"Heard that Amla & Clarke are going to be part of the World XI that will tour Pak" : Shahryar Khan

A pair of former Test captains mentioned as Pakistan Cricket Board look to lock in three-match T20 series

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke and Proteas batting superstar Hashim Amla are among the names who could feature in a World XI side set to visit Pakistan in September.

While the Pakistan Cricket Board is still awaiting official security clearance from the Punjab government for the tour to go ahead, the proposal involves a three-match T20 series against the Pakistan national team, which would be recognised as full internationals by the ICC.

"Andy Flower will be the coach of the touring World XI side," PCB chairman Shahryar Khan said on Pakistan television, before adding he had "heard that Hashim Amla, Michael Clarke, along with New Zealander Luke Ronchi and Australian Tim Paine, are going to be part of the team".

Only a 2015 tour by Zimbabwe, which included three ODIs and two T20Is, has broken a run of more than eight years without international cricket in Pakistan, since a Sri Lanka team bus was attacked by gunmen in Lahore.

However, a successful staging of the Pakistan Super League final at the Gaddafi Stadium in the same city in March this year led to the head of the ICC's Pakistan task team Giles Clarke to conceiving of the idea of a World XI tour, which has since gathered momentum as the PCB look to encourage the return of international teams to their war-torn country.

"I have spoken to (the government) but I'm waiting for a final word," said Khan, "which I am hopeful to receiving in time so that we can make all (required) arrangements for the tour."

The acquisitions of Clarke and Amla would be two significant drawcards to the tour, with both players boasting glittering international record.

Clarke led defending World Cup champions Australia to that title in 2015, before bowing out of Test cricket later the same year with more than 8,000 runs to his name in the five-day format, while Amla remains one of the world's preeminent batsmen, ranked in the top 10 in both Test and ODI cricket.

The proposed tour would run from September 12-19.

Right now, the situation is something like this.
PCB and ICC both are ready to hold matches... and to my knowledge WORLD X1 has also been selected... The only thing PCB is waiting for, is the security clearance from PUNJAB GOVT... PCB has written to them TWICE, but haven't got any response..... and if NAWAZ is ousted, then it looks impossible that PUNJAB GOVT will guve clearance for the tour..."""
and what i know is that most likely there will be two indian players possibly BHAJJI and one of the PATHAN brothers.... This isn't any official news or any report but this is something I know to the best of my knowledge....

highly doubt Clarke will go. Aussies are extra cautious when it comes to stuff like this.

n Amla maybe but wouldnt hold my breath on it doubt CSA would give him security clearance to go.

This guy is so incompetent. He is old so I don't want to say further bad things but he should learn to keep his mouth close.

Why does he have to always speculate and thrown names around in the media? No other board chairman does this

Isn't he aware what damage this does to his and pakistans reputation

think clarke just tweeted that its news to him as well

Shehryar saab is one of the most undiplomatic diplomats I've ever seen.

The man is past his prime and an old mong, lets not judge him for all the negative stuff because he has done a lot of good overall

Why does pcb bosses keep saying this?

1) BD will tour us - BCB denied
2) Lanka may tour us - SLC said they have not even talked

Now this.

"Heard that" - coming from a guy who is the chairman of a cricket board folks. Shambolic lol.

SK should have stayed silent till the tour is actually confirmed and the players have actually agreed. Seems as though Michael Clarke hasn't agreed to anything. Would love to know what Amla's opnion is on this.

LOLL! This guy is an embarrassment. He needs to go ahead and retire.

Lol,I look forward to SK's statements, its like one of those comic strips that comes only on weekends.

Sheryar reminds me of those uncles and aunties who used to lie to you all the time when you were little and made you believe stuff that wasn't real <_<

Retire him already. What an absolute embarrassment. I thought he was the sensible one.

After Ijaz Butt's heard it through the grapevine involving match fixing bookies, I really wouldn't go by what PCB chairmans say they've heard

What kind of diplomat was Shehryar Khan, exactly?

You know when SK says something that the opposite is most likely the truth.

Waiting for a refutal of the claim to come from Amla and Clarke, this guy is slowly heading into Ijaz Butt territory, only a while before he says something like Ijaz butt which will cost him his position, I feel this man has suffered a severe mental trauma from rejection of the Pk vs India bilateral series, the way this man has been desperate to get the series through, you'd think he would have to pay for the losses from his own pocket if the MoU didnot stand valid..

See above, denial from Clarke has arrived. :mc

Now Clark and Alma will deny this , more embarrassment for SYK and Pakistan cricket. Can SYK not resist himself from such pre mature statement. When is he leaving ?

Don't forget he is (at least) 83 years old- it's probably best to judge him on his overall record rather than his recent throwaway comments.
