Hasan Mohsin - A star in the making?

Lol I remember post the Sri Lanka match during the interview he was like "in the end I won" I died right there. At least he is confident.
 
An U19 kid, one of the top performers of the WC, was left out of the Pakistan one day cup, everyone went crazy over the social media and a few voices in the cricket circles as well. 24 hours later, there's a rule change and that kid is now a part of the Sindh's squad. Fair enough but that again makes me wonder why not Sadaf Hussain despite all the voices for him over social media and also by no. of ex cricketers in last 2, 3 years? And mind you, they don't even need to change the rules for him. All they need to do is to pick him for being the best domestic performer in last 3 years.
 
Guys, Hasan Mohsin took up bowling literally less than than a year before the U-19 WC. Give him a break.
 
Hasan has a very good cricketing brain with decent ability and is a competitor. There are many flaws in his batting and he has to get stronger. Long way to go before he becomes international class.

Zeeshan and Umair have more upside than anyone on that team.

And the most natural striker was Gauhar Hafeez. He is very raw though.
 
As someone else said, he's a bit like Anwar Ali .

So if you're a fan of Anwar Ali's batting, sure you can keep your hopes from this guy as well. No one's stopping you.

I haven't seen other u19 guys so not sure who's better. Anyways good luck to him, he has earned his spot but don't think he can survive. Or he might like Anwar.
 
He started fast bowling 6-7 months ago, switching from spin. So he will be undercooked. Still, it's good for his development. But hopefully he's been working on his bowling even more since the world cup.

What about the keeper from U19? Umair Masood, was it? Did he get selected.

He will be our Quinton de Kock :amla

But we need to expose him to higher level cricket first :mv

I don't know man.. batting looks very circumstantial, the way he is moving across his stumps like that.

If he was an English, SAF or Aus player, I would've backed him to improve and become a true allrounder, improving in batting and/or bowling.

However in our domestic circuit I fear he will remain a bits and pieces player like Anwar Ali. Na idhar ka na udhar ka.

But he looks a hardworker so let's see..

ppl need to keep in mind that is just 18 years, these player's game ll improve with time atleast they are under radar already, lets see where they go in future

bahi shb , I have watched the whole match live . I dont think he is the real deal ,its simple as that . Action tells a lot about a bowler . His action limits him from generating full arm flow and thus pace . His batting is just cross batted slogs ,so nothing special actually . If u think otherwise then fine but stop making wacky assumptions about me .

Bats like a pakistani and bowls like an indian.

Main qualities to me appear to be passion and desire. If he can add hard work to that then he can have adecent FC career.

Not going to be international class.

Some people just like to whine, complain & look for drama/controversy. Fortunately most them are out of the way on Pakistani TV channels & other media outlets - however, unfortunately we do have a few of them on this forum :misbah

Best way to describe him.

Unfortunately won't amount to much if he bowls at 115-120kph and while batting plants his foot across the off-stump to hit everything in the midwicket to long-on region.
 
Any videos? Can he hit big, i mean can he muscle sixes?

I just watched the video , looks like a decent prospect but need to work hard to be international material.
But by the looks of it we have found next hype machine as on social media he is used a next coming of Afridi.
 
An average player who is not a future of Pakistan Cricket team.

He can be a poor man's Hammad Azam or Anwar Ali for Pakistan no matter how much he improves his physique.

Look at the number of tough matches from tough situations Hammad Azam won for Pakistan. He was much much more impressive than Hassan Mohsin in worldcup but where is he today ? When he runs in to bowl it looks as if a 50 years old person is bowling.


Some Amateur views have hyped Hassan Mohsin to heavens when he is a average U-19 cricketer. He is neither a pure batsman by his style of play, range or technique and look at his speed and incomplete bowling action. Ganguly and Younis Khan could also swing the ball like Hasan Mohsin.
 
I have seen Hasan Mohsin play and he didn't strike me as a potential world class player.He didn't look like someone who has a proper technique or reach or range of strokes.About his bowling; well lets wait because he has taken fast bowling just last summer.

Although,he is quite good at reading the game situations and bats accordingly.Also,what I have heard is he has a good work ethic.

I reckon he won't be particularly comfortable playing the fast bowlers bowling around or more than 140 because the way he plants his front foot and doesn't play with a straight bat most of the time.

Umair Masood has got a more rounded game than Hasan and I am really disappointed with his non selection in Pakistan Cup.He to me is a much better batsman than Hasan and Pakistan need a dynamic WK Batsman in the limited overs.

Gauhar Hafeez seemed like a boy amongst men when compared with Saif, Zeeshan and Umair. Even Hasan is a better batsman than Gauhar.

Might wanna check who Gauhar is related to, would explain how he got into the side and also became the captain of it.

I only seen him play against England and he hit a couple of good shots early on but then go out in Umar Akmal fashion

Btw who is he related to?
 
I love how the armchair experts here have labeled him a legside hack after watching one innings. First of all, he was playing on a slow wicket on which the bowlers were bowling wicket to wicket. Secondly, he was playing proper cricketing shots on the legside, not slogging blindly. People really need to understand the context of the game and not write off players after one innings, without understanding the pitch conditions and match situation. Comments like "he will not make it even at the FC level" are really poor. Inzi bhai should step down and make some of you the chief selector, so you can write off a potentially good talent for Pakistan after one misinterpreted innings.

Firstly the bowling is absolute club level at best. Its just disgusting.

He has a very Fawadesque stride.

Has he played on non SC tracks? Whats his average if he has?

He needs at least 2 seasons of FC cricket before he can even be considered for selection. Umar Amin project is the reason and that was a fail.
 
Can't write off an 18 year old. Check out the techniques of Shehzad and Akmal in their u19 days and their techniques now, you will find a marked difference.

His only saving grace is that he has time. But given this is a Pakistani player, he may get lazy and then just be satisfied with where he is atm for the next 5 years.

But he looks like a hard worker so I'm willing to give him a chance.

However him playing in the Pakistan cup is very pre mature. Should've given Umair Masood a chance instead of one of the hacks like Latif or Manzoor which Sarfraz and Sindh selected.

That's the problem with Pak domestic tournaments, PSL or whatever. We never get rid of these hacks because all these captains/coaches go for experience/companionship.

Now yet again these TTF's will get all the games and a younger guy will watch the game from the balcony or bench in Pak's case.

U-19 players were only to be picked by their region.

Umair Masood falls in the Federal region, who decided to pick Arsal Sheikh and Shadab Khan.
 
Well I haven't seen him play and I'm not going to judge him off highlights. The comments seem mixed on here. All I will say judging from the comments is that he will need to work hard at his game and to work with a good coach. Can remember one of Waqurs recommendations being get younger players in the best academies. So that's what should be done for this Mohsin.

Don't have a problem with Shadab being picked he's a promising bowling allrounder, picked up crucial wickets in the tournament but Arsal Sheikh being there is such a disgrace

Both Umair Masood and Zeeshan Malik deserved to be there

Lol everyone is mad that Arsal got picked. He shouldn't have gone to the U-19 WC and shouldn't have been in the draft in the first place.

With Inzi as chief selector, I doubt we'll see Arsal being picked again for any tourney.
 
Make him the coach(don't take it literally). This guy can teach our fast bowlers a thing or two about conventional swing bowling. Most of our bowlers have terrible seam positions with no idea how to swing it.

That the transition from leg-spin to pace bowling was a bad one because he will never be tall enough to make the grade.

He's an allrounder, can contribute with the bat.
 
I think he will prove to be a good T20 batsman. He is a good improviser. Though his bowling isn't good for T20's.

What is a good height for a fast bowler, in your opinion? Would 6'0 with 135 KPH pace on a young guy be good?
 
Hasan Mohsin must be given chance in NZ tour for ODIs.

For upcoming ODI Series in NZ, PCB should select at least 2-3 out of these youngsters Saad Ali, Hasan Mohsin, Mir Hamza, Tabish Khan, Sadaf Hussain & Sohail Khan
 
Scored 55 off 36 today batting at 6 and also took 1-30 from 5 overs as he played an important role in helping Pakistan TV beat KRL
 
Hasan Mohsin saw a dream in 2010 that he may live this season. “I saw a dream in 2010 where Shahid Bhai was the captain of our team and I was fielding with him during a game played at the National Stadium Karachi. I told it to my father and he replied ‘one day you will live this dream,’ and now I think that dream may become a reality very soon.”

Hasan has shared the dressing room with some of the biggest names of cricket fraternity in the previous season of PSL, but this time his excitement is at another level as he is going to play alongside Shahid Afridi. “I was eager in the previous season as there were some big players in our side, but I am extremely excited this time to share the dressing room with one player and that is Shahid Afridi. I have not played with him before.”

The young all-rounder is seeing Pakistan Super League as a launching pad for a glorious career. He is a part of Karachi Kings’ squad for the second time, in the last season he could not make his debut. The youngster is hoping to get a chance this time around and he is determined to make it count. “I have high expectations from myself, if I get a chance, I will perform well for my team in both batting as well as in bowling,” he told. “It is also advantageous for me as Karachi Kings’ coach is Mickey Arthur, who is also the coach of our national team so it is a big opportunity for me to impress him.”

Hasan Mohsin started playing cricket in streets. His family did not want him to proceed the sport as his career, rather they wanted him to focus on education. But, he had got his fathers support, whom he urged to get him admitted to a cricket academy in 2008, who took him to AO Academy. “My father always wanted me to become a cricketer, he used to even shout at me when I could not perform, he has supported me a lot.” After playing two years there, he moved Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA). He kept playing for the academy and joined Mughal Cricket Club of Zone 3 after some time. He played a year in that zone and then moved to Pakistan Cricket Club of Zone 6, where he got selected for district U-19 and region. With the courtesy of his impressive run in regional cricket, he earned a call from Pakistan U-19 side.

He was impressive during the U-19 World Cup 2016, who emerged as the highest wicket-taker as well as the top run-getter for Pakistan in the tournament. As per Hasan, the days after his campaign with the U-19 team were challenging for them as he found it tough to cement a place in First Class cricket. “I learned a lot after U-19 World Cup,” told Hasan. “I had a successful U-19 World Cup campaign as an all-rounder, I played Grade II cricket from PTV, it was tough, it had a higher standard of cricket.There were big names and First Class players, but as I kept playing, I improved my skill level to match the standard of cricket there.”

Later, he returned to RLCA. The 20-year old shared the dressing room with all the big names of Karachi Kings during PSL 2017. As per the budding all-rounder, he learned much more than just cricket during the tournament. “All players were helpful, I learned a lot of things about life,” he stated. “We had Kumar Sangakkara as our captain, there was Kieron Pollard, Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik and other big names who taught me a lot.”

Hasan has played under Imad Wasim’s captaincy in Pakistan Cup and he had a pleasant experience playing with him.Like other players of Karachi Kings, he also rated Imad as an aggressive and understanding skipper. “Imad Bhai is a young captain, I have a good understanding with him as I have played Pakistan Cup with him, he backs his young players and teaches a lot about different aspects of the game, it will be fun to play under his leadership.”

The young all-rounder admires Shoaib Malik as a batsman, but as an all-rounder, he wants to become as sensational as Abdur Razzaq. He met his idol in the last season of the league, who was there with Quetta Gladiators as a part of their coaching staff. “I asked a lot of things from Razzaq Bhai during practice sessions, he knows me well, he gave me some precious tips about bowling, batting and especially power-hitting.”

The youngster has a message for cricketers like him in the country to keep working hard and does not get disheartened. “Keep working hard and have believed in yourself, self-belief is key. Have faith in God and give your 100 percent,” he said.

He asked Karachi Kings fans for keep supporting the team and also thanked them for the way they have cheered for them in the first two seasons of PSL. “Keep supporting us as you have done it in the last two seasons, we need your prayers and even more support this time,” he concluded.

Came in with his side at 60-5 and his 59 helped PTV get to 154.

Has taken one wicket so far.

Rightly made Captain of Ptv by Mohammad Waseem and Dr Nauman Niaz.

Prediction :

Soon Hasan Mohsin will be batting at number 6 for Pakistan in Odi Cricket (InshaAllah).


His biggest assett is sensible head over his shoulders unlike more talented and skilled Umar Akmal.

Stay grounded. Time to develop muscles.
 
Hasan Mohsin currently batting on 103 (70 ball, 13 fours and 3 sixes) against Islamabad, in Quaid e Azam cup.
 
He's improving. He can be a very good Middle-order batsman for Pakistan + He can bowl.
 
Maybe it's a bit early, but I wouldn't mind bringing him in for Asif Ali in ODIs. Need to think long-term, Asif Ali is not going to last in ODIs.

Very impressive, he's improvising not premeditating.
He's been handed captaincy so early which should mean he has a good head on his shoulders
 
Is it me or, with the ropes brought in, the boundaries look extremely small.
50-60 meters at most?

Great at innovating and manoeuvring the ball. Smart batsman.
 
I will have to revisit my thoughts on him. Looks pretty good. And lesson learnt by me. Never judge a player without having seen him play recently.
