Former cricket and chief selector of the national cricket team Mohammad Ilyas breathed his last after a prolonged battle with cancer at a private hospital in Lahore on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The timings of his Namaz-e-Janaza will be announced later.

It is necessary to mention here that a few days before, former cricketer Mohammad Ilyas sought the Pakistan Cricket Board's help and assistance for the treatment of his cancer disease.

Mohammad Ilyas was diagnosed with cancer and was under treatment in a private hospital in Lahore.

Mohammad Ilyas also appealed to his friends and well-wishers to remember him in their prayers for his early recovery.

In 2011, Muhammad Ilyas was handed over the responsibilities of chief selector by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
