"From no hard-ball cricket to the PSL and BBL in 2 years, it's been incredible" : Dilbar Hussain

He needs to lengthen his run up by a good few paces. He has a great repeatable action.
A longer run up will add a couple of yards to his pace and it will be smooth and effortless.

He could definitely have been a world class potential had he been identified 10 years ago.
An extremely smooth and natural bowler.

If you can give the street cricketer Rauf international exposure then this guy also deserves the same favor. He is cut from the same cloth.

Both street cricketers returned with better figures than your much fancied ahsaan faraamosh buzurg.

On a serious note, Dilbar has more raw ability than rauf.
It is unfortunate that both of them didn't come through the system and have been discovered when they are in their late 20's.
Dilbar especially could have been a fantastic long format bowler.

Street cricketer Dilbar Hussain has 14 wickets in 33 overs, his side were runners up in the PSL

Your priceless cricketer Pat Cummins took 13 wickets after playing all games for KKR, he cost $2m and his side didn’t make the play off.

To be very honest, Dilber deserves a chance. Dilbar is a much better bowler as compared to Haris Rauf.

Dilbar won’t take more than 4 wickets against IPL batting units.

If PSL can find the money to afford Cummins during his prime, he will easily take 20+ against the joke batting units of PSL.

Neither of the street cricket bowlers can match/surpass Amir in international cricket.

Stop bringing IPL in every thread

This thread is about Dilbar alone.

Yup, the same Amir who gets smashed by tailenders frequently nowadays.
Keep promoting a washed up and uncommitted cricketer just to serve your quest for having an alternate opinion.

Should be the back up in T20s. Hopefully plays more FC cricket this year though, I think he was dropped from his side after his debut game, in which he actually bowled relatively well.

I think Dilbar is better than Rauf.

The good thing about Dilbar is that he is getting better every game, which is great to see.

Since he picked up cricket only two years ago, there is a good chance that he will become a solid option for Pakistan in coming years if he continues to work hard and take nothing for granted.

Just not sure about his age as he looks older than 28.

He is very very talented. It's just amazing with his short run up he can bowl 149ks and he uses his brain very well.He has many variations as well.A perfect T20 bowler for now but can be a very good 50 overs bowler. It's just amazing he was a farmer and playing tape ball cricket not long ago and people say there is no talent in Pakistan that's just **.I hope he has a successful career.

Dilbar , who is currently in Australia, is now undergoing a 14-day quarantine period after receiving a positive result for his COVID-19 test, according to Aaqib Javed.

What's he doing in Australia? Is he here for the Big Bash or to play grade cricket?

Would have liked him to play more QAE matches but I guess this is how modern day cricket works so fair enough.

He may be good, but I think Pakistan should get away from these tape ball bowlers, or "street bowlers" as Mamoon put it. You need bowlers who've been trained to bowl with the cricket ball from the beginning. This is the 5 pacer battery Pakistan needs to develop for this decade:

1. Shaheen
2. Naseem
3. Hasnain
4. Akif Javed
5. Arshad Iqbal

Honestly I don't think he has a future in red ball cricket so I don't mind him playing T20 leagues around the world. He's almost 28, too late to develop a test bowler I think. T20Is are his best bet to playing for Pakistan.

True, probability was pretty low in red ball cricket. Showed good stamina and gave okish performance for SP in his debut FC match but, everything considered chances of him developing and graduating at this age in red ball cricket are pretty minimal.

Why is his bowling not good enough? Please explain.

For 4 overs he is a decent bowler at the domestic and league games, but only the best should play international cricket.

Dilbar's fielding is atrocious, probably due to lack of training at the junior level, he is a proper number 11with the bat too. If Pakistan needs to improve it has to select and play those who are developed and are international level. They can't pick random guys and develop them at the international level. If they continue this approach they will still remain at the middle/bottom of the ranking tables.

Just compare him with any pce bowlers from Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, most of the Pacers are athletes but Dilbar isn't one yet.

The stanadard for Pakistan cricket needs to rise otherwise the results at the international level will not improve.

The bowlers you have mentioned are great for the long run and hopefully bowlers for all three formats. Add Dahani in that list as well.

Whereat T20 cricket does not necessarily require fully seasoned fast bowlers, rather these street smart skills can and are very useful. The ability to make the batsman consistently guess what you may bowl next is an art, and Dilbar wants to be that kind of bowler. He is fully capable of running in and bowling 6 deliveries at 140+, but the guy would only bowl 1 or 2 of his 6 above that pace and focuses on his variations.

His biggest issue is the front foot no ball. This needs to be addressed urgently.

Dahani is a good talent but I want him to play a season of domestic and concentrate on the longer format as for dilbar I dont expect him to be in the squad anytime soon for limited overs unless he puts in big performances in bbl and psl

He’s put in more performances than the likes of Musa and Faheem who are being given a long rope like the Curran Brothers

Dont think he is replacing Haris in BBL

They took on Nicholas Pooran when Haris's absence was announced.

Musa is thier based upon personal liking as for fahim he should only play in tests in sena nothing more

He has signed a contract with PCB for domestic cricket, so doubt he is going to Aus just to play club cricket(which he has previously), he's more likely there for BBL although Stars or BBL haven't announced anything yet but teams are still signing players.

p.s. BBL will allow 3 foriegn players in playing XI this season(was only 2 previously)

As per the website of one of the Pakistani sports channel (Not sure about the credibility but they have close links with LQ):

"Lahore Qalandars fast bowler Dilbar Hussain has contracted the novel coronavirus and is currently in quarantine in Australia, franchise CEO Arif Rana has confirmed.

Hussain, as per Rana, had cleared his Covid-19 tests in Pakistan but the virus was still found in his system upon landing in Australia.

Rana said that the fast bowler has been in a biosecure bubble in Perth since last week, adding that "we are in contact with him and trying to lift his spirits."

Hussain is to represent Melbourne Stars in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL). He replaced teammate Haris Rauf whose scintillating bowling the Stars rode till the final in the last BBL.

Rauf's on national duty with Pakistan in New Zealand, and that had led to Melbourne signing up Dilbar.

Dilbar is not the only Pakistani player who had cleared his tests at home, only to be found infected abroad. Same had happened with six Pakistani players currently with the national team in New Zealand."

Wonder if his BBL10 injury has effected his chances in PSL 6?

He is getting hard-done here. Didn't play many domestic games as he was getting benched for TTFs and now this. Ain't no way he isn't the part of LQ's best bowling line-up. He has an unreal zip. Was the most impressive bowler last season. Daniyal shouldn't be near the team. Hope they can sort out the emerging spot.

Yeah strange to see him not get games. Unless he’s not fully fit this seems another wrong selection decision this PSL

Daniyal is probably playing as an emerging player. Not sure if Dilbar is still in the emerging players' category. If he is, then he should definitely play ahead of Daniyal.

Dilbar is not emerging anymore. That's why I said Lahore need to sort the emerging category.

If he wasn't fit what was he doing in UAE?

If he was fit, why didn't he play?

Well I've just had confirmation that he was fit, but the management didn't pick him.

He is good.He has got very good T20 skills. He should have been played in place of Ahmed daniyal. He has got pace he has got Yorker and slower ball.He is perfect for t20s.

Even if he is not in the emerging category. There is no way they couldn't have sat Haris for a game or two. Shame a fit Dilbar had to sit while Haris and Daniyal played.

Man this boy deserves a parchi. One of the most impressive bowlers last season but as soon he was out of emerging, LQ played Daniyal. Even when Daniyal was going for 40+ each game, they persisted with him. They could've easily dropped Daniyal and Faizan and brought in Dilbar + some emerging player.
He would've been in the national team now. Him and Hassan Ali would've been some duo.
Hope he keeps working hard.
Worst part of all this is you wouldn't see any journalist raising voice for him but they would obviously jump in if Asad Shafiq or some boy like Danish didn't play a couple of games.

I cant believe they sat Dilbar on the bench throughout the PSL and didn't give him a single game.

It was really painful watching the incredibly mediocre Daniyal play game after game and keep on getting smashed. Did LQ have no other emerging player? Terrible performance as usual by Aqib Javed.

They had 2 wastemen spots (Daniyal and Faizan)
They could've played Dilbar + Maaz Khan or Zaid Alam in emerging.
