I am a right arm spinner who has never played organized cricket before.I occasionally bowl in nets and what I bowl is my stock delivery which is perfectly legal but just unrecognizable.

Basically when I release the ball ,it comes out as a delivery identical to offspin (seam towards legslip) but it is spinning opposite to offspin.
Conventional offspin has a component of topspin with side spin towards legside, this delivery has a component of backspin with side spin towards offside.Hence this delivery ends up as legbreak/doosra.

Now tell me,what potential does it have seeing it has backspin-never topspin. How can I use it ?
Kiri read into this and please don`t advise me to become a 'good ol` leggie'. I am what I am.
Thivagar you also have another look at this and I remember you mentioning that Senanyake had copied my stock ball. Can you name the youtube video title and poster ?

I think this all depends on how you release the ball. You say your grip is identical to an offspinner so it comes down to your action. The release in your action has probably caused your deliveries to produce more back spin.

How can you use it? Well before I answer that, answer this. Will this delivery be successful? If you can pitch it round about offstump on a good length all the time then I see why not. I think you're bowling with an action that's keeping you from producing more side spin. Still, you can deceive batsman by getting them on the backfoot.

And no,there is enough side spin on it.

No,the backspin is due to the fact that I can naturally find it far easier to rip my fingers opposite to the direction of off break.

This is how coaches look at potential in a good spinner
1. The ability to turn big
The more you turn, greater the angle the angle of turn is and lesser the time a batsman gets to play a shot.
2. The ability to vary flight(varying flight does also alters your speed a bit)
Very important, spinners beat batsmen in the air first and then with the turn. Some batsmen will just know where the ball will
land no matter what, they could just predict. You can alter your flight by putting in little to maximum top spin. The more
the topspin is lesser the ball will turn but quicker the ball will dip and bounce.
3. The ability to change speed
Pretty basic, exactly what it says.
4. Variations
The more the variation you have, better it is but you must have the basic 3-4 variations well developed.
5. Accuracy.
Probably the hardest thing to master for a spin bowler, wrist spinning is harder than off/left arm spinning however it is still
hard to master especially with all the variations. If a good coach sees 1 to 4 mentioned above, especially 1 to 3, he'll make you
practice after practice and you will master accuracy within a year.

Someone once said that "Graveyard is the greatest place on earth because that is where lots of dreams, talent and inventions are. People are afraid to fail, afraid to face consequences of facing their dream so they take their dreams to their grave". You have a pitch that is all year along, find a coach and see what he thinks you can do with your talent. Some times you just need that little midas touch to excel. I forgot what delivery we are talking about, but have you ever bowled that delivery on a smooth surface ? does it still turn or does it go straight on ?
