What are the chances that India could raid the fortress and end a 26 year unbeaten run?

People think otherwise but I think we will do ok. Atleast we can take 20 wickets there. I hope it is a lush green pitch as well.

History aside, all I know is that if we don't somehow draw/win this 2nd test it's going to proceed to be another rout.

It's the quickest surface in Australia as well.

It will be tough for any subcontinent team as they are simply not used to the pace and bounce.

Bowling friendly conditions always play into India's hands. If there is one place where India can beat Australia it is the Gabba. Indian bowlers need more help than the Aussies.

We know the odds aren't there.

No point playing defensive cricket. 99% Aussies are going to go 0-2.

So get 5 bowlers and go full attack.

There is no other option.

There is no draw in Gabba these days I was told and Aussies always win there.

So counter attack and see if they crumble somewhere.

That's our only hope.

So a four man attack with Shami the lead bowler it is then.

Not really.

Plus it was right in the middle of the flat period of WACA wickets before they dug up all the wickets and brought in new clay.

Yet the Aussie batsmen got out to Indian bowlers on that "flat" track and the match was over in 4 days.

I've gone to every WACA test since the mid 90s and I go to as many WA games there as I can.

The WACA wickets from around 2005-2009 were a disgrace.

India played well but it was still a horrible period for cricket at the WACA

It was supposed to be so fast that Australia played with an extra fast bowler. I thought it played pretty fast for the first couple of days. India just played better cricket, like they did in Sydney for the most part.

It was supposed to be but it wasn't.

I watched the match live. I know my WACA wickets.

And yeah India played much better than we did.

I hope we win the toss and bat first irrespective of the conditions but dhawan has to go. Our bowlers are better when the team has runs on the board and the wicket should offer a bit more assistance so hopefully we will do well there.

india were very close to chase this total 363 if little bit of luck hav faoured den india wud hav chased 400 in new zealand ,came very close wid luck not going against them........indian batsman are making 200 in india for fun and in subcontinent any country if they play they will make it there also very sure.india taking batting to the newer level and just need sum luck sum miracles are going to happen soon.and regarding gabba test i wud want india to bat first in lush green pitch.

This was a tough game for aus after what happened previous weeks.
Should be more relaxed after this win.

Expect them to SMASH the parosees.

Australia have there tails up now, the record should remain safe.

Pitch could be pretty green, it's been raining a lot up there.

But always chance of a rain affected draw in Brisbane.

No it wasn't fast. The riverbed they used to create that glassy surface with trampoline bounce that the West Indian quicks loved in the 70s and 80s ran out of the clay they used for the wicket and it took them five years to find a substitute. Sheffield Shield teams even went with dual spin attacks during that period. India played better cricket but it was not a wicket with a lot of bounce.

India, first team since 1931 to hit 300+ on day 1.

Lets win this test. :D

Mitch is not in his groove. I mean, he is normal now. India's best chance to win a match here.

India have a very good chance to win this match after today.

Well, it's Indian bowling. Indian can score 500+ and still you can't bank on Indians to get 20 wickets. They will have a decent chance if they can score big here. Last 2 days will be tough to bat but Aus can also put a big score in first inning.

India had a chance to force Australia into really defending that record, but 1.5 poor sessions of cricket means they are looking to save a game they should have been looking to win.

First we slip from 300-4 to 400 a.o

Then we let Aus score 500 from 240-6

We don't deserve to win this test. To win a test, you take charge when the game is in balance, not let away the advantage to the opposition.

Test matches have the quality of swinging from one side to the other (although under Dhoni, these swings are rare when India plays away). If India can make 400+ or even 350, they would make up for today's lapses.

For that you need a top order of batsmen and we got a Tailunt sitting there and Hackone- admittedly trying to score and a Che whos been off the boil for a while now.

Rahane is due his customary 2nd innings bad decision (damn you BCCI) and Phoni doesnt care about the format

So who is going to score the runs now?

A lot will depend on first session tomorrow. I still bank Aus to not lose here.

Let's see if Aus justifies the belief I had in them after the day 2 when they were behind by some margin. It looks like they will keep the record of Gaba intact unless Aus bat horribly in the last inning. They have done enough to not lose this game.

Draw seems to be the least likely result now. How will the game end in a draw? Only if India bat out another four sessions and bat Australia out of the game, which looks very unlikely. If India survives only two or three more sessions, draw will not result and they will give the Aussies something to chase at.

India's only chance of winning here would be get 350+ and bowl out the Aussies. If India make less than 350, they need to pull off a miracle to win.

350 including the Aussie lead or 350 for Aussies to chase

if India give Aussies 350 to chase-no ways we losing the game!

Any target of over 250 will be tricky, so tomorrow if we get bowled out in 3 or less sessions it would leave them a target of only 200 odd which would be easy after seeing even johno n starc get 50's for AUS

350 for India.

If India managed to get a lead of 350, then they would have scored 450. With that many runs on the board (assuming that 450 is possible, for a moment!), there won't be enough time for India to force a result.

We have to bat bloody well to achieve anything other than another loss.

Pakistan should have won in 1999 if not for some atrocious umpiring. Funny how umpires come to rescue every time Aussies are about to lose a home test.

Pakistan is the one who ended Australia's World Cup winning streak, now the chance to end the Gabba streak

The pink ball and lights may turn game into a lottery so there is a small chance of pulling off an upset here.

Apparently they are getting a swimming pool view for the match, Convict will that be functional for a D/N match? What if the bowl goes into the pool?

This will be the cricketing equivalent of the fall of Constantinople. I propose we rename the ground "Misbah ki Shan" after Amir, Riaz and Shah scythe through the Aussies.

Don't worry. Its a massive stadium

Good to see temporary captain finally winning some test matches :kohli

Australia Gabba fortress :31 matches undefeated since defeat against westindies in 1988

Australia have not lost a Test at the venue since being rolled by the great West Indies team in 1988. They have gone 30 matches undefeated since then.Aus the home has claimed an incredible 23 wins and seven draws in that time.
India have an 20-year undefeated streak running at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, having last lost there in 1999, to Pakistan. But they have played just eight Tests at the venue in the two decades since, winning five, most recently against England in December 2016.
Australia's streak in Brisbane is fast closing the gap on the longest single-venue domination in Test history.

That record belongs to Pakistan and the incredible 34 matches they went undefeated at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi between 1955 and 2000.

Karachi hosted its first Test match in February 1955, a draw against India, and Pakistan did not lose there until Nasser Hussain's England triumphed in the fifth-day dusk 45 years later.

Longest Test undefeated streaks by venue

National Cricket Stadium, Karachi Pakistan: 34 matches 1955-2000

The Gabba, Brisbane Australia: 31 matches 1988-2019*

Kensington Oval, Bridgetown West Indies: 27 matches 1948-1993

Old Trafford, Manchester England: 25 matches 1905-1954

Sabina Park, Kingston West Indies: 19 matches 1958-1989

The Oval, London England: 18 matches 1884-1929

Lord's, London Australia: 18 matches 1938-2005

Basin Reserve, Wellington New Zealand: 18 matches 1969-1993

Queens Park Oval, Port of Spain West Indies: 17 matches 1978-1998

Edgbaston, Birmingham England 16 matches, 1902-1974

Outstanding record .Seems like they will beat pakistan national stadium record very soon just 4 win away from it

I would love to see India play Australia next year at the Gabba.... with our pace attack it will be a cracker of a game.

india will end it.
india ended their 16 game unbeaten run.

india ended their dominance in Perth again 8 years later.
