Does anyone have any information on the progress of city teams etc in the structure PCB announced at the beginning of their restructuring process? What is the state of domestic cricket, feeder leagues, bringing players into the six main cricket association 1st and 2nd XI teams?

I am surprised no one has any info on this over here. Surely this is of critical importance to the future of Pakistani cricket and pakpassion should have a close eye on this as the premier website for Pak cricket.

Only a few posters here have played club crixket and have any idea what happens in clubc scenes.

Club crixket is the only feeder system here. You join club cricket at a young age and than through that you give trials for u16 and u19. You get selected either basee on trial or your reputation in the region

Now for the last few years, in rawalpindi there has been no club competation. Infact, even if pcb gives money for club competation it probably gets eaten away by officials.

Even that muddasar guy has said no pcb club competation took place during last two years.

Now a new problem has arrrised.this years u19 is going to be the worst team ever.
In the past they had open trials, now open trials wont take place and only short listed players will get u19 trial.

Now the criteria set was if you played u16 or U19 in past you can come for trials. Open trials wont happen, meaning no new cricketer can appear in trial. Alot of kids will miss out.
There arnt any u19 comptetation. All club matches are friendly matches with no one keep track og runs made. Thus the performance of u19 players isnt quantified.

Crazy, so there are no open trials because of COVID or administration policy?

Yes, I see what you mean. Club cricket below the CA’s. Actually what I am wondering about are the ‘city associations’ Wasim Khan promised when he launched this new domestic structure:

What is the status of these city associations? Are they still just operating as before? Has any work been done on these associations?

That is really bad. Why isn’t this stuff highlighted more by the press? Are you sure this is the case? How can there be no club competition? Do the clubs play friendlies or do they not exist or what?

What about this inter city championship? Is it also going on as normal? I guess that is the direct level before first class cricket.

No city/district cricket for last two years. Proper city cricket should be launched around january 2021(if Covid suitation is under control) , U13, U16, U19 and senior team. Those performers should trial for six teams for 2021-22 season.

Otherwise Pakistan cricket will suffer because of Mani and Wasim Khan

How is this possible? Why is there no city cricket?? Is it because it used to be the region’s responsibility and was supposed to be taken over by the CA’s, which have only just been constituted?

I expect this to change once the new structure is in place.

Wasim Khan the CEO is quite experienced in drumming up grassroots cricket and was involved in a major grassroots project in England so I am expecting him to ensure the feeder leagues are functioning properly.

This new structure is one of Imran Khan’s pet projects and as an ex-cricketer himself, I cannot see him letting the project fail.

Once this structure is in place and the corruption in official positions is weeded our, I expect there will be a lot of positives that will come to fruition.

That being said, the politico-Economic situation in Pakistan is going to be a hindrance in terms of funding the project and the project reaching full potential for several years.

Missing two years of city cricket is no joke. How many of those potential cricketers will walk away from the game in the meantime, and on what basis are they picking the 6 first class sides?
