Interesting post retirement career can include financial success or just an interesting career path. Some interesting examples coming to my mind

1. Imran Khan is an obvious example
2. Curtly Ambrose pursued a career in music as a guitarist in a reggae band after retirement
3. Joginder Sharma of India became a police officer
4. Chris Harris of NZ became a medical orthopedic salesman
5. Andrew Flintoff became a boxer and then a real estate developer

Can any of you think of other interesting examples?

Majority of mediocre Pakistani cricketers became "legends" after retirement.

Imran was milking money by just giving interviews. His one interview or invitation to tv channel was going over a pakistani carore.

Guess who is he with MSD .
What am interesting life he’s lead. Not only breaking into the national team of a country’s most competitive sport out of millions and millions, but playing a pivotal role in them lifting a trophy, and then transitioning away from the spotlight into serving his community as an officer.

Quite a unique life lol.

Kinda sad that someone who played a WC final (Randiv) is driving a bus for a living.

Not that there's any shame in that job, but it just tells you how meagre the cricket economy is.

Hate on league cricket as much as you want, it's the only way to sustain the sport.

Shane Bond was a traffic police officer before he became a cricketer.

Few not so popular srilanka cricketer's came to aus and working in menial jobs.As u said, its quite hard to look at reality of cricketer's life.Even John Wright ex kiwi cricketer and indian coach, worked in a tools shop as a salesman after his retirement.its like Earn big or pay for ur interest in the beloved game

BD ex-cricketer Muhammad Ashraful opened a restaurant business in Dhaka. It is called "Sichuan Garden".

Someone should show these career options chosen by ex-cricketers to those who pontificate nonstop that test cricket is supreme and hate franchise cricket. IPL and franchise cricket has made cricket a viable long term career option for many average cricketers, not just exceptional cricketers.

Cricket is very different in India-Pak-Bangla compared to rest of the world.

In our part of the world anyone who reaches national level and has a reasonable career length there (say 50-70 games) invariably becomes a celebrity. Thus post cricket career path is a lot about parlaying that celebrity nature into commerce. Even cricket related jobs like analyst/commentator/coaching/mentoring are a function of broadcasters/franchises trying to encash the celeb nature of player.

In places like Aus/NZ/Eng/SA there is no real celeb culture for the average national cricketer unlike footballers or rugby players. So if they want to pursue analysis/coaching careers they have to upskill, qualify, interview and earn such jobs.

Shoaib and Lee's post cricket careers are a good contrast study in how our cultures are different. Both were very good (not great) cricketers with bit colorful personalities and without any significant education qualifications. Shoaib is able to dial that persona up to 11 and create social media saleable content and find a space in low quality tabloid level broadcasts as a cricket influencer of sorts.

Lee tried commentary but he was not very good and the broadcasters swiftly moved on. He has tried coaching/consultancy but he doesn't have the qualifications or technical background to make it there ahead of non international but better qualified personnel. He dabbles in music production and entertainment industry but is a small name there also.

Only in pakistan are medicore cricketers supported as legends after retirements

Just checked that Randiv played two seasons for CSK in IPL. So how he has no significant bank balance and has to drive a Bus ?

Maybe these Cricketers want to acquire PR in first World countries so pick up the Jobs that helps them qualify to best of their Skills.

He was picked up at a pretty low salary of 40 lac INR.
So he probably earned just around 50-60k USD pre tax per year from IPL. Not really life changing amount
