Amazing and very emotional to finally see international cricket return to Pakistan.

It's been a long wait and it was brilliant to hear the roar of a Pakistani crowd during an international match.

The cricket felt as if it was almost secondary and it was really pleasing to see a full house and a trouble-free environment.

I don't know how I'll ever feel ok watching a match in the UAE again. Seeing our people, the noise, the jazba, our players and crowd singing Qauma Tarana at Gaddafi...nothing else will feel right again

But at least for these two weeks Inshallah we can savor the joy.

Does anyone have any videos of the entrance? I missed it dealing with Willow TV issues!

Nothing like watching International games in Pakistan. It was as heartwarming as it was emotional.

Almost had tears in my eyes when I saw the crowd and roar...

I wish this tour will finish on high note.

The roar of the crowd
A full house
Thousands of signs supporting the players
The characteristic poor umpiring
The pervy cameramen :ghalib
I haven't felt nostalgia like this in a LOOONG time

Also so much credit to go around - from the 6,000 Policemen doing their job to Ramiz Raja leaving IPL to come do commentary at home. I give him a lot of grief as well, but you could tell how happy he was too.

Inshallah Pakistan we will experience this joy throughout.

Any videos?

Best fans in the world and very sporting to! they cheered the Zimbabweans as well

Also Afridi makes me so mad constantly, but that felt pretty right how he ended the match.

Congrats guys. Although i didn't enjoy the quality of the camera but that's a small issue. Hopefully pcb will look into it.

Best moment for me was when the crowd sung along to Hai Koi Him Jaisa. Fantastic atmosphere.

Makes you realise how much of our history at home we've taken for granted over the years.

Would love to see that too, the atmosphere was incredible throughout. Can't wait for the next match - these crowds are far better than the handful of people that'd turn up in the UAE.

I agree that it won't feel the same again when we play in the UAE again. We got used to playing away from home but not we have a taste of it again, but let's savour the next 4 matches.

You cannot get the same atmosphere elsewhere.

Continuing from the discussion in the Match Thread, I do think our ODI team has struggled in the UAE, because they find it difficult to score in ODIs on the slow and low pitches. In the last 6 yrs, we've won ODI series in SouthAfrica & India, but we failed to beat any team apart from SL in the UAE..

But our performances in Pakistan in ODIs in the last few years have been pretty poor as well, we lost to Sri Lanka, South Africa and India in the last 3 years - 2006 to 2009, and continued that form into UAE.

We always seem to do well in India for some reason, even though Pakistani wickets are equally flat. We lost both of our ODI series at home to India in 2004 and 2006, but have beaten them in two of our last three bilateral series in India - 2005 and 2013.

It was amazing. You could sense this was the sound of freedom which had been kept quiet for all these years. I really hope this could become a regular occurrence. The ppl need the happiness and entertainment they receive from the sport.

didnt someone say teh crowd wasnt gonna come? I really would love to throw a giant custard humble pie on their faces right now!!

Yes indeed. I honestly didn't think it would be this special !

Favourite part was the Pakistan's national anthem sang by every person in the stadium. A rare sight.

I hope and pray we get a decent crowd for ODI.

T20 is a short spectacle but it doesn't mean as much for us right now in cricketing world.

Will people show for ODIs? Maybe the excitement people see on TV will carry over and they'll want to be there for those matches. It's really hot though...

Amazing to see full house.
wonder how PP wrist slitters will be able to sleep tonight.

Does anyone know the capacity of the stadium it doesnt look like 60000 people

It was electric man. Great to watch. Reminded of the time Shoaib used to steam in with the full crowd behind him.

Would love to see that too, the atmosphere was incredible throughout. Can't wait for the next match - these crowds are far better than the handful of people that'd turn up in the UAE.

Thing is, with all due respect to the UAE crowds, a lot of them are labour class people with not a lot of knowledge of the game. And it shows in their reactions, chants and quick exits when Afridi does a quick exit.

With Pak crowds, especially those in Multan, you sense that the majority of them know the game and it shows. Yes, there are tharkis in the crowd there to watch other types of game, but that just adds to the flavour of it.

Was it just me or was half the stadium actually blocked off to the public for security reasons? There were literally no occupied seats behind the scoreboard and sight screens. It would make sense I guess.

The buzz when a fast bowler runs up at Gaddafi...can't beat it. Wahab got it today.

Even if the bowler is Bhatti. :)))

Yeah, only 27k seats were available.

A day full of great moments.

Crowd chanting "Zimbabwe"

Chants of Pakistan Zindabad

The buzz (earned or not) when Wahab ran up his first ball.

Crowd chanting "selfie selfie" and Shehzad pretending to take a selfie. Amazing.

Boom boom hitting the last four - he makes me so mad that he's sticking around still, but man he is a showman.

But would it have killed the ICC to make ONE statement supporting Pakistan? What a biased miserable organization.

... not at all bad to have a game on the home soil ... but seriously guys ... Cricket wise, it was Zimbabwe !!

PTV sport is unbearable though. I believe only they have the rights to show all home Pak games and this is the first time i was watching a Pak game on PTV. I don't know how many of you can stand this pathetic and embarrassing coverage.

Amazing to see full house.
wonder how PP wrist slitters will be able to sleep tonight.

One or two of them have had the nerve to turn up in this thread, but most have had the sense to stay away and keep their ill wishes to themselves. I thank them for that. I wish one of the UK channels had picked up the rights though. More fans should have been able to watch this.

What difference does it make if it's Australia or Zimbabwe. Bottom line is International cricket is back in Pakistan after 6 long years.

abay surr gay hoan gay under say watching this..theyre probably hoping something goes wrong so they can ban us for good!!

Just cannot compare this to the crowds we get at UAE.

But the point Saqs makes it very good. Majority of the UAE crowd are the poor working and labor class people so to expect them to be as knowledgeable about the game and just be as groomed in general is unfair.

In this match you usually saw the middle class and upper middle class who due to their background are more aware of things in general and hence add to a better atmosphere. This is more representative of Pakistan ofcourse

I am sure this whole series will see the Best of Pakistani supporters come out in droves.

Can some one provide any clips or links for those who missed the match please.

Well it makes a lot of difference depending which side of the fence you're on.
On the one hand you have the neutral spectator whose only interest is good cricket and/or some entertainment value.
Then you obviously have the Pakistani fan who wants Pakistan to win at all costs with some entertainment thrown in, regardless the competence or quality of the opposition.

Congratulations guys. This is what the sport is all about. It's like national festival has come back to Pakistan. Baby steps still, but vital baby steps.

Years from now Pakistanis will look at the scorecard and wonder what the fuss was about. Why a one-sided T20 generated such meaning. But the simple answer is that after six years, a country had a chance to feel normal once again. A chance to remind itself that it was part of the larger world, that its hopes and dreams also had a right to exist.

I was half the way across the world and I had adrenaline pumping when they played the national anthem and the crowd sang it.. Akhir dil hai Pakistani..

What scenes.. How we have missed this and how lucky are other nations to not be deprived of this privilege..

Great to see international cricket return to Pak after all these years. Here's hoping that it all goes well.

loved the support of crowd.
They cheered for both Pak and Zimb.
this is what real Pakistan is.

Great sight for any cricket fan.

Even if this tour is a once off, being able to take the game back to the fans makes it a success.

Congratulations to Pakistan on hosting a match after so long. It was great to see the fans and to compare with the ones in UAE (even though they are almost all expat Pakistanis as well)

1) The crowd in Lahore was very gender balanced (or was it the photographer spotting girls, compared to the UAE where entire stands are unofficially off-limits to ladies :) )

2) The applause and cheers felt like the crowd were more well versed in cricket (in contrast to UAE where the loudest cheers are invariably when Afridi comes on to bat)

3) Most fans seemed to be singing the Qaumi Tarana, in the matches I went to in AUH and Dubai, a much lower proportion of fans would sing

Congratulations again and may we get to see Pakistan playing all other nations eventually in their own stadiums

When 60,000 delirious voices screamed fervently into the night and the result mattered not this is what Pakistan is.
the most beloved of all sports in the country, is back. The legendary Muttiah Muralitharan was the last man to send down an international delivery in Pakistan — the fourth ball of his fifth over before the end of day two in THAT Test. It took more than six years for that drought to end but it finally did when Anwar Ali ran in to ball the first bowl to Zimbabwe opener Hamilton Masakadza. He may be no Muttiah Muralitharan but for that precious few seconds when Anwar came running in, he was even more loved than the greatest off-spinner to grace the game. For six long years there had been deafening silence in the empty stands of Gaddafi; but not tonight, not anymore. The first ball hit Masakadza’s pads. Anwar Ali went up half in appeal, Sarfraz Ahmed also enquired politely. The crowd though just kept on cheering. They didn’t bother joining in the appeal. Instead they shouted and danced and celebrated and jumped up and down in ecstatic frenzy, looking at each other almost in joyous disbelief — the first ball had been bowled.
these were the moments. and Finally cricket realised it had never left the nation.
On March 3, 2009, an immense beast was put to sleep. On May 23, 2015, it awoke again, as formidable as it ever was. May its roar forever echo through the streets of Pakistan.
Cricket had been missed, so had been the roar of the crowd.. may Allah keep this Roar Alive.

Wow moment

When the umpire Ahsan Raza, who was shot while shielding the match referee Chris Broad back in the March 2009 attacks, entered the ground, he knelt down and performed the sajda.

Wow moment 2

When the Pakistan national anthem started, emotions were at their peak and many eyes started to shed the tears of joy. There was jubilation, too, as the people wanted to show the world they were a peaceful cricket-loving nation.

The Roar off Pak fans is something else ferocious/fearless cricket mad people, BD fans sound like little kitty Kats in comparison.

What a great performance by the team, really did justice to the overwhelming support.

Bowled minnow level garbage in both games and crapped their pants in the last 5 overs on both occasions, trying utmost to bottle the run chase.

Awful display of cricket.

in comes Babar Azam and NSK is roaring with "Babar!! Babar!! Babar!!"...🔥

This is so refreshing to see home crowd giving their superstar due respect
