Has Najam Sethi left a legacy as the best-ever BoG member?

With Najem Sethi on board, here are some of the things he was able to pull off:

1) started the biometics lab. The equipment was already by Dr Nasim Ashraf (DNA), and no one after him was able to set it up.

2)Made PSL a reality. Again, this was discussed in DNA era but no one implemented it. Infact, it was said that PSL taking place in a foreign land wasn't possible.

3) Had few international matches in Pakistan. Even i criticized this decision but it helped in bringing PSL to pakistan

4) Had PSL matches in Pakistan. Did was a great success as it changed the look of Pakistan.
He first had matches in lahore then Karachi. It was stupid stuff from PTI fans who critsizied him for having games in lahore.

Remember Imran mde negative comments regarding PSL 2 matches in PAkistan

5) Took BCCI to courts, many posters here critiszed that.

6) made the Pakistani Captaincy position stable. He didnt make multiple captaincy changes

7) bought in Mickey Arthur, and Inzi

8)Made players contracts based on performance

9) Got PSL great broadcasting service. This was a huge, because many leagues had terrible broadcasters.

10) Was able to expand the PSL with an addition of another team, Multan.

He did well in the absence of better options.

We have a better option now and in line with the mood of this country. Sethi did well and now its time to leave and we wish him well. Those connected to the failed previous government will need to wake up and smell the roses. The party is over.

Lets look ahead to a bright future. I for one am happy that the excesses at the staff level will be part of history now - and not a moment sooner.

Anyone refusing to accept Sethi's contribution to Pakistani cricket over the last few years would be showing extreme bias and in my opinion would severely damage their credibility.

I agree with this, and I also admire Sethi for maintaining his dignity and not attempting to polish some boots to keep his job. However, it was a lose-lose situation for him from the onset because people were simply not happy with him because of his political orientation.

If we look at his tenure objectively, there is no doubt that he did a very fine job. Unfortunately, some people cannot bring themselves to appreciate what he has done.

Not sure how I feel about the Ehsaan Mani. No doubt he has an impressive CV, but he is 70+ and has held ceremonial posts in cricket for many years, and I am not sure if he really has achieved anything of note or come up with influential ideas.

I would have preferred a riskier but a more exciting, left-field type appointment. A fresher approach instead of appointing a yesterday’s man.

Mani has already stated in past interviews that he thinks the PCB has a week case against the BCCI.

If I was a betting man, under Mani I do not think there will be a massive push to claim compensation from the BCCI, however, that is just my personal opinion.

Yup - completely agree with the bit about Sethi.

As for Mani - I agree that he has been picked purely on his past experienced & it could be argues that he may be past it. However, I can also see why that experience is hard to ignore and the potential for how it may benefit Pakistani cricket inshAllah.

He has been decent but I'll reserve my judgement after the conclusion of the rumored corruption scandals involving the PSL. Where he will be asked to show his assets before and after being the chairman and then explain how and why they increased.

I had been browsing PP for months before I joined and one thing I noticed was how people were so critical of PSL. Called it a third class tournament and with pathetic picture quality. Mamoon lead that campaign, but now since Sethi has resigned due to IK all is well and PSL is great!

Anyway, I personally wanted to him to continue like you mentioned he has done some impressive work for our cricket. But he failed to revamp domestic cricket and that’s the most important part. It seemed like improving domestic cricket wasn’t one of his priorities.

Anyway, I personally wanted to him to continue like you mentioned he has done some impressive work for our cricket. But he failed to revamp domestic cricket and that’s the most important part. It seemed like improving domestic cricket wasn’t one of his priorities.

The PSL is a mediocre league with a mediocre roster of players. It is nothing more than a cheap IPL rip-off. However, we need to understand that it is what it is not because of the incompetence of the PCB and Sethi. The PSL is mediocre because of the constraints that have been imposed on Pakistan cricket and on Pakistan as a country.

The main reason is obviously the fact that players are not willing to play in Pakistan over the course of the whole tournament. As a result, we have to host it in the UAE where the crowd and the pitches are not good enough.

Moreover, because of our cricket season in the UAE runs from Sept-Feb and since it is too hot there in the summer, the only feasible window is Feb-Mar, and quite a few players back out because they do not want to get burned out before the all-important IPL.

Considering the handicap that PCB has and the constraints within it has to work, Najam Sethi could not have done a better job with the PSL. The PCB had plans for ripping IPL off since the early 2010s, but they couldn't materialize it until Sethi took the reigns and set the wheel rolling.

He deserves full credit for it and it is a shame that people are not giving him his due credit because of his political orientation.

What are the fitness and overall cricketing standard of the domestic system? What is Pakistan's cricketing schedule like? Does it massive gaps and long layoffs?

Sssh it's not his job. His job is taking pcb's money for his personal holidays. Only PSL is his job nothing else and yeah acting like a clown is another expertise.
