Looking at the recent Champions Cup, a domestic tournament and crowds/fans are cheering Babar and Co?

These guys have lost pretty much all major assignments since 2023. So have Pakistan fans gone softer by celebrating there stats and not asking them tough questions about the recent losses?

Pretty much entire PP is asking questions from Pakistani team, but you can't expect locals to not cheers for players in stadium.

What do you want. Local folks from faisalabad who haven't seen live cricket for ages to boo all the players and not celebrate at all??

It's a positive sign that there is still interest in cricket not a negative thing.
+1

Their confidence was shattered into pieces in T20WC. They do not seem to have recovered from that humiliation yet.
Now BD came and danced in those pieces and made it a powder by whitewashing them in Test series.

It’s not easy to have any faith in the team after the above 2 fiascos. They need a victory against a top team like Aus or England to build up faith again.

Think it's more a case of the critical/realistic fans all packing up shop and moving onto other hobbies.

Blind faith + lack of education/world view = ignorance is bliss.

We have big hearts and don't like noise

Babar is being cheered for because people want him to do well and he is playing good cricket. They are true fans of him supporting him no matter what, They think that it is a bad patch for Babar so they are supporting him.

Nothing wrong with that.

I agree with the general sentiment of this thread. I do think Pakistan fans have gone soft. I see very little challenge to some of the outrageous put down of past pakistani players.

However, on the topic of fans cheering for Babar and Co. I'm not sure how much of that is genuine? Are there paid actors? It could be genuine, but I have a sneaky suspicion that there is a mix.

On social media, there are an inordinate amount of accounts posting very pro-babar content (as well as Rizwan) to the point of being nauseating. We are supposed to believe that Babar's "stardom" has surpassed Shahid Afridi's and every other pakistani player that has ever lived. It seems very forced and probably propagated by the players' agents.

The fans at the ground. I don't know - when you're there you have to enjoy yourself. I remember in 2006, I went to an Eng v Pak ODI Match. Despite the fact that I knew they were mediocre and I actually didn't rate them at all as bowlers, we were cheering and egging on the likes of Abdul Razzaq and Iftikhar Rao when they were bowling!

I don't believe there is any connection between fans attending games to cheer for players and fans being lenient about performance. These are domestic matches, and fans typically have a completely different mindset compared to international games.

Once the international series starts you will see a return to fans calling for the players heads etc.
