continuous run of 3 years, not once in a blue moon short burst.

In the last 4 years in FC cricket Kamran is averaging 56 this shows his improved form because there was nothing like this in the 2000s he was more of a 30 something averaging player during this time when he was consistently picked for Pakistan.

Have stopped looking at this tournament, aik sai barh k aik lalloo is scoring runs for fun.

Dont need to change the settled odi side now, just bring Harry and Talat and go with the same side.

It's a career ending tournament for a few bowlers Irfan the leg spinner will struggle to get picked now there's been little impact so far.

Very unfair to the bowlers. But on the other side you can see who the real deal are.

Like Dennis Lillee once said: " The Faisalabad pitch is a bowlers' graveyard."

Why wasn't fawad picked in the second game? Sindh was in shambles then and he would have provided a much needed anchor

After the lift of the ban, Hafeez has introduced himself to bowl the 2nd over of the match. Gauhar Ali [the flamboyant keeper/batsman from National T20 Cup] opening for Sindh.
