San Francisco Unicorns have added Ben Lister to its roster for the remainder of the 2025 Cognizant Major League Cricket season, after Haris Rauf was ruled out of this year’s tournament having picked up a hamstring injury in the team’s recent victory over Texas Super Kings.

Ben Lister, 29, brings international experience to the Unicorns’ pace attack, having earned 12 T20I caps for his native New Zealand where he has honed his abilities at the top of the innings and developed variation in the death overs, ensuring like-for-like cover for Rauf’s playing duties. The left-arm seamer has been training with the squad for the past two weeks and will be available for selection immediately.

Haris Rauf, MLC 2025’s leading wicket-taker, had to be substituted from the field in the Unicorns’ win against Texas Super Kings, and following an MRI scan, the Unicorns’ physio department and the league’s medical director has deemed that Rauf’s Grade 1 hamstring strain makes him unavailable for selection in the playoffs, which begin in Grand Prairie, near Dallas, TX, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

The Unicorns finish the league phase at the County Broward Stadium, FL, this evening, July 6, against LA Knight Riders, knowing that a win will confirm their position in the league’s top two and take them to the Qualifier game in the playoffs.
