Indian Muslims are a lot more tolerant and understanding of polytheists (Hindus). We have several Sufi Dargahs where both Hindus and Muslims pray. So there is some common ground for both Hindus and Muslims in India. Its not all green and saffron in India. Though I would say the chasm has increased a bit in the recent past. Overall, both Hindus and Muslims get along well where the population of Hindus is 900 Million and Muslims is 170 Million. Any other place with these many people of opposite faiths would be chaos and war 24/7.

You should learn a bit of history before you post. You consider the Deccan War fought by the Mughals in which 2 million civilians died an example of "stay together".
