Has been consistent in the LO formats . Seems to have the skill sets for test cricket as well. Considering we have to put up with Rahat and Imran Khan in recent tests surely a player who is performing in international cricket and looks threatening deserves a chance.

I would have him in the squad to take on the West Indies.

How about you guys?

Yes, he deserves a place in the squad at the very least. Been the most impressive pacer in this tournament.

Bowls a consistent length, gets movement with the new ball, decent bounce off a good length and seems an intelligent bowler in how he tries to work a batsman out.

I'd have him share the new ball with Amir.

Yes.

Agreed! And to be honest, he has proven me wrong. . I thought he was a decent LOI bowler . . Who is skiddy but not a lot of action on the ball . . He has improved . . His pace is decent. . And has a good reverse swing action . . Still needs to figure out a way to swing/Seam the ball . . But he has done everything to deserve a call up . . And his improvement is testament to his drive!

Good on him!

He has good skill with the ball, can move it.

But he's not pacy. However it shouldn't matter much especially in WI.

If he has fitness for 5 day cricket, bring him in.

Has more pace than Rahat, Imran and Sohail.

More skill, too. Better fitness. Better line and length.

It's a no-brainer.

The only worry for me is the lack of bounce on his good length deliveries and looks like hes improving on hit , not sure how he is getting more bounce from good length but its making him a lot more effective. plus he has improved his avg pace by 2/3 km as well.

How could I forget Imran, who is club level.

I think Hassan s average is around 130kph. But it shouldn't matter if you have skill with the ball.

Absolutely.

He's a work in progress but better than the other choices after Amir.

Nope.

Difficult to tell from these useless PSL speed-guns where they show the pace once or twice in an over but he was bowling high 130s early on, looked to be at least 135 kph on average. Can improve too. Rahat, Imran and Sohail won't.

Why not, he has comfortably outclassed the talented Amir in Limited Overs so far, expect him to do the same in Tests.

Well unfortunately he is the best we got really sad state for Pakistan cricket....

M.Akram a better bowling coach than Azhar mahmood may be..

clearly the second best fast bowler in Pakistan for me

Should be playing all 3 formats now

Yeah he is mediocre, but hopefully he will get better with age. I'd give him a shot. Guys like Imran and Rahat are below average.

Mediocre? He's outperformed golden boy every time they've played together.

Hasan Ali is not an above average bowler by international standards at the moment. The game where he conceded around 100 runs in the ODI is just an example of that. Though he is young and can improve as I have stated above.

Was just one game.

I'm not saying he's a bad fielder but he did have a shocker vs Australia in the field in one of the Odis, he dropped 2 catches I think. Just don't want it to become a regular thing.

Definitely he has earned it, even more so given our dire need of a right armer :asif

A very good right arm fast bowler who knows how to hunt for wickets. Something we desperately need in Tests so the burden is lifted from bowlers like Aamir and Yasir.

Yes.

That pitch map shows immaculate line in a bowler far too short for Test cricket.

He will never get anybody caught in the slips from that length.

1 Aslam.
2 Azhar.
3 Babar.
4 Younis.
5 Saud.
6 Sarfaraz.
7 Shadab.
8 Yamin.
9 Amir.
10 Yasir.
11 Hassan.

This looks a decent test line up.

I wouldn't call him mediocre. He has great variety and hits great lengths consistently. If he could work on his pace and fielding, he would be a great asset to the team.

Hasan will be a better test bowler than Junaid, Sohail, Wahab, Rahat and Imran. Would easily slot in as our second best (or best) bowler across all formats at the moment.

He should be in the test squad. Has a good first class average and he bowls wicket to wicket

Yes, considering what we have... Our bowling stock is at low end of the scale right now...Biggest disappointment was Amir and Yasir last year, two we counted a lot on foreign tours...Both have came down rather than going up the scale...Rest we never had any expectation, so why complain :(

In LOIs his main weapon is varieties, which does not work much in test, change of pace or slow bouncers are not going to fetch you wickets in test, you have to really bowl good balls to get the wicket...Since his control is better than others(Rahat, Junaid, Sohail, Imran), he can be tried, but I will not hold my breath

Pakistan really need that 145 clicks bowler at younger age like 20-23, not just one but 2/3, that's what I was hoping from PSL, but all we are getting millions of young spinners, they are kind of ok, but cricket is not going anywhere till we get 145 clicks pacer and 145 SR batters who can play that pace, that kind of product can make cricket great again...So far I only hears crickets in my ears after an appalling last year and dismal PSL2 :((

He should be in the test team for next test series, the bowling attack should be.

1. Amir
2. Hassan Ali
3. Mir Hamza
4. Yasir Shah
5. Shadab Khan

????

This is a t20 bowling map.

I think he's a good LOI bowler definitely. Not really sold on right now for him being a Test bowler. However, we really are short of bowling options and he's definitely not worse than Rahat/Imran. Should be given a chance in the Test matches in the Windies. Let's see what he's made of.

More than Hassan Ali, I would be more inclined on picking someone like Mohammed Irfan Jr. This guy offers something different due to his height and will be a handful on WI wickets where there is plenty of uneven bounce.

I would go with the following attack in test matches

1. M. Amir
2. W. Riaz
3. Y. Shah
4. M. Irfan Jr.

What different does he offer? A sohail tanvir like action and gentle 129-133kph pace. He has nothing to show apart from his height. If he increases his pace to 140+ he can become really good.

Got spanked today by Malik and Bopara. Same with Amir against Afridi and Sammy. Hopefully they recover well in the big matches.

Good bowler and now showed his hitting prowess.

I would defintely pick him. We need guys who can bat to shorten our tail. And he is a pretty decent bowler too. Needs to increase his pace a little.

But it shows he can stick to a line and length. That's what he wanted to bowl and he executed it brilliantly.

Averages 23.5 in FC.

If only he was a yard faster or two inches taller.

not sure what you're implying.. you can say that about pretty much any fast bowler in the world 'if they were a little faster or taller.. or swung the ball more or were more accurate'

Hasan Ali is a top performer in PSL, has been Pakistan's best fast ODI bowler in the last year and absolutely deserves a test call up

His action is very similar to Dale Steyn. If only he was taller.

He still could be a decent third bowler/bowling allrounder in tests. He has potential but now it's on him to do something with it. He can be a better bat than Wahab if he works on it alongside Arthur.

i agree that he bowled well, took a 5fer. Mine was just an opinion.

great signature post though :)))

Actually he is about 8 inches too short for modern Test cricket on grassless tracks.

We have already seen that whereas Amir coped against a better Aussie batting line-up seven years ago, Amir is at least five inches too short for modern Test cricket.

Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Irfan and Ehsan Adil are the only Pakistani bowlers tall enough for modern Test cricket.

Which means that Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali are going to have to work really hard on their batting and seek to be Pakistan's third and fourth quick bowlers batting at 7 and 8.
