I am a passionate cricket fan as most of the PPers here. There have been many ups and downs with our respective cricket teams.. India, Pakistan, Austalia, New Zealand etc. There have been lot of moments with our cricket teams which we share.... We lose, we win, we get angry, we get happy, we feel shocked, we feel satisfied... All in all we share lot of emotions with this sport.

Have there been any moments in your life that you wanted to cry in happiness, when cricket gave you tears? There have been many emotional moments for me with team India... Like when Sachin retired and everyone was giving him guard of honor, his speech etc..

When we won T20 world cup, it was a moment of joy again. It was a tournament none expected us to win but MS captained us to win... I didnt see Kapil winning the cup but now I could say that I have seen team India winning the world cup....

But the only moment which made me cry was world cup 2011. It was the last time Sachin was playing in world cup... Agony of working hard in every world cup and still losing every time. Carrying the team on his shoulders for so long.. Everyone was crying there.. But when everyone carried Sachin on his shoulders... I felt something in my eye.. yes even I cried...For one and last time....

Would you like to share some of your moments with your team?

i havent done that..yes sachin winning 2011 wc was a proud moment for all of you people.....

Yes, when lala retired after 2015wc cup.

I secretly wish, lala should make a comeback.

But I don't say here, I would be eaten alive.

But yeah, my eyes filled with tears after 2015wc..

I didn't even watch/follow any cricket for about 6 months.

I love lala

Recently I threw my hands around like a madman, when Pakistan played Australia [4th ODI I think] and my uncle started crying...then again I did smash his favourite saucepan and tea cup when I flung my arms around when Rizwan was given LBW on 10...

Does that count?

He He He... Have some spine bro.. If you have anything in mind express it... I believe it too... Afridi deserves a farewell series but only when it is assured that he will retire after that. He has given nation so much cheering moments so I think PCB can also hand him a farewell game...

Its like.... Cant explain what it is but yes it happened in flow of emotions so it counts...

Never cried except for the 2001 Champion's Trophy finals loss to NZ.

Couldn't control myself after seeing the epic choke job by our batting.

The most exhilarating moment was watching the 2007 T20 finals in my hostel.

Around 100-200 people (maybe even more) jam packed in the hostel lobby, glued to one TV. People were sitting on the floor, staircases, any and everywhere possible. Not an inch to move or even breath.

When Pakistan collapsed, we thought we would win comfortably. Then came Misbah onslaught. We were worried but still confident. Then the six in the final over deflated us. Thought the game was over.

But then what happened later was so sudden and shocking that a pin drop silence erupted into a deafening roar of pure unadulterated joy.

A hostel full of sweaty, stinky boys were screaming their hearts out and jumping around for a long long time. Even those who didn't get along with each other were hugging and dancing around like there was no tomorrow. :))

I didn't cry when India won but that was my BEST EVER EVER EVER EVER moment of watching cricket.

I had lots of other great memories but this was the best.

Yuvi's thrashing of Aussies in 2007 WT20 SF is right up there cos I watched it in the same way in the hostel. So many gaalis we shouted every time Yuvi arrogantly deposited the ball in the stands.

Sachin's Sharjah, WC 2011, CT 2013 will always be special.

It's only a luxury for fans like Indian fans who only lose once or twice in a year. Like an Indian friend of mine who thinks all is lost whenever India loses a wicket.

The 99 world cup! i was 14 years old and when pakistan lost the final, I burst into tears!

The semi final against india in 2011 did not make me cry but i was depressed!

The two aboved mention matches , reason it effected me was cause we had a chance to win.

Nowadays before the match looking at our lineup i know 8/10 matches against any decent team we will lose.

1999 WC final ( Day before my birthday :po:) and in 2007 WC both time Pakistani team was on peak and was expected to do a lot but they just ruined everything

I started watching cricket from 2003 World cup... so didnt had the luxury of watching match vs NZ.. But yes that 2007 final match was really amazing. Also because wining against Pak is always amazing... :)

Nope mate, cricket is first. Not the player.

I personally want him to comeback.
But when he's not in good form, he shouldn't.

I would personally want him to get in form and then comeback.

He might give some balance to the team at no. 8.

His hitting is light years ahead of rizwan at 8.

I would personally like this line up

Sharjeel
Shahzaib
Babar
Haris
Sarfraz
Akmal
Imad
Afridi
Amir
Junaid
Hasan / Wahab / Irfan

Afridi is for sure much better than nawaz and rizwan combined.

Also it would bring leg spinner into the team

I have no qualms in admitting that I shed a couple of tears when Misbah was tuk tuking to his heart's content during the 2011 semi. A small part of me died that day.

Misbah can never repay for what he robbed us off on that day.

I started watching from 97.

You missed out 98 Sharjah man.

Just wow wow wow stuff bro.

Those Indians who watched it LIVE won't forget it until their dying breath.

2001 test series against Aus was another incredible moment for Indians. I honestly believe Laxman's knock transformed Indian cricket mentally.

But then good thing you started watching from 00s. 90s was a horrendous era for us. :))

Wasnt Misbah's fault alone I believe. Rest of the players were equally at fault...

Yes , Once I was batting and a ball nipped back, hit me hard where the guard should have been.

Blacked out for a couple of seconds and some tears in my eyes.

And died when Warner swept Vinay Koomar for a 6.

I can never get that image out of my head.

Inzi used to come down to spinners like that :))

though warner's phainty of our bowlers in the test recently was also up there

When Rahat Ali dropped that catch in the WC quarter final after all the hard work. I think I may have shed a tear, not sure though.

Lords 2016 was an emotional moment, loved the celebrations. Also Misbah getting his century and the teams reaction when he got it was emotional considering what happened the last time we played at Lords before that.

There wasn't many times I was tearful though tbh. Have been angry though before.

Can't remember. I have sort of vague recollection that a tear or two might have rolled down after 2011 semi loss but I was mentally preoccupied at that time so I am not sure.

Other than that, the closest I have been to shedding a tear was when I heard about SL team attack in Lahore. Might be because I heard the news along with the rumour that Samaraweera has died.

Maybe the 1999 world cup final and hobart 99.
Thereafter some part of me accepted that Pakistan is a team that is quite brittle when attacked. It didnt matter that we had world class players etc, we were fundamentally a brittle team.
Someone has to write an alternative history of Pakistan cricket which has to document how some of our champion teams from later 90's onwards would wilt under pressure or when confronted with aggressive play.

2011 WC finals post-match.....that scene was epic....brought tears to ever Indian cricket fan....everything right from the hug and huddle after that Dhoni 6 to see the team carrying Sachin on his shoulders, the backstage pics...pretty much everything associated with it.

2007 WT20 was more like a relief followed by adrenaline rush.....I really didn't care for the T20 format till that particular day.

2003 Ind vs Pak game brought tears of joy where as the 2003 finals brought tears for a different reason.

Also SRT's retirement speech.

I cried in 2000 when Pakistan lost at Antigua against the WI.
Then Cried Again at Sydney 2010.

LOIs don't really effect me that much so Mohali (Even though that was depressing as hell) didn't make me shed tears however I did actually shed a tear or two (from happiness I guess) when we blanked the Aussies 2 zip in the UAE. It was such a long streak that was broken that day that finally I was relived of the fact that it had happened during my own lifetime.

I still remember Deno was commentating while Misbah and Younis were leading the team off the ground after the 2nd game 'Those two players, veterans....brilliant players in their own right.....leading from the front' at that point a tear rolled down my eye seeing those brilliant scenes.

Yuvi was fighting cancer in those 2011 wc days but still played and was man of the tournament... He told that he got blood in his mouth after the match and then he knew he was playing with cancer... Real fighter that guy...

One more moment which comes to my mind is SA losing to NZ in semis of WC... Abd had tears in his eyes. It feels bad when you do your bit and still lose. I was feeling bad. some of the saffers must have cried...

Yes 2007 WT20 Final and 2011 WC Semi Final two heartbreaking games. Misbahs scoop shot still haunts me.

Yes ! When moin had to hit six of the last ball in chasing 350 perhaps vs India. I got so depressed that my parents restrained me from watching cricket for almost 6 months. I was only 12 by that time.

Bawled like a child during the 2011 WC. Did so again for other reasons during the 2014 WC.

Haven't got tears since, but christ do I get nervous. Watching the team batting, dunno if Pak fans can relate, but for the entirety of the innings I'm in a PTSD esque state where I'm constantly shaking knowing any damn second a bomb will go off and five wickets will fall. Gets magnified 100 fold when chasing.

I went from watching every match even if it meant waking up at 2am. After the Mohali semi final loss I was distraught. I never cried but was hurt back then and didn't follow cricket for about 2/3 years after that!

@ 1999 world cup It was league match against zimbabwe.Sachin had to pull out from the match to attend his dads funeral.India was depleted.Zimbabwe batted first score 253. India fell short by 4 runs.I cried a lot knowing that this loss would dent indias semis chances which it did.

Mohali for sure.

Also England tour to UAE 2012 - the loss in ODIs hit me deep for some reason.

Then Rahat's drop in 2015.

Also I'm sure I shed a few when the spot-fixing trio did what they did.

Oh yes that spot fixing matter happening with one of the best players of Pakistan. Surely another dark chapter after the 2009 SL team attack in Pakistan....

Yes many time. Happy tears(HT),sad tears(ST) both.
1. 1992 wc final. HT
2.1997 wc*qualify HT
3. 1999 wc final. ST
4.*2000 bd vs Ind first ever*test of bd HT
5. 2012 asia cup final ST
6.2015*Pak white wash HT

Clarke scoring a century after Hughes' funeral

yes when Pakistan failed to score 2 runs off 6 balls vs Australia against lallooo bowler maxwell

yeah, standing in 1st slip, hard slash got edged right on the shoulder, i dont know if the tears were of pain in the shoulder or of joy that the face is in tact, but it were tears none the less....

almost anytime we were ousted from world cup... and the attack during the test series on sri lanka, that meant no more cricket in Pak...

2011 semi-final. Cried for an hour, slept, woke up, cried again.

2012 and 2014 T20WC vs India. Shed a few tears.

2015 WC vs India. Cried for like 15 mins.

Tears of joy are something I'm still waiting for with this team. Although the feeling after those 2 sixes from Afridi was too too too good.

2011 world cup final. I was living in hostel those days and we had this strict schedule. We begged our warden to let us watch the semis , arranged cable( paid from our pockets) and were really excited. We all cried that night.

1999 World cup final when i was like 7 years old
2003 World cup India vs Pakistan
2007 world cup ireland vs pakistan
since then i didnt expect anything from Pakistan cricket that much and also i left playing cricket...
it was my dream to play atleast some club level cricket..

1) 1992 India-Australia world cup match in Brisbane in which India lost by 1 run. That hurt!
2) Of course, that Javed Miandad last ball 6

wc 2011 semi final. when lala was having tears in his eyes. that was very sad movement for me.

and tears of joy when lala hit back to back sixers to ashwin, that was very emotional movement for me.

When pak lost to nz in series decider... amir and ajmal put the record last wicket stand but we fell short of just 6 runs...

World Cup 99, 2nd semi final, Australia v South Africa, Match tied and Australia qualified for Final, Cried for Lance Klusener.

The 2015 world cup match against South Africa was the only time I've ever actually cried from joy. Not for the match itself but for what it represented. Vintage Pakistan performance.

Typical 90's batting and bowling. Sarfraz putting in a Saeed Anwar/Moin Khan hybrid batting performance and a bit of Rashid with the catching especially the one off Amla. Misbah playing the Inzi role. Younis and Afridi playing their last meaningful Odi inning's ever.

But, the best part was the bowling; top bowlers lost to spot-fixing, next best lost to suspect actions, the tier below that lost to injuries. Yet Irfan, Wahab, Rahat, and Sohail with his Akhtar-esque celebration after snapping AB, gave one of our greatest collective fast bowling displays in a long time.

Aus Vs Windies 1996 WC semi, cursed that Aus would lose the final, was young then and hated to see the black guys lose.

Some random match in 1997 India against Lanka, was distraught and cried and never after that i ever let myself get that emotional w.r.t cricket.

In 1990's it was not like we were always winning against Pak,so losses against them didn't really make me sad as Pak was the stronger one and i grew up in decade which was clearly Pak's exciting brand of cricket but I'm sure i would be sad when Pak finally defeats us in a WC game.

Pak will win some day.. but good thing is they have 0% wins in world cups.. we have many games won in bilaterals.. he he...

I still remember the heartache I felt when Misbah had a ********* and decided to play that shot and hand his wicket to India in the world cup final. Hated him from that moment on till now.
