Just heard this breaking from Sky News that iconic 80s singer George Michael has died.

Sad, he was only 53. RIP.

Really sad news. One of my favourite singers. I was listening to him in the car with my brother just an hour ago...

Prince, Bowie and now George Michael. It's been a crap year for music.

My favourite Xmas song:

And my favourite George Michael song in general:

Wow, the angel of death was done with 2016; me and Junaids were only talking about Wham recently. RIP, Careless Whisper is one of my all time favourite singles.

He was only 53, was it a serious health issue? anything come out on what caused his death?

Andrew from Wham! Is my all-time hero, and the partner of Keren from Bananarama.

I love those songs too, and Freedom.

I think Yog's pneumonia a couple of years ago and the fact that a long-term lover died of AIDS is fairly conclusive. Plus he never learned to do drugs in moderation, which is a common feature of most of the victims of the Curse of 2016.

I was thinking of him, what with Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp returning to Birds of a Feather. Kemp is married to Shirlie Holliman from Wham!, so they are practically family. And I was just thinking how well Kemp has gone surviving his brain tumour.

My Groupie like traits of practically stalking 80's cricketers are well-known. If I knew how to stalk Andy or Keren or Martin or Shirlie I would forget all about Pakistan cricket!

Listening to my favourite christmas song right now, just feels poignant and sad knowing the man himself died a few hours ago on this of all days.

RIP, will never be forgotten due to his music

He was a great performer for sure with some excellent tracks. Never far from controversy either I respect him for having such a long and illustrious career. Was one of those who found worldly success but never appeared to be at peace with himself. Hope he finds that in the hereafter, "you gotta have faith" as he once sang.

Father Figure is my favourite George Michael song followed by Careless Whisper and Faith

RIP. Sad news, very talented songwriter but obviously was a very troubled soul. 'Waiting for that day' is probably my favourite track of his.

Also one of the few pop singers who called out Blair and New Labour's foreign policy in the run up to the Iraq war, I have no doubt he suffered for this courageous act:

Another legend from the 80s gone. MJ, Whitney, Prince and now George. I wasn't really a fan of George Michael but he was a very talented musician. May he rest in peace.

I wasn't a fan of his music but I recognise his song writing skill, artistic longevity and wonderful voice. Arguably the best ever British male pop vocalist, behind Freddy Mercury.

He has his demons. Like many artistic types he was vulnerable to depression after his mother and partner died. He had substance problems. Still I think he went before his time.

Especially rough on his father.

An absolute hero of mine. I'm the youngest in my family and my eldest brother loved him; and I followed suit.

RIP to a childhood hero :-(
