Hasan Ali : The Test Bowler

The fact he's even made it this far with his height says a lot about him by the way. He would have been told multiple times at youth level that he was too short to be a fast bowler...yet here he is at the highest level.

You'd be unwise to bet against men like these. Talent and sheer determination can yet override his genetics.

Really good first Test match for him. Let's see how does in the coming Test matches.

I still have question over his test future due t his height, hope will not be another Bhatti. But do admire his determination and hard work and looks like he is determined to prove many, including myself, wrong.

Thought he was superb with the older ball throughout the Test.

The way he reverses the ball was a joy to watch. He can give some tips to Amir and Wahab too.

Abbas and Hasan were the pick of the pacers bowler in the Test.

LOL at hasan giving bowling tips to M Amir

I like the fact he runs hard and try to bowl fast, Amir has not done that at all in last year. You cannot be a fast bowler without running hard, in past Amir was intense and running hard, not any more, he is not fit enough to play test in my opinion... Hasan also bowls well with old ball, was focused on reverse swing and got some wickets on it...I hope he can keep himself fit enough to play in all three formats...

The way Hasan and Abbas reversed the ball, I haven't seen any of the pacers do that over the past 12 months. Wahab and Sohail do manage to get some reverse but it wasn't as late and sharp as Abbas and Hasan did in this series.

Good first outing.

You dont select fast bowlers for a tour of australia only which cames once every 7 years for pakistanis.

Good first match for hassan , impressed everyone.

Did very well considering it was his first match.

Look he's never going to be 150kph so forget that but he has the ability to bowl wicket-taking deliveries.

Reverse swung the ball beautifully also.

Adding 5-7ph would make him the real deal.

Saw in him the raw ingredients of Waqar, the way he would change his action to get reverse.

I have talked with some his club cricket mates of Gujranwala and they say His attitude is great. Humble, Hardworking passionate pacer.

Such a student would flourish under Waqar or Shoaib.

Good attitude and passion for the game, can go far, and can only be a positive influence on the team with his energy.

Abbas amir and hasan should be locked for a few series now.
I can see hafeez being the all rounder in the top 6 which is fine. If hasan can reverse it like that then he has to play as part of 5 man attack.
Him Yasir and amir are good enough to contribute with the bat. Whilst none are quite there to being a modern day number 8, they all have it in them. I guess at the moment in those 3 we have 3 number 9s which is OK and something to work on

The problem with this pace attack is going to be the UAE, I can see all 3 struggling big time there. We seriously need to find another venue for our home series. I hope they prove me wrong.

I kind of hate cricket in UAE , yes we have won a lot there but UAE pitches have affected our batting adversely. Our batsmen are too keen on playing waiting games now , good pitches or bad we continue the same merry way.

On these dead tracks its better to play 3 spinners. Rotate 1 pacer for the 3 tests. There is really nothing for a pacer on these wickets.

Early days. UAE is certainly worst place for cricket. No crowd, poor pitches and boring cricket. Pakistan was much better, had something for all except on flat roads.

there are barely any crowds everywhere except australia and england, test matches are dying a very painful slow death mate

Good bowling from Hasan on a dead track, he didn't even get to utilize the old ball like Abbas did, but still did well.

Actually third new ball was due in four overs and Sarfraz was saving Amir and Hasan to clean up the tail.

But Abbas did it with the old ball. :waqar

Only problem is down the road, he will have to leave one format.

I hope it’s not Test cricket.

If you have that ability to bowl wicket-taking deliveries and also have good control then you will always take wickets in any format.

Remember a few Indians questioning Hasan as a Test bowler in that Bumrah v Hasan thread. Hope you have your answer now. Hasan is a conventional seamer that will be successful whatever format he plays. Absolute pleasure to watch him bowl.

For some reason his lack of height does not hamper him continuously gets lift of the pitch regularly more then Amir

We are so lucky and blessed to have one of the best ( probably the second best talented bowler) in the world in our ranks. Hassan Ali is just superb.

I am not a bio-mechanics guy but his action is so beautiful to watch. Absolutely shocking that rahat played ahead of him. He is a genuine wicket taker and the passion he brings is great

Hope he keeps up the performance consistently but because we play little to no test cricket. I fear he gets injured to often which may curtail his test career.

He was being rested calm down rotation policy to keep the pacers fresh.

Great performance once again.

We really need to manage his workload (even more so than Amir's) since he gets injured so frequently. I hope we can rest him for the Zimbabwe tour.

A deadly bowler when he's in the mood.
Oh, wait a second he's always in the mood!
:hasan

One thing to note is that whilst he may be the class comedian at times away from the ground, this guy is an intelligent bowler, he knows what he is doing with the ball.

Excellent bowler, someone who will take the wicket out of the equation due to his variances, lift he gets, excellent seam position, and never say die approach.

Pakistan is blessed to have Abbass and Hasan, now we need either Amir to stepup or bring in someone who is a out and out quick bowler but his name does not rhyme with Swaab!

Is Hasan Ali ready for Test cricket?

Not sure how many first class games he has played but based on my observations, he does lose steam after 1-2 spells and his pace drops. He is a primary culprit in the fact that our bowlers were lackluster in the second test. He released the pressure in the first test as well where he looked lackluster in the second innings.

I believe his body is not yet ready for the rigours of test cricket and that he hasn't played sufficient first class games back home either. Someone like Wahab is much stronger and can bowl at consistent speeds for a good day.

Stop being impatient with this side for God’s sake majority of them have played less then a dozen tests.

You know what Shoaib Akhtar averaged after 16 test 46 yes almost Sami l’esque.it takes time for youngsters to get consistent in test cricket Hassan is young has the skill set back him he will come good inshallah

Struggled in the 2nd game, but nobody is going to be perfect in every match. Hasan also missed out on stat-padding against Ireland.

As of now he seems like a better LOI bowler, but he will improve in all formats imo.
