As the Big Show plays a Symondesque knock ala 2003 WC, question is who is better overall.

Maxwell: 33@125
Symonds: 39 @92

Maxwell absolutely creams him on the SR despite the lower average. Before his slump he was averaging 40 too!

Preposterous to even compare them Sloggy. Andrew Symonds was a different beast altogether.

Maxwell has a LOT of potential.

His off spin is actually good.

He may not match Symonds the test player but can overtake him in LOIs with enough work.

Yeah nope, irrespective of his issues Symonds was defn a better pressure player than Maxwell is right now.

Symonds in this era would have ran riot.

He was a pure brute.

Symonds >Maxwell

Let Maxwell avg 45 at SR of 110 and then we will compare..

Symonds was an altogether different beast. As good as India's Yuvraj Singh.

Symonds vs Yuvraj would be a better comparison.

Maxy is more like BMac...

Symonds well ahead right now. This is where the stats lie. He was unbelievably destructive and played some absolute clutch knocks. I'd even go as far as saying he had a lot more natural ability than maxwell as well.

Forget batting and bowling, Symonds was an incredible fielder. Just incredible. Worth at least 20 runs per innings on the strength of his fielding. Maxwell is nowhere near as good as Symonds was in the field.

Symonds was basically Jonty Rhodes and Sanath Jayasuriya rolled into one insane player.

Symonds is an absolute beast with bat and in the field. He used to score triple centuries against visiting teams for fun. He underacheived as a player and has off field issues but he is a far consistent player than maxwell will ever be

Maxwell is not even close to Symmo in ODIs lets not talk about tests (symonds averages more than 3 times)
Even in T20s which is Maxy's favourite format Symmo had higher SR and 20 more average (close to 50).

How is this even a question? Symonds is a Brummie and therefore superior by default.

Symonds, even if you consider that in future, Maxwell will fulfill all his potential.

There really is no comparison here. Symonds was destructive when 400+ scores were not common.

Dreaded facing Symonds, he seemed to give us a hiding every time we played Australia.

Indeed me friend, most people don't know of his superhero origin story :))

@ the OP, Symonds any day of the week and x2 during the weekends much like how I'd pic Big Mac for multiple games during a Saturday and Sunday :afridi

Maxwell may end up being a better test cricketer who knows

Hard to compare em ,
Symonds - a more consistent batter , defintiely would be good to count upon for odd 25-30 runs and hold it down, decent bowler
Maxell - More uncertain , definitely better ability to take the game away from the opposition but less dependable.

Always always prefer maxo

His is one of the biggest underachiever

Hope he proves justice to his talent

India should be ashamed of themselves, letting Maxwell score runs against them.

Remember when he ended up batting at #3 in the UAE? Those were fun times.
