High body fat amongst our current players

I really hope this was an attempt at being funny. However, I'm holding against hope as the lower belly bulge in quite evident in a lot of our players.

Kohli setting the standard of fitness for cricketers. The guy runs 2s in the second innings like its a joke.

On the other hand, it looked like Imam would pass out when he had played 50 balls. I am all up for supporting PCT and Babar but there is no way one can defend the pathetic fitness standards of PCT.

Your body fat percentage varies on levels of testosterone. Some people will have a higher body fat percentage no matter how hard they work out because of naturally lower testosterone levels.

I suspect that someone like Babar might have slightly lower levels of testosterone because he is very skiing with small amounts of muscle yet still had a tiny belly.
It’s not only that, south Asians tend to have the skinny fat body type quite a bit. Comes down to diet but also genetics in general. Remember reading somewhere that this body type survives through famine. Most of the jacked and stacked south Asian ancestors may have died out. Not sure how credible that is though lol.

You will retain this body type if you have it unless you are serious about training in terms of lifting, cardio, and eating enough protein. The SENA + Indian teams are on point regarding all of the above.

We don’t have any philosophy on training for peak fitness or diet for peak fitness. Every other top team does, including 3rd world India. So there’s no excuse.

Testosterone does play a part, but if you’re in your mid 20s, active, and your bio markers are generally solid, there’s no reason you should have low test unless you have a condition. Doubt the entire team has a condition.

Muscular? he is more charbiular because of excessive fat.

But he is doing really well with the bat so we can ignore his weight concern because most fittest players are not performing with their V shapes body.
I thought he was just joking and was not serious when he made Azam Khan, out of all players, the most muscular sportsman in Pakistan, it was hilarious , I enjoyed it.

Agreed on this.

I am tired of this argument that Sarfraz runs quick between wickets. Well, he can run even quicker if he is willing to lose some kilos of weight.

Dont get me started on Azam Khan. People actually dont realize that while going to the gym and playing cricket so regularly, the guy is munching on easily above 5000-6000 calories on a consistent basis to maintain that level of bodyfat. Any person who knows a thing or two about nutrition can see that Azam Khan must have a RIDICULOUSLY bad diet to maintain this level of body fat despite being a cricketer.

Heck you cant even maintain this level of body fat while having KFC 3 times a week. I am genuinely curious to find out what the guy is eating to consistently be so fat. Maybe he is downing jugs of oil, thats the only explanation I can think of.
I have it on good authority that Azam Khan cannot go a day without eating pasta. I have this info first hand. Pasta is high carb. And he eats loads of it. And thats just one of his many favorite food items. That guy EATS.

As I said in another post on this thread, South Asians tend to carry more a higher body fat percentage even if they are skinny like Babar Azim, Kuldeep Yadav. Of course, it is going to be everyone but this is the trend. No matter how much you work out, if your testosterone levels are that of an 80 year old man in your 20s and 30s, you will retain a higher body fat percentage.

Why do you think our cricketers from KPK are generally much more fit compared to cricketers from Punjab and Karachi despite having similar lifestyles/diets? It's because technically they are South Asians but they have been far enough for long enough that they don't share the exact same genetics.

Virat Kohli sets very high standards of his fitness… don’t think any cricketer have fitness n physique like him.. sharing his one incident which show how Kohli so much concerned about his fitness…

After his marriage, Virat n Anushka went first time to meet Virat’s mothe in Delhi…. Virat is very fond about Delhi food specially Chole -bhature… they ordered chole-bhature from famous vendor…. Virat n Anushka both eaten 5-6 plates of it… after eating it, any other cricketer would have been there, he went to take a nap, but Virat and Anushka both spent that afternoon in Gym and burnt those extra calories… Virat don’t wanted those extra calories to accumulate in his body

I have never read so much rubbish in my whole life. I wanted to respond but I don’t know where to start with this post

Lol exactly. It covered very broad subjects without covering at all because no relevance in the first place!

Imam and Babar have both gained weight in recent years. Once the position in the team is secure, these players let go of their fitness.

Look at Babar he looks Gol now a days. Just compare it with his 2017 physique.

super easy solution, have documented fitness tests, publish them with videos online, monetise, earn some return and if players meet the standards let them eat what they want.

Physical fitness and winning matches are 2 different things… players and teams need special skill to win match… otherwise Netherland and Ireland would be WC winners long back

At the highest level. You also need physical fitness especially when every other team are improving in this area.

If you have knowledge of Pakistan, please say so. No need to paint the entire South Asia with the same brush. South Asia is a much bigger territory (six times the area and Population of Pakistan). South Asia is not equal to Pakistan.

Despite the many glaring reasons for our loss today, one is our inability to take doubles. I counted 2 instances where imad missed a chance to run doubles. Same is the case with ifti.

Except babar, rizwan, shadab and fakhar our entire batting is unable to run quick doubles.

Add to it our inability to cover ground quickly and stop easy doubles when the opposition is batting

Everyone knows Imad has a dodgy knee and it hampers him running b/w the wickets.

Even some Indian players are carrying a small belly this time. Rohit, Dube, Surya, Pant are all chubby.
