A violent religious mob has set fire to a Hindu temple in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region and attempted to tear it to the ground.

Crowds of thousands, reportedly led by Islamic clerics, descended on the Hindu temple in the village of Teri, in Karak district, on Wednesday and began to rip bricks from the walls and set it on fire.

No one was inside the temple at the time. Footage from the scene shows the crowd chanting slogans and cheers greeting the destruction.

Well this is a shame. Especially as Pakistan has been trying to, eventually, treat its Hindu subjects with more respect.

Terrible, but I'm glad no one was harmed. I am surprised there is a mandir in KP to be honest. There certainly is a big issue with minority rights in Pakistan. Wouldn't the blasphemy law which many people on this forum are reticent to condemn cover this? I know it's skewed in favour of Islam, but surely this counts? Not that I support it, of course.

Thoughts on this?

Why would any group attack a minority whose population is less than 1% in kpk? Hindu numbers are not even big enough to threaten anything to the majority population. All of this under Imran Khan’s watch who is very quick to tweet about Islamophobia. What about Hinduphobia, Christophobia and Ahmediphobia?

Christian population is not even .5% in uttar Pradesh but were also attacked by mobs, yeah in pakistan religious conversion to any another religion other islam is banned and minorities are meek and subservient so using indian rightwing logic they should be left alone.

LOL, imagine if the reverse would have happed in India. This thread would have had 4 pages by now. And Imran Khan would have shot at least 4 tweets till now.

Why are the attacks happening on Hindus and Christians in Pakistan? India is no beacon of religious tolerance.

It did happen. And it happened yesterday only. You didnt see the videos of Hindu mobs vandalizing a mosque in India? It has become so normal that no mainstream media channel in India reported it.

One thing I like about india is that while there is majority oppression of minorities, there is also minority representation in crimes against majority. Hopefully it will find a nice equilibrium.

As Muslims, we ought to draw from the conquest of Umar RA. He allowed existing believe to continue and Hinduism, though zealots have become skewed and Pakistanis confused, predates most religions.

Imran Khan has made public his vow to protect minorities, that is great news, and of course video footage of this mob will help to identify the culprits. Let's just hope that Pakistani justice doesn't drag on for years eventually equitting the perpetrators and electing one of the ring leaders to PM of the country and touring the world to rock star welcomes.

Why should you care about what happens in Pakistan? Their country their rules.

Similarly what happens in India is for Indians to decide, pakistanis do try to be begani shaadi mein Abdullah dewana, but they need to be ignored.

Police arrested 14 people in overnight raids after a Hindu shrine was set on fire and severely damaged by a mob led by supporters of a cleric in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Karak district, officials said on Thursday.

The temple’s destruction on Wednesday drew condemnation from human rights activists and the minority Hindu community.

Local police said they detained at least 14 people in overnight raids and more raids were underway to arrest individuals who participated or provoked the mob to demolish the shrine.

The attack happened after members of the Hindu community received permission from local authorities to renovate the building. According to witnesses, the mob was led by a local cleric and supporters of a religious political party.

Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri called the attack “a conspiracy against sectarian harmony”. He took to Twitter on Thursday, saying attacks on places of worship of minority religious groups are not allowed in Islam and “protection of religious freedom of minorities is our religious, constitutional, moral and national responsibility.”

The incident comes weeks after the government allowed Hindu citizens to build a new temple in Islamabad on the recommendation of a council of clerics.

Although Muslims and Hindus generally live peacefully together in Pakistan, there have been other attacks on Hindu places of worship in recent years.

CJP takes notice
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed took notice of the incident and fixed the matter for hearing by on Jan 5, 2021.

According to a statement released by the apex court, Member of the National Assembly and Pakistan Hindu Council chief Ramesh Kumar called on the chief justice at the SC's Karachi registry and discussed the issue.

"The chief justice of Pakistan showed grave concern over the tragic incident and informed the member of parliament that he has already taken cognisance of the issue and has fixed the matter before court on 05.01.2021 at Islamabad with directions to one-man Commission on Minorities Rights, KP chief secretary and KP inspector general of police to visit the site and submit [a] report on 04.01.2021," it stated.

FIR registered
According to police officials, a meeting of clerics was held at Shanki Adda in Teri, Karak before the attack.

The enraged people were raising slogans vowing they would not permit any construction work of the shrine in the area.

The Samadhi (shrine) of Shri Paramhans Ji Maharaj is considered sacred by the Hindu community.

The Hindu devotees, especially from Sindh, used to visit it.

District Police Officer Irfanullah told Dawn that an a first information report (FIR) was registered against two local clerics identified as Maulvi Mohammad Sharif and Maulana Faizullah and several other unidentified persons.

He said that the protesters were peaceful in the initial stage but on the provocation of some clerics, they turned violent and attacked the shrine.

However, the local clerics claimed that the Hindu community had given a contract for the expansion of the shrine to a local contractor which was not acceptable to the people. The speakers in the meeting claimed that they were ready to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court of the country wholeheartedly.

The local people claimed that the Hindu community provided funds for the expansion of the shrine which was in violation of the court’s judgment.

The controversy over the Samadhi of Shri Paramhans Ji Maharaj erupted many decades ago. The Supreme Court had in 2015 ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to restore and reconstruct the Hindu shrine.

The order was issued over a petition of MNA Kumar, who was at that time in PML-N and later joined PTI. He had claimed that the Samadhi of Shri Paramhans Mahraj had been occupied by an influential cleric of the area.

A letter written by the then deputy commissioner of Karak to a deputy secretary of the provincial home department in February 2014, which was submitted to the Supreme Court, had stated that a Hindu shrine was constructed at a place where Shri Paramhans Ji Maharaj died in 1919 and buried in Teri village. His followers used to visit the place to pay their respect and the practice continued till 1997 when some local people dismantled the shrine.

JUI-F district leader among 350 booked for vandalising Hindu temple in Karak

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has arrested more than 31 suspects and registered a case against 350 people for their alleged involvement in the vandalizing of a Hindu temple in Karak district.

Karak DPO Irfanullah said JUI-F district leader Maulana Mirza Aqeem is also nominated in the case. He added that the security officials were conducting raids to detain suspects.

A day earlier, an angry mob attacked and set ablaze the shrine of a Hindu saint in Karak. Video clips going viral on social media show hordes of people breaking and desecrating the site while chanting slogans. Smoke could also be seen emitting from the shrine after it was set on fire.

Earlier today, Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed took suo-motu notice of the incident after a meeting with Pakistan Hindu Council chief patron Dr. Ramesh Kumar. The case will be heard in the apex court on January 5.

The top court has also sought a report from the National Commission of Minorities as well as police chief and chief secretary of the northwestern province by January 4.

Special Assistant to KP CM Mahmood Khan on Information Kamran Bangash said PM Imran Khan and provincial chief executive had condemned the incident. He said the Karak DPO and deputy commissioner have been directed to investigate the matter and submit a report.

Bangash said the provincial government would rebuild the temple, stressing that the culprits will be punished and the rights of minorities protected.

Confirming the arrests, Pakistan Ulema Council chairman Tahir Ashrafi emphasized that it was the State's responsibility to protect the rights of non-Muslims living in the country.

"Pakistan's ulema cannot support any such form of terrorism," he said, adding that no one is allowed to desecrate the sanctities of believers of any religion.

Good on Pakistan to have arrested the perpetrators. The Hindus in Pakistan will be somewhat reassured.

I would have expected the PM IK to tweet or send out a message about this at least as none have done so at all.

Forget the opposition as they're all power hungry and I wouldn't even expect them to do so either but IK should have and still should and reassure the Hindu community that all the restorations of their temples are and will be carried out as they stated and that the government is responsible of safeguarding them everywhere.

@ Topic, Tragic attack but good to see the attackers have been arrested. Hopefully justice is done in courts.

This is absolutely wrong and most Pakistanis barring a very small crazy minority will condemn this. Most Pakistanis do not support attacks against places of worship especially Christian and Hindu ones (Ahamdis/Qadyanis are an exception unfortunately). Even if the main culprits get away with this due to a corrupt system, it doesn't represent how most of the Pakistanis feel about this situation.

Also, we shouldn't compare to India as they are not a standard for us. They are not our teachers.

A good way to placate all parties would be to unearth evidence that the temple was built on grounds that were formerly a mosque, then build a new temple some distance away while using the current site to restore the glory of the Islamic empire with a lovingly built new masjid reflecting the beauty of Mughal architecture. The Hhndu temple could perhaps resemble a space capsule.

Good on the authorities for taking action and rebuilding the temple. But Imran Khan who can take to Twitter to offer condolences on the death of Khadim Rizvi should have put out some kind of statement condemning the attack. Simply arresting is not enough, politicians have a role to play in condemning these kind of hateful, bigoted actions so the chances of them happening again decrease. And the PM being the Chief Executive of the country has the biggest role to play in this regard.

CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa orders reconstruction of Hindu temple vandalised by mob

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan on Friday ordered the immediate reconstruction of the Krishna Dwara temple in Karak.

As per details, the historic Hindu temple was set ablaze on December 30 by hundreds of residents. The temple is located in Karak’s Teri union council.

Addressing a health card distribution ceremony, the CM said provincial government must ensure the construction work is started quickly.

“We will protect the places of worship of minorities,” he vowed.

Several people involved in the crime have been arrested including Maulana Rehmat Salam Khattak, a district leader of JUI-F, confirmed Mahmood Khan. On Thursday 31 people were arrested for setting fire to the temple.

Khattak had served as a provincial general secretary of the PML-N before joining JUI-F.

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad has taken a suo moto notice of the incident and directed the concerned officials to submit report before the court by January 4.

Meanwhile, the KP Police also nominated over 350 people in the first information report (FIR) filed under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The federal ministers have also condemned the attack and vowed to protect minorities in the country.

A Hindu temple in the northwest Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that was destroyed by a Muslim mob earlier this week will be rebuilt using provincial government funds, its information minister said on Friday.

Police have arrested dozens of people, including the local Muslim leader, for their involvement in Wednesday’s attack on the Shri Paramhans Ji Maharaj Samadhi temple in the town of Karak, some 100km (62 miles) southeast of the provincial capital, Peshawar.

“We regret the damage caused by the attack,” said Kamran Bangash, the provincial information minister belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“The chief minister has ordered the reconstruction of the temple and adjoining house,” he told AFP news agency.

About 1,500 people descended on the temple in the remote village after protesting against renovations being made to an adjoining building owned by a Hindu group. They used sledgehammers to knock down walls before setting the building ablaze.

Construction will start as soon as possible with the support of the Hindu community, Bangash said, adding security would be provided at the site.

45 people arrested

District police chief Irfanullah Khan told AFP about 45 people had been arrested in connection with the incident – including a local Muslim leader, mullah Sharif, who is accused of inciting the mob.

Khan added police are also looking for mullah Mirza Aqeem, the district leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), one of Pakistan’s largest Islamic parties.

On Thursday, Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered authorities to submit a report on the temple’s destruction, which drew condemnation from human rights activists and the minority Hindu community.
In Karachi, the capital of Sindh province and where most of the country’s Hindus live, more than 200 people protested outside the Supreme Court, calling for justice.

“You must respect other people’s religion. We are Pakistanis, and for God’s sake, nobody needs to give us a certificate of loyalty”, said Mangla Sharma, a Hindu member of Sindh’s provincial assembly.

The temple, which was destroyed in similar circumstances in 1997, was rebuilt under the direction of the top court in 2015.

Religious freedom violations

While no Hindus live in the area, devotees often visit the temple and its shrine to pay homage to the Hindu saint Shri Paramhans, who died there before the 1947 partition of India that gave birth to Pakistan.

Although Muslims and Hindus generally live peacefully together in Pakistan, there have been other attacks on Hindu temples in recent years.

Last year, the United States placed Pakistan on a list of “countries of particular concern” for religious freedom violations.

The country’s minister for religious affairs, Noorul Haq Qadri, called the attack “a conspiracy against sectarian harmony”.

He took to Twitter on Thursday, saying attacks on places of worship of minority religious groups were forbidden in Islam and “protection of religious freedom of minorities is our religious, constitutional, moral and national responsibility”.

On Wednesday, Pakistan’s human rights minister, Shireen Mazari, said the government had a responsibility to “ensure safety and security of all our citizens and their places of worship”.

Prime Minister Khan has assured Pakistan’s minorities of their safety.

“I want to warn our people that anyone in Pakistan targeting our non-Muslim citizens or their places of worship will be dealt with strictly. Our minorities are equal citizens of this country,” Khan tweeted in February.

Two politicians from the PTI have already condemned the vandalism and pledged to rebuild the temple as a matter of urgency. Perhaps Imran will comment on this as well in the coming days, but his representatives have done a sterling job so far, and for that we must give credit to the leader as well, this shows he is a man of his word.

Something coming from Imran holds much more importance than something coming from his party members. I'm glad all these things were done, shows the provincial government is doing its job. But Imran should have already given a statement condemning the attack.

Good point

The same action wouldn't have happened if it was against Ahmedis imo

Or Immu would have paid the ultimate price...

We are ok with religious minorities as they are not a "threat" in our imagination

But certain sects are always a concern cause they're taking down Islam from within, disguised (moderate Muslims including myself don't look kindly towards Ahmedis (don't want violance of course)so I personally believe there's a bit of a fear factor in terms of losing our religious values)
(If we look at any country there's always a group that majority feels is threatening thier way of life or will be a threat down the line)

Two different issues, one occurred after communal clashes, members of both communities were booked but police of bjp ruled states are not impartial so they will obviously book one community members under tough laws. Apart from Indian express which covered the issue extensively other msm outlets reported the news after few days. Communal clashes happens every other day in india major courts will only take notice if those becomes deadly.

Pakistan on Saturday rubbished "unwarranted assertions" by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regarding the burning down of a Hindu temple in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Karak district earlier this week.

"This is not the first time the Indian government has tried to feign concern for minority rights elsewhere, while being the most egregious and persistent violator of minority rights itself," a statement by FO spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudri said.

The FO statement comes after India conveyed "serious concerns" to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi at "repeated instances of similar nature against members of the minority community", The Wire reported while quoting official sources.

According to the report, India also asked for the investigation report of the incident to be shared with the Ministry of External Affairs and reiterated the message that the government of Pakistan is "expected to look after the safety, security and well-being of its minority communities".

A similar report was also published by The Hindu.

In a statement released today, the FO spokesman said: "From the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act to the National Register of Citizens (NRC), from the Gujarat massacre of 2002 to the Delhi pogrom of 2020, from the reprehensible demolition of Babri Mosque in 1992 to the despicable acquittal of all the accused by Indian court in 2020, from blaming Muslims for spreading coronavirus to banning of inter-faith marriages, from cow vigilantism and mob lynchings to terming the Muslims of West Bengal ‘termites’ and threatening to ‘throw them into the Bay of Bengal’, from extra-judicial killings of innocent Kashmiris to blatant attempts to turn Muslims into a minority in occupied Kashmir through distribution of ‘fake domicile certificates’, the RSS-BJP regime’s record is replete with instances of gross and systemic violations of the rights of minorities, in particular Muslims."

He stated that as a "perennial purveyor of state-sponsored discrimination against its minorities, India was in no position to pontificate on the state of minority rights elsewhere".

He said that there was a clear difference between the state of minority rights in India and Pakistan based on the fact that the accused in the Karak incident were immediately arrested, orders were issued for restoring the temple, the highest level of judiciary took immediate notice, and the senior political leadership condemned the incident.

"Whereas in India, blatant acts of discrimination against Muslims and other minorities take place with state complicity. The Indian leadership is yet to condemn the perpetrators of the Delhi massacre in February 2020, let alone bring those criminals to justice," the FO statement said, referring to violence in the Indian capital that claimed the lives of at least 50 people.

"Given these incontrovertible facts, the Indian government would be well advised to set its own house in order rather than feigning concern for minority rights elsewhere," the statement concluded.

Oh I see, now they are communal clashes. Well it's your country, and as joshila bhai always parps, your country your rules.

Pakistan is a Muslim country though, Imran Khan has to uphold the highest standards as laid out in the holy Quran and conveyed by Rasool Allah PBUH. Thus the law abiding minorities should always be protected by the state, hence there is no need to play with words in order to justify cruelty.

Great gesture by the government. They responded to this well.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB) to start the reconstruction of a century-old Samadhi (shrine) of a Hindu saint in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that was damaged by a mob in December while also directing the board to submit in court details of all functional and non-functional temples and gurdwaras across the country.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed had taken notice of the attack on the shrine last month and ordered the KP chief secretary and the inspector general (IG) as well as Dr Shoaib Suddle, the head of a commission on minorities' rights, to visit the site and submit a comprehensive report by Jan 4.

Built before 1920, the temple was attacked by a large mob after local elders of a religious party in their fiery speeches at a protest demonstration demanded the removal of the temple.

During the hearing today, a three-member bench headed by the chief justice also directed the EPTB to clear encroachments from temples across the country and take action against officials involved in the encroachments.

Justice Ahmed remarked that the Karak incident had caused "international embarrassment to Pakistan".

The KP chief secretary, KP police chief, and Dr Suddle were also present during today's hearing. Dr Suddle informed the court that the KP EPTB "did not protect the shrine" upon which Justice Ijazul Ahsan questioned the inspector general on how the incident could have happened when there was a police check post next to the shrine. "Where were your intelligence agencies?" he asked.

The KP IG told the court that a protest by the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) was going on near the site on the day of the incident which was sponsored by Maulana Faizullah.

"Out of the six ulema at the protest, only Maulvi Mohammad Sharif incited the crowd," the police chief said.

The official informed the SC that 109 people involved in the vandalism were under arrest while 92 police officials, including the superintendent of police (SP) and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) who were on duty at the time, were suspended.

The chief justice remarked that "suspension was not enough". He also expressed ire at the EPTB chairman during the hearing, telling the official to "not sit on the chairman's seat with government mentality".

"Your employees are doing business on the land meant for shrines. Arrest them and start the reconstruction of the temple," Justice Ahmed directed.

"Money should be taken from Maulvi Sharif for reconstruction of the shrine," the chief justice remarked.

The EPTB chairman told the court that the shrine was run by the Hindu community itself and it was non-functional which was why EPTB officials were not present there.

However, Pakistan Hindu Council chief Ramesh Kumar contradicted the EPTB chairman's claims, telling the court that fairs were held at the shrine and around 300-400 Hindus visited it every month.

"The shrine was also damaged in 1997. After the EPTB refused, the council gave money from its [own] funds for reconstruction," Kumar said.

Justice Ahsan observed that the EPTB "has the money to construct its own buildings but does not have money for Hindus".

The bench directed that details of functional and non-functional shrines, records of disputes on EPTB lands and a report on the performance of the EPTB chairman be submitted to the court in two weeks. It also directed the KP branch of the EPTB to hold discussions with the provincial minorities commission.

The apex court said a detailed judgement would be released later and adjourned the hearing for two weeks.

A day earlier, the Shoaib Suddle commission in its report placed before the Supreme Court, recommended the opening of four Hindu temples for international tourism.

The report recommended that the four sites — Param Hans Ji Maharaj Samadhi/Mandir in Teri town of KP’s district Karak; Hinglaj Mata Mandir in Hingol National Park of Balochistan’s district Lasbela; Katas Raj complex in Punjab’s district Chakwal and Parhlad Bhagat Mandir in Punjab’s district Multan — should be provided with fool-proof security and befitting lodging and boarding arrangements similar to Sri Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in Kartarpur town of Punjab’s district Narowal.

The report highlighted that the devastating action by miscreants on Dec 30 in the presence of police not only hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community in particular and the minority communities in general but also brought shame to Pakistan by tarnishing the country’s image at the international level.

Dr Suddle, in his report, highlighted that the mob had also looted valuables from the temple after setting the site on fire but the station house officer and DSP concerned apparently did not take any action to control the situation.

I hope the culprits are made to contribute to the reconstruction of the temple. That'll be a deterrent for future.

Very quiet in this thread. Seems like RSS brigade have no answer to what govt of Pakistan and state institutions did to rebuild the temple and put those people behind bars responsible for this.

This is how democratic nations work, learn from it :)

Kudos to Imran Khan and PTI for not bowing down to terrorists who destroyed the temple.

Well done to the Pakistan government - such a contrast to the idiocy and state supported anti- minority violence in India.

Yes. Quite a contrast to India as the terrorists in India who destroy mosques are elected to power

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on Friday arrested Maulana Faizullah for his alleged involvement in the attack a few days ago on the Hindu temple in Karak district.

Speaking to Geo News, Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sanaullah Abbasi said that Maulana Faizullah, "a key suspect" involved in the demolition of the temple, had been arrested.

KP's top cop said the suspect had assisted in gathering the people who had demolished the temple, adding that as many as 110 people had been arrested.

Karak shrine attack: 12 policemen dismissed over negligent, careless behaviour

KARAK: At least 12 policemen have been fired from their job for showing negligent and irresponsible behaviour in the mob attack on the Hindu shrine in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak.

On December 30, an angry mob had attacked and set ablaze the religious site in Karak. Video clips going viral on social media showed hordes of people breaking and desecrating the site while chanting slogans. Smoke could also be seen emitting from the shrine after it was set on fire.

The Karak district police officer ordered the dismissal of 12 policemen and a one-year suspension of 33 other cops on Thursday.

Terry police SHO Rehmatullah and Banda police ASI Mujeebullah are among those who have been fired.

The Karak DPO said the cops were dismissed in light of the inquiry report into the attack.

The report said the policemen showed negligence, carelessness and irresponsible behaviour during the attack.

The policemen failed to protect the shrine, the Karak DPO said.

KP Inspector-General of Police Sanaullah Abbasi said there is no space in the police department for those showing negligence.

He said he was clear from the start that anyone showing carelessness will be sent home.

The KP IG said the protection of the life and property of the public is a top priority of the police.

On January 5, the Supreme Court directed KP government to rebuild the temple by recovering the amount from Maulvi Sharif — one of the prime suspects behind the demolition.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar heard a suo motu case pertaining to the demolition of the religious site that consists of a temple as well as the shrine of a saint.

During the hearing, the bench was irked by the KP Police's failure to protect the Hindu temple. Justice Ahsan questioned how the incident could occur with a police picket so close by. "What was your intelligence agency doing when the mob was gathering?"

To this, KP Inspector-General Dr Sanaullah Abbasi said 92 police officials who were on duty, including the area's superintendent and deputy superintendent, have been suspended and at least 109 suspects have been arrested.

Peshawar: Hindu pilgrims from India, the US and the Gulf region prayed at the 100-year-old renovated Maharaja Paramhans Ji temple in northwest Pakistan on Saturday amidst tight security, one year after the temple was demolished by a mob belonging to a radical Islamist party.

The delegation of Hindus consisted of nearly 200 devotees from India, 15 from Dubai, the rest from the US and other Gulf states.

The mandir and 'samadhi' of Paramhans Ji in Teri village, Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa underwent extensive repair last year after it was demolished by an angry mob in 2020, an incident that was condemned globally.

The Indian pilgrims crossed over through the Wagah Border near Lahore, and were escorted to the temple by armed personnel, officials said.

The programme has been organised by the Pakistani Hindu Council in collaboration with the national carrier Pakistan International Airlines.

On the day, the funerary monument and Teri village at large was fortified with 600 men from the Rangers, Intelligence and Airport Security Force keeping guard, led by a Superintendent of Police rank officer.

The rituals will go on through the night till afternoon of Sunday, Hindu Council officials said.

'Hujras' or open air reception rooms were converted into shelters for the pilgrims.

The markets near the temple were seen buzzing with tourists and the children from the Hindu contingent were photographed playing cricket with the local kids.

In-charge, Legal Affairs, Hindu Community Rohit Kumar commended the Pakistan government for the arrangements and the repair works.

"Today's prayers at the mandir by yatris from India is a positive message for India, for promoting peace and religious harmony in the region," he said.

The Pakistan Hindu Council has promoted the initiative under the aegis of "faith tourism".

Maharaaj Paramhans Ji died at Teri village in 1919.

Some members of the radical Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) had vandalised the 'samadhi' on December 30, 2020. The temple had also been demolished in 1997.

The provincial government renovated it after ₹ 3.3 crore was recovered from the JUI-F mob.

I suppose you are talking about the Babri masjid ? If so it has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt through advanced scientific means (With all parties as witness to the process !!) that the mosque was constructed right on top of a temple and had been in violent dispute for centuries. Therefore if anything we must question the Muslim community as to why it continued to brazenly lay claim to the Mosque despite it being a symbol of a despicable unholy act to begin with.

The onus of upholding law and order, common courtesy's religious tolerance and harmony rests squarely on the Hindu community in India. At some point the limit of tolerance was going to be breached and it did. The main stream media is so pathetically pseudo-secular that it beggars belief despite the fact that there has actually been a genocide, ethnic cleansing of Hindus in Kashmir daylight unprovoked torching and burning alive of 59 unarmed pilgrims, countless riots etc but the narrative that you see is that Muslims are being persecuted. Well my simple question to those who hold that viewpoint is that what are the comparative incidents where Hindus indulged in unprovoked violence that resulted in large scan loss of life ? None.

Ehsan Jafri would say hi, but he is now deceased. But I guess you will excuse this as provoked violence.

true ... post Godhra violence. While that still does not justify it but my larger point is that the Muslim community in India is not as innocent as is portrayed in the media. Any attempt to find a solution to the religious frictions between the two communities must address this aspect. It is a two way street.
