Well...there surely were some voices before the start of this series that,it is too much, amir should be thrown out of the team as some people thought he was a liability for the team. But, this man has really bounced back in this series.May be he needs to do more with bowl but guys, the way this man has batted in this series,he just has made the job of selectors very very difficult.May be his batting has made his much more stronger than before.

Yeah his batting has been good. Got a 4-fer with the ball in the last match too.

I wonder what PakPassion would have done had Amir bowled like Starc has done in this test.

There would not only be calls for his dropping, but some might even suggest that he is fixing. Then there would be another segment of PP that would be saying "I told you so", another segment claiming "Amir was never that good anyway".

well man there are many people with everybody having his own opinion...we just cant do anything in this regard. but i mean there were some professional guys who also opposed his selection.

When was his position in the team in doubt? He is an integral part of the team in all formats. Can bat a bit as well which helps in limited overs cricket

never said it was in doubt....voices...

Those guys will come out in full force next time he bowls a ball that doesn't swing. He is easily the best bowler in the country and the fact that he's improving his batting is just a huge bonus

thats exactly what I am pointing towards.......his batting now cements his place

His incarnation into Wasim Raja Mk II has been most pleasing.

I'm obviously kidding, but his batting has been heartening given how weak our tail has been. Yes there's a few hacks but he's also playing proper cricket shots. He should target an average 20-25 at #8 in Tests.

As for his bowling, I'd like to see him pitch the ball fuller and bowl a more attacking length. I also remember Waqar Younis say during the summer he'd like to see Amir get closer to the stumps to increase chances of getting LBWs and bowleds.

Generally, his off the field attitude has been fine and his reintegration handled well.

This is how normal players progress. They get better not worse.

Compare Amir to Junaid or Irfan who after 4 years still couldn't bat and didn't improve his bowling.

Just need Junaid Khan back to perfect our bowling attack.

Aamir,Wahab, Junaid will be a great fast bowling attack.

Both his batting and bowling has improved since his comeback and his batting seems to be at the same level it was pre-ban, but the bowling is still not at that peak.

Hopefully, just like his batting, he eventually reaches his best as a bowler.

He was always an automatic pick even without his batting. he has had a lot of catches dropped off him, unusually high. Plus even still, he is clearly the best of our quicks, which isn't saying much, but you can't exactly go around replacing him, when the other fast bowlers are worse, you get rid of the others first and find better ones. I don't even like him on account of the fixing tbh, but think it's silly to think he doesn't deserve a place in the side on merit.

His batting is getting better sure the same will happen with his bowling. His place was never in doubt .

Junaid has horrible worst last 3 seasons FC and List A records.

Was v glad to see him bowl o well in BPL but again he is having a poor list A tournament. Top wicket taker is averaging 17 while Junaid is averaging 49. Huge difference. Breaks my heart.

Ok, seeing this thread I thought he had taken a 5-fer. This is because he scored 28? Sohail scored 65 I dont see a similar thread for him? There was no thread when Sohail took a 5-fer in England

I think this is one of the chief reason people also attack Amir. When you hype him after every single thing he does, when you create one thread per day for him, of course he will also be criticized more

Oh man dont blow hot and cold...sohail scored 65 today and this thread was posted yesterday....why bring SK here. no comparison with amir

My point was, if you dont open 10 threads about Amir maybe there wont be 10 posts criticizing him when he fails to live up to the hype

His bowling has been below par, make no mistake. He lacks impact with the ball.

The aggression with the bat has been pleasing, but he is supposed to be Pakistan's main strike bowler not their version of Irfan Pathan, and he is not striking enough.

Nonetheless, his fans have made it a matter of personal ambition to defend him to the hilt, but I'm still allowed my opinion. He has not impressed me at all with his bowling since his comeback a year ago, especially given the hype he generated.

His place was never in doubt because he although he is far from world class, his alternatives are not even international class. Those clamoring for Junaid will be the first ones to call for Amir's return if the former replaces him now.

Only bowler looking threatening atm.

Sohail has been decent, Wahab and Yasir have been very poor. Surely you can't drop the guy.

He has always looked threatening without taking wickets since his comeback. Reminds me of Srinath or Bhuvi Kumar

I don't think any sane person will say he doesn't deserve a place in this team, he is Pakistan's best bowler. However it is the over-hype which people criticize. If there are threads about him before every series (and for no other bowlers) then when he does not run through sides, people will post in those threads criticizing.

He needs to put on more muscles and build strength. He needs to bowl heavier balls.

I don't think anyone overhypes him. Look at the post I quoted. Surely Wahab and Yasir should be questioned more instead of hounding Amir who has actually decently well.

This thread happened after he was not out during batting yesterday. Other Pak bowlers (Sohail) took 5-fer in England, Sohail scored 65 here. Riaz took 4 wickets an innings last match You wont see threads on them

Someone FINALLY understands! Amir's fans tend to get their knickers in a twist over any sort of criticism that Amir receives but as you mentioned, the way he gets overhyped and the threads that are started about him are definitely very annoying and the main factor behind my dislikeness for him albeit his performance is fine.

Agree. There are people who overhype him, probably due to bias and nostalgia.

But he should be given credit when he deserves, or at least shouldn't be crucified when he's bowling decent.

This is called x-factor... and this man has a lot of it.

Nah man Pakpassion is pro Amir, we all are, only you think like that.

I think a lot of people criticising Aamir need to remember that it's not the 90's anymore. Bowling is a lot harder than it used to be. Unless you can swing the ball late at a consistent 140 + pace or you are 6'5" seamer who gets bounce and accurate, you cannot be a great bowler. Who h is why we havent seen great bowlers produced in the last two decades apart from Steyn and McGrath. Even Steyn has struggled on flatter decks and Aamir is simply not in that elite bracket. He might become a very good bowler buthe eonr blast away lineups. That's expecting too much.

Disgusting overhype this guy gets. He is so bang average it's unbelievable. He should be dropped after this series. I don't care how he does with the bat. He primary job is to take wickets and the moment he is constantly wasting new bowl. I don't think Micky will put up with this average bowler for much longer. I can't wait for him to be dropped.

Who would you replace him with?

He got like 6 ones very close past the edge on a better day those would be wickets.. Fights with every last drop..bat and bowl. Has one of the best cricketing brain in the country atm. Had like 20 catches dropped off him..

He kept econ under 2 for the first spell ..Junaid or Gul?( LOL) would be 5 an over with no wickets

Yes.

Because we have McGrath waiting at home.

Lets be realistic.

He bowled well today and doesn't deserve criticism.

Amir needs to be made to earn his place in the team. By continuing to play him game after game without performance is what is making him comfortable with mediocrity. Junaid Khan deserves a recall.

He has outscored Misbah is every single innings this tour and taken a 4 fer last and and bowled very well this innings as well. According to your logic Misbah should be kicked out too as his primary job is scoring and let's not talk about his captaincy. Let's not have double standards please.

I personally think that he didn't waste the new ball in this test. He made batsmen play often. Not talking about wickets etc here, but I won't call it wasting the new ball.

Your post is based on disgusting misinformation and intentional twisting of facts.

Cricket transcends hatred. Love the guys for their top skills. Not hate.

Out-batted Misbah in the series. Would have even out-captained him if given the opportunity.

The awkward moment when a bowler out-bats a senior "batsman" :srt

It's funny how defensive Amir fans get when someone criticises him. I don't care about edges or close ones. He should be taking wickets with the new ball which he isn't doing. And lol at Amir fans criticising Misbah. Misbah won the man of the series in England and played a big part in us getting to number 1. Wake me up when Amir does something positive for once with the ball. I think bringing golden boy into the test side is the reason why we are experiencing a decline in test format, a format where we have done well in recent years.
