After the United States and Canada, Australia has been one of the most preferred destinations for Indian students pursuing higher education abroad. However, it now appears that Australia may no longer allow Indian students easy entry into the country.

According to recent developments, the Australian government has reportedly classified India as a high risk country in terms of student visa processing. India has been moved from Level Two scrutiny to Level Three scrutiny by the Australian immigration department.

This change means that Australian authorities will adopt a more stringent and time consuming approach while processing student visa applications from India. Visa officers may now spend more time physically verifying documents and could even contact banks to cross check financial records.

As a result, the visa process is expected to become more complicated for Indian students planning to study in Australia.

Along with India, other Asian countries such as Nepal and Bangladesh have also been placed in the high risk category by Australian authorities. This development is likely to cause concern among students and education consultants alike.

It is understandable.

No matter the nationality most of these foreign students who allegedly go for post grad are scammers.

India is no exception no matter how much they pretend otherwise.

Those who abuse student visa system should be fined heavily and banned from the country for 20 years. :inti

Post tandoor operation due to mutual bans on studying many thousands of Indian students were also banned from Pakistan and around 10-15 Pakistani students were banned from India.

Indians are fast running out of options for external study opportunities.

Indians are running out of options in many different areas. Not just study.

They are getting regionally and globally isolated due to their antics. :inti

As usual clownery at best.Entire south asia is moved in to level 3( which requires more proof but effects zilch to a genuine student).

Ratings are changed for every 6 months depending on past applications.

China and India are in EV level 2 , 6 months back.so india should be back in to level 2 again.6 months back, China was demoted one level down from level 1 to level 2.

In the period from January to October 2025, there were 833,041 international students studying in Australia, according to the Education Department.

China remained the biggest source overall with 192,225 enrolments, followed by India (140,871), Nepal (68,456) and Vietnam (36,415).

It must be due to Bondi beach attacker Akram ... nowdays no country trusting on Muslims....... Australian government can't single out scrutiny for Muslim students.. therefore they put India on category 3

Don't think other religion students will face any problem in scrutiny, but if student is Muslim then blah blah.......

It is interesting to watch how quickly the mood has shifted from Islamophobic to ethno-naitonalist in the western countries. Hate figures like Tommy Robinson are now being called race traitors by influential vloggers like Steve Laws and Conor Tomlinson who claim his multicultural stance allows for people who don't really share English values to remain in this country. They want Indians out as well.

Aussies are of course just the ancestors of the criminal class of the British Isles so they are basically the chav element we see in this country.

No one goes to Australia or Canada on student visa to actually study, the main aim is to settle down or in cases of rich businessmen’s kids to enjoy life for few years and come back and run the home business.

I see 30-35 year old middle aged men enrolled in random courses while working 3-4 jobs and all they talk about is how to game the system for PR.

An age limit should be place on foreign students, 24 max. Most countries are now limiting immigrants from India now

Indians talk of India as some sort of great place but they alll want to leave .
