Guys

Need some help...

I'll be traveling to Dubai and hopefully watching the PSL matches on Friday 10th Feb.

My hotel is on sheikh Zahid road across from Dubai mall. What's the best way to get to the stadium?

Also any other tips would be much appreciated as it's my first visit to Dubai.

Thank you in advance :)

Definitely taxi, much faster than buses, and the cricket stadium is in a relatively newer part of town where pubic transport is not that prevalent

Recommendation would be to change your hotel if the purpose of the trip is PSL. You're pretty far from the Stadium and Taxi could cost you an arm and a leg both ways. You also have the option of using Uber or Careem but yeah, there's probably no public transport going down to the stadium.

I did the same during last years psl and it was good fun. Here's some advice. Leave your place at least two and a half hours before the game starts. I missed the first innings of the Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta gladiators playoff. I left an hour before the game started and normally it would take 20 minutes to get to the stadium but it took more than 45 because the road was blocked. Ended up having to get out of the car and walk 15 minutes to the stadium. Still managed to get there on time but the worst was yet to come. I had to wait an hour and a half just to get in to the stadium! There were thousands of people crowded outside the tiny entrance. The second game I watched between Karachi and Islamabad was pretty much empty so comfortably got there in time. So yeah. Leave really early because you might end up missing half the game.

The are hardly any hotels near the stadium; The Courtyard Marriott in the Green Community is the closest by distance but its in middle of nowhere, and the OP would have to spend either ways to come to Dubai when its not match time...

Thanks for the tips -

I'll be watching the Friday game so plan is to leave hotel early and try and pray jumma close to the stadium. Game starts around 3pm give my self plenty of time to get in.

Changing the hotel is not really an option as my son is with me and we want to do other things the next couple of days like wild wadi etc.

I was thinking of getting the metro and then grap a taxi?

Just forget the Metro/taxi combo, you will lose a lot of time .... I don't recall many Masajid within walking distance of the stadium ...

Maybe you can hire a taxi with a Pakistani/Bengali driver who will pray Juma, and ask him to take you to a mosque closer to the stadium, probably in Al - Barsha, and straight to the stadium after that. You run the risk of not getting a taxi post-Juma if you leave your previous taxi ...

Uber it straight to the stadium. The most convenient way in my opinion. Make sure you're at the stadium at least one hour before the match starts, and that's cause it's a Friday and most likely a sell out. People go crazy.

How does uber work over there? Also what I'm i looking at paying for the ride?

Can you rent car from enterprise or other car rental places? Not sure if they have services in Dubai

It is better to stay on Sheikh Zayed Road , as the stadium is located on E311- Sheikh Mohammad Road which is like a ring road to UAE so you wont find much to do around.

Try getting yourself booked into Conrad Hotel, as it is the place where all the teams stayed last time around.

Basically the Roads are packed in rush hour which is

6AM-10AM from Sharjah to Dubai, Dubai to AbuDhabi.

4:30PM-8PM From Dubai to Sharjah , Abu Dhabi to Dubai

The Stadium is located on E311 road towards Sharjah. Last time around it was tough getting to the stadium as the exits where not proper, now the Dubai Investment Park exits have been transformed into a system of flyovers so there won't be much of a fuss about reaching on time.

The best option would be to use a taxi(Search for HALA Taxi online), or rent a car but you need to be dependent on a navigator. Dubai is overloaded with south Asians so getting lost is not an option.

A Taxi Trip from Dubai Mall to Dubai Sports City will cost you 65 Dhs (One Way)

Don't Forget to visit :

Wild Wadi
Atlantis-Palm
Kite Beach
Shopping Malls(Dubai Mall, Emirates Mall, Ibn-E-Batuta Mall)
Desert Safari
Take a Tour bus

As the weather presently is perfect 17°C-25°C If you have good amount of time, visit Jabel Hafeet in Al-Ain one of the most peaceful cities of UAE.

Thank you for some very useful tips. I don't think I'll get all them things in as I'm only there for three full days and one day is dedicated to cricket :)

Guys sorry for the late response I've been meaning to post my experience on here and thank you all for the tips etc 👍🏼

We had an amazing time watched two games and got to rub shoulders with most of our Pakistan team players. Will post some pictures once I figure out how to :)
