Iran is hosting Women Chess World Championship in Tehran and enforcing players to wear Hijab/Scarf.

Many top rated players boycotted this tournament but FIDE shamelessly granted this tournament to backward Islamic state of Iran.

I really can't stand men who force their wives to wear hijabs. She is your wife not your slave or property. She has every right to make her own decisions. I need to make sure that my little sister doesn't end up getting married to some backward and old fashioned oppressive man.

There is nothing Un-Islamic about not wearing hijab. Forcing such things will only result in ladies resisting and eventually leaving Islam.

She can of course make her own decisions. My parents are quite open minded and so am I and my sister. I just hope that she doesn't fall for some backward man who believes that a wife has to do everything the husband tells her to.

of course freedom of choice is a human right. Countries like Irans approach is extra idiotic when they try to make non Muslims wear the Hijab what purpose does that serve but to instill subservience from the population.

It just makes me laugh whats the point of enforcing a hijab? I am sure the players are intelligent enough to not wear clothes that can offend the locals. But enforcing a hijab on them is lol worthy. It should be left to their judgement.
