Has any new player emerged and flourished under Misbah-ul-Haq/Waqar Younis combo?

When Mickey Arthur was there along with Inzi we saw new faces in the team which were backed and see them today
1. Babar- High praise by Mickey and made him play number 3 when he was just starting out
2. Fakhar- Realising that Shehzad is crap, persisted with Fakhar throughout CT.
3. Shady- Another player who was flying high on confidence and performance under Mickey-Inzi combination
4. Faheem- This was truly special. It took some time but still they saw the talent
5. Imad- Another of Mickey's favorites
6. Imam- Got good backing and did decently well
These are some of the players introduced who are still here and forming backbone of our cricket. Coming to this management we are seeing pathetic players picked with no experience or talent. Haider Ali did well but is no where now. Abdullah Shafiq too don't know what he's doing with team. I mean those days it appeared we have some vision on developing a team. Nowadays it's like throwing every Tom dick Harry into the deep end and it's so easy getting Pakistan cap. Don't even get me started on Asif Ali who Mickey realised is crap in Asia cup and here he is making mockery of our cricket.

Well said, these two make a big hoo-ha over playing youngsters but never give them a clear role or backing through tough periods like Mickey/Inzy did with Babar.

Look at Haider Ali's international career so far, he's already batted at 2, 3 and 4 despite only playing about a dozen matches. Give him the #5 spot and back him instead of chopping and changing.

The could play Sarfraz as a batsman if they're short of batters. Asif Ali is a tail-ender and a con man. He has conned his way to get this far in cricket. He has no integrity. He shouldn't be in this squad.

Misbah is a safety approach coach, captain and player. No player emerged when he was captain, how can you expect someone will emerge when he is a coach.

Waqar has been with the team for 20 years now. He coached like 5 times and yet to produce a single bowler who has the ability to bowl reverse swing. He is just there for his pay cheques. The guy was a lethal fast bowler during his early days and that is his only accomplishment in life. I don’t even rate him highly as a human being as he is quite insulting towards fans too (talking from personal experience).

There is no excuse for anyone to play Asif Ali in professional cricket. He offers absolutely nothing. Hassan Ali is a better hitter than him. Mohammad Hasnain showed more ability with the bat.

I remember in club cricket sometimes you would play a couple of guys to make up the numbers. They didn't actually have a role to play. They would bat at 7/8/9 when required. That is literally what we are doing with our national team.

When Sarfaraz Ahmed and 40 year old Hafeez are being touted as the solutions to the middle order, you can't really blame the management too much.

It is not their fault that zero talent exists in Pakistan. They have every right to try people out. Danish and Asif have only played 2 games, not 2 years.

I have been asking this question for quite long time.

Misbah and Waqar are there with the team in different capacity coach, captain, selector etc for more than 6-7 years now and they have not provided any player or left any player to speak of.

These two give them 50 years and they would still not produce any talent.

They are hesitant to play youngsters, can’t back them when they fail because they are easy scapegoats for them. They won’t give them a role. For bowlers they won’t know if they will bowl with the new ball or old ball or death bowling. For batsman they will play from 1 to 6 and will not stay in the team.

These two I wouldn’t even have them coach any domestics side or be it a franchise.

Sooner they are sacked better for Pakistan otherwise they will close out some promising careers ..

Exactly , it has been happening for more than a decade especially when these two are involved.

According to these stubborn selfish clueless coaches who ever can play at a SR of over 120 they should either open or bat at 6 to slog. That is their knowledge of cricket. Since Misbah never ever played with such SR he doesn’t know in which positions they would play. Wonder how these two would have coached yuvraj Morgan and abdv

Haris rauf is a flawed selection he is not fit for ODI cricket, gives too many runs, He doesn’t know how to bowl in a ODI match for 10 overs. He is just good for t20s.
