Hero climbs up outside of Paris building to save child dangling from balcony

A man has been filmed climbing a Paris building to save a four-year-old dangling from a balcony.

Video shows the man's heroic actions as he scaled four floors in the space of just a few seconds at around 8pm on Saturday.

The man, whose identity is not known, clambered up the front of a building on rue Marx Dormoy in the 18th arrondissement of the French capital to help a child suspended in mid-air, according to Le Parisien.

Footage posted on social media shows a transfixed crowd gathered beneath the scene cheering and whooping as the man riskd his life to rescue the child.

Video of the episode has been viewed more than two million times on social media.

Firefighters were called to the incident and attended to both the child and rescuer, who were both suffering from shock.

The young man is said to have suffered scratches from scaling the building.

According to Le Parisien, first testimonies indicate the child was unattended and had ventured onto the balcony before getting stuck on the rail.

Brief Translation: He will be awarded french citizenship and job as a fire fighter.

An Australian news reader claims is was wrong to give him citizenship as this will encourage others to risk their lives to get citizenship.

Took a brother to be a hero while the rest were just watching and cheering... Just saying

This is a good point. Never know someone may get an idea to risk the life of a kid to repeat something like this, just to become an instant hero.

I never thought of this, you might well get immigrant families in visa pacts where they agree to dangle kids over a balcony in order to be rescued and voila...citizenship!

Looks staged. How could a child hold on for so long. Also why didn't the other people in the latter part of the video not pull up the baby and wait for this "Hero" to come to the rescue.

The child was stuck on the rail and wasnt holding on. There was a partition between the two apartments, so the other people couldn't reach over.

Well done to this chap, although he didn't risk his life but still an act of heroism.
