Rishabh Pant lit up Headingley not just with his bat, but with his flair. After smashing a one-handed six to bring up his seventh Test century, the India vice-captain stunned the crowd with a flawless handspring celebration — a move more at home in a gymnastics arena than a cricket field. It wasn’t just a tribute to his milestone, but a statement of joy, resilience, and pure Pant charisma. From recovering after a near-fatal accident to flipping over the turf in front of a roaring Leeds crowd, Pant reminded the world why he’s box office.

Now, if we’re talking about who in the Pakistan camp could pull off something similar — both in terms of athleticism and showmanship — a few names come to mind:
  • Shadab Khan: Agile, expressive, and a natural entertainer. His celebratory energy and fielding acrobatics suggest he could absolutely land a handspring if he tried.
  • Mohammad Haris: Young, fearless, and full of flair. He’s got the athleticism and the confidence to make a moment like that his own.
  • Shaheen Afridi: While not known for flips, his celebratory leaps and charisma after wickets show he’s got the physicality and presence to pull off something dramatic.
That said, Pant’s celebration wasn’t just about athleticism — it was about personality. So the real question is: who in the Pakistan squad has the swagger to make a flip feel like a mic drop?

I don't think this is something a player should do. Why risk an injury over this?

Pakistani players can do it after they emulate him and help their team win their first ever Test series in Australia. These types of celebrations are not hated upon after you put on some special performances over your career.

In the past, when a player used to score a century, he would take off his helmet and simply waive his bat. It was a simple celebration yet a pleasant one.

Some of these modern day cricketers get very cringy with celebrations. I have to say they are attention-seekers. :inti

Credit to Pant for celebrating his test series win in Australia by summersaulting in England many years later.

Cring celebration , i don't like at all . He can Injured himself here. :kp

Doing it once or twice is fine, but he should just stop before it becomes overdone.

It’s not about the celebration. They only look good when the timing is right. When you have something special. When you are a truly special player.

Loved it. It felt so good to see the playfulness. Jeete raho rishabh. It looks like many people enjoyed it in stadium too.

The most cringeworthy celebration in recent times is that bowler guy in ipl with long hair like he is writing something can’t remember his name. I would hit him hard and make him get a haircut. Could not stand him and never want to see his face again

He was Digvesh Rathi. BCCI rightly banned him for a game or 2.

He however, recently took 5 wickets in an over.

I have no doubt in my mind that Rizzu can do better than that. But Rizzu being a gentleman would avoid such show off.
One of the rare instances I agree with you. Well sort off. The non celebration part is true.

The gentleman part is false though

Same Rizzu who huffs and puffs and pulls his hamstring after every other over?

Naah. You need great fitness to pull off such acts.

U think pant has great fittness. You dont really need great fittness for this. You just need to know it. Shaheen is fit but if he doesnt know how to do it he cant.

U know nothing about fast bowling if u think he isnt fit. You just cant be unfit and be a fastbowler at highest level. Not talking about bad knees or injuries but physically shaheen is fit. Infact he is the only one who actually has that athlete built.

Pant was a gymnast most of his life, so yes he is pretty fit and lumber. Like Shastri said in the match, the kind of injuries he suffered in the accident, only a very fit person can recover so soon.

Very simple and pleasant celebrations in the past.

Not a fan. Looks out of place on a cricket field.

Don't think flair is something that I'd associate with it.

Rishabh Pant's surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who treated him after his near-fatal car accident in 2022, called the somersault celebration 'unnecessary'. Following his century against England in the first Test match, Pant performed a brilliant summersault leaving both fans and experts stunned. However, during an interview with The Telegraph, Dr Pardiwala said that although Pant has trained as a gynmast and possesses the training and agility to perform it, the somersault celebration may not be necessary. “Rishabh trained as a gymnast. Although he looks large, he is quite agile, and he does have a lot of flexibility.” “And, that's why he's been doing those somersaults of late."

“It's a well-practised and perfected move – unnecessary though!” he added.

When India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was brought into a hospital in Mumbai following grievous injuries suffered in a car crash in December 2022, the first question he asked the attending doctor was "will I be able to play again?" recalled renowned orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who treated the superstar cricketer following the horrific incident.

Pant, while driving from Delhi to his hometown, Roorkee, on December 30, 2022 lost control of his car which crashed into a divider and caused him severe injuries.

He was pulled out of the mangled mass, and Pardiwala said, "Rishabh Pant was extremely lucky to be alive - extremely lucky." "When he first came in, he had a dislocated right knee. He also had an injury to his right ankle, lots of other minor injuries all over. He had a lot of skin loss, so his entire skin from the nape of the neck down to his knees was completely scraped off in the process of that accident," Pardiwala told The Telegraph, recalling the brutal impact of the crash on Pant's body.
