I suppose money was the over riding factor for granting it to Iran.
Why do these opressive regimes opt to hold these event? It serves them notoriety and nothing else.
When will these Muslim countries start living in the 21st century? This is the day and age of secularism and freedom of choice. You can't force anyone to wear something they don't want to in this day and age. Why country like Iran even allowed to host a sporting event like this?
"Argument"/excuse presented that it would provide an opportunity to Iranian women and such opportunities would empower them.
It's been all downhill since Khomeini.
Yeah empower the women by forcing them to wear a hijab. Great logic![]()
I really can't stand men who force their wives to wear hijabs. She is your wife not your slave or property. She has every right to make her own decisions. I need to make sure that my little sister doesn't end up getting married to some backward and old fashioned oppressive man.
I agree with your premise BUT,
If she has every right to make her own decisions, why can't she marry an oldfashioned man without your permission?
