But Imad has much more responsibility for Pakistan than Pandya for India.

It is often Imad needs to come early to get Pakistan to a respectable score.

Sorry to interfere the conversation but just wanted to mention that while Pandya has taken 10 wickets his avg and economy has even further deteriorated in this WC.

Every commentator during this WC has commented on how Hardik has improved as a bowler this WC.

From learning variations like the slower bouncer (which troubled many and got wickets) to actually bowling 10 overs in almost every match (something all Indians were sceptical of even 10 months ago), he's much better now.

I'm still not saying that he's become a great bowler. Not even a very good one. But there is no doubt that he has improved a lot in the last 12 months. So that's been my line of argument.

From the last few months to just world cup 2019? One tournament is good enough to tell you that he has improved? That is why I asked you to look at his career average because that gives a clear picture of how consistent a player is. 54 matches is a good enough sample size. This is his limit. He won't go beyond that. He will remain a 28-30 averaging batsman and and 36-38 averaging bowler.

There is no need to overhype him or call others haters if they don't share your expert opinion here. As I said not everyone loves mediocrity.

And I don't have any problems with you. Hardik isn't related to me. I criticise him too. Did so in this very thread. Still call his batting bang average.

I know we can get a little heated in our discussions. I believe it's because we are passionate cricket fans. There's no ill will in anything we say.

Imad is somewhat of a better T20 cricketer since his bowling is pretty good in that format whereas Pandya's bowling ain't that great. Batting wise Pandya's batting represents the modern ODI requirements as a late order hitter, a good replacement for someone like Dhoni who isn't suited for his role anymore due to his age, Pandya's hitting abilities are amazing and needed in ODI's and T20's. Imad is a more proper batsman who isn't really a hitter but has somehow maintained an average above 40 which is strange but then again he's been consistent. If you want someone who's batting can win you a match with electric fielding then go for Pandya. If you want someone who can stem the flow of runs as well as castling batsmen with a good arm ball in addition to some reliable batting then Imad is for you.

He is a better batsmen than 28-30 averaging. And is a hitter. So, a better SR adds up as well.

Please state why you think Pandya has improved, when his average in the WC is significantly worse than his overall average.

His batting stats in the past year or so will reveal similar.

Because I saw him bowl, that's why.

If we are going by just bowling average than Shakib Al Hasan and Ben Stokes have both regressed as bowlers in this WC. Which I'm sure you will agree is not true.

Stokes off-sets his bowling average by his impressive batting stats. Shakib has a monstrous 86 batting average, while he has 11 wickets and a match-winning five-wicket haul in one of the WC matches.

Pandya barely averages 30 with the bat, and a pathetic 44 with the ball. Cmon mate, you are once again going on potential, as I stated in my initial post. He is a mediocre cricketer, through and through.

That is completely irrelevant. It doesn't matter how well Stokes and Shakib batted. That has no bearing on their bowling stats in this WC, which is what you questioned in the earlier quote.

I still maintain that Pandya is an average bat and has only after this WC moved on from being an average bowler to a decent/good one.

I am not going on potential. I'm going on growth and what I am seeing with my own eyes. Pandya looked a much better and effective bowler in this WC than he did 12 months ago.

Yes, he is still only "good" as a bowler. Nothing special whatsoever. But I'm looking at his growth and happy to see he has improved. Idk if he will get any better from here on. But there has certainly been significant improvements in his bowling till now.
