Akthar Sarfraz - Rest In Peace

Sad to share the news the death of a Pakistani ex-cricketer Akthar Sarfraz. He played few ODIs for Pakistan in late 90s. He was left handed middle order batsman and right arm off-spinner.

May God bless his soul and give the strength to his family to bear this loss:

I don't remember seeing him, so thought this was a new episode in sarfraz shoaib saga. That being said condolences to his family and supporters

His funeral will be offered in his home town dir today,he played 4 odis for pakistan.
RIP Akhtar Sarfaraz! The cricketer will be laid to rest in his native village of Tormang in Lower Dir.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is shocked to hear the sad news of Akhtar’s passing. It is very difficult to accept and comprehend if you lose someone from the cricket fraternity, particularly as young and lively as Akhtar who was admired, respected and loved by everyone,” PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani stated in a press release.

“It’s tragic that death cut short his life at such a young age, but he will live in our memories for a very long period. On behalf of the PCB, I want to extend my deepest condolences to Akhtar’s family and assure them that in these difficult times, we stand firmly with them.”

He served PCB in different capacities, including as regional coach as well as selector for the Pakistan Women team.

Innalillahi Wa Innalayi Rajeeoon!

He was so young. I remember him play in Sharjah's first day-night games in 1998. Was a good hitter of the ball and a middle order batsman. Wasn't able to make it as it coincided with the rise of Yousuf Youhana (Muhammad Yousuf).

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

Only 43 years old.

Really sorry to hear that. I remember that Sharjah series where he made his debut. It was one of those series where neither India nor Pak made finals at the desert. RIP. Very young age. Surprised that colon cancer took his life quickly. It has one of the better chances of survival. Condolences to his family

According to Tanvir Ahmed, he was a very attacking batsman. Never got a chance to cement his spot in the team. Condolences to the family.

Lahore, 10 June 2019:

The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed its shock and grief at the news of former international Akhtar Sarfaraz’s passing. The 43-year-old left-handed batsman played four ODIs between 1997 and 1998, while in a 13-year first-class career from 1994 to 2007, he featured in 118 matches in which he scored 5,720 runs.

Akhtar Sarfaraz also served PCB in different capacities, as regional coach in the past and selector for Pakistan Women team between 2018 and 2019.

I remember him as a left handed batsmen , looked like a good striker of the ball. Especially through on side was good.

inna lillahe wa inna ilayhee rajioon.

Inna lillahe wa inna ilayhee rajioon

Really sorry to know this
He played for Pakistan against England Akai-Singer Champions Trophy in 1997. He and leg spinner Manzoor Akhtar played in that tournament showing promise unfortunately never saw both of them playing for Pakistan again.

Still remember his hit for six at mid-wicket.

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ‎

Really liked him in his debut series in Sharjah alomg side Manzoor Akhter. Both looked good prospects but were never given a chance again..

May his soul rest in peace.. Ameen.

Had never heard of him. RIP. Very sad to die at such a young age.

Remember him long with Manzoor Akhtar in Sharjah series. Not sure why they weren't given consistent opportunities later, could have been hafeez of that era.
