Amla averages 50 in ODIs and 47 in tests while Taylor averages 46 in ODIs and tests both. 3 years ago, Amla would have won by a fair margin but I think it is close now.
In the last few years, Taylor had late resurgence and has played some fantastic innings in both the formats. To name a few, 290 at Perth against Australia, the hundred vs England this year in ODI and quite a few more.
